My Ipsy Bag for June 2013

My June Ipsy bag is here and I love it.

I’m glad I made the switch for sure!

So what did I get?

1. The bag.

I adore this bag! It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen and it’s totally me. A little 80′s neon and a lil animal print what more could you ask for? Haha.

2. J. Cat Beauty Sparkling Cream Palette

This is a cream shadow set. I haven’t used it yet, but it reminds me a lot of a NYX one I used to own. I’ll let you know how I like it in a future review.

3. Starlooks Lip Pencil in Tickle Me Pink

I can always use a pink lipliner.

4. Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter

I’m a sucker for a great highlighter so I can’t wait to try this one out.

5. NYX Cream Blush in Boho Chic.

I already own and love NYX cream blushes so I’m excited to add this one to my collection. Boho Chic is a nice light pink shade.

6. Cailyn Line-Fix Gel Eyeliner

I’ve heard amazing things about this liner from makeup artist friends so I can’t wait to try it myself.

I think it’s pretty safe to say if you want to find me and I’m not at home that 8-10 times you can find me at Target hahaha.

It’s such an addictive place that Tar-jay.

Run in to pick up some almond milk and out you come with a whole buggy full of products you never knew you needed.

This time it wasn’t that bad, but I did end up leaving with 4 products I hadn’t planned on picking up haha.

At least most of them were on sale so I only spent around $12.00 more than planned.

What?

Don’t judge that’s good for me lol.

So here’s what I picked up.

1. Loreal Colour Riche Balm in Legally Regal.

Marked down from $5.99 to $1.78.

I already own this shade, but I love it so much I picked up a backup.

2. Loreal Colour Riche Balm in Provence Romance.

Marked down from $5.99 to $1.78.

3. Loreal Visible Lift Smooth Absolute Instant Age Reversing Foundation.

Marked down from $13.59 to $4.07.

I haven’t tried this before, but I hear Kandee Johnson loves it so you know it has to be good haha.

4. Sonia Kashuk Makeup Brush Holder.

$4.99

Isn’t this the cutest brush holder?

I love it and when I saw that it was only $4.99 I knew I had to have it.

If you’re looking for a great deal on Loreal products you should check the end caps at your Target as mine had loads of products for cheap.

Wellness Wednesday: 5 Must Watch Documentaries that could save your life

Happy Wellness Wednesday!

Today I want to tell you about five of my favorite health inspired documentaries that could save your life.

As a little disclaimer I just want to say I’m a vegan and most of these documentaries promote a plant based diet, but I feel like no matter what vegans, vegetarians, flexatarians and meat eaters alike can benefit a lot from these movies.

Even if they inspire you to make only one or two changes,say for instance to start juicing or to eat more veggies, then I feel like that’s a step in the right direction.

Oh and make sure you check with your doctor before making any big life changes.

Now onto the show….errrr list.

1. Forks Over Knives.

This movie is based on the book The China Study which is what inspired me to go vegan over 4 years ago.

The film centers on the work of Dr. T. Colin Campbell of Cornell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn of the Cleveland Clinic.

Campbell conducted the China-Oxford-Cor­­nell study, which fol­lowed millions of Chinese over decades and found that increases in their incidence of cancer and heart disease directly paralleled their adoption of a Western diet.

This movie is full of facts that are hard to argue with.

A must watch film and one of my favorites for sure.

2. Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead.

100 pounds overweight, loaded up on steroids and suffering from a debilitating autoimmune disease, Joe Cross is at the end of his rope and the end of his hope. In the mirror he saw a 310lb man whose gut was bigger than a beach ball and a path laid out before him that wouldn’t end well— with one foot already in the grave, the other wasn’t far behind. FAT, SICK & NEARLY DEAD is an inspiring film that chronicles Joe’s personal mission to regain his health.

This movie inspired me to start juicing again and how inspiring is Phil?

If you don’t know who Phil is you have to watch the film haha.

3. Food Matters.

That’s the message from the founding father of modern medicine echoed in the controversial film ‘Food Matters’.

5. Super Size Me

This was one of the first health films I ever watched.

Super Size Me follows, Morgan Spurlock, during a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003 during which he ate only McDonald’s food. The film documents this lifestyle’s drastic effect on Spurlock’s physical and psychological well-being, and explores the fast food industry’s corporate influence, including how it encourages poor nutrition for its own profit.

An oldie, but a goodie.

So that’s it my top 5 films.

I believe they’re all on Netflix (except for Super Size Me) so no excuses.

Hydroxatone Anti-Aging BB Cream Review & Photos

Hydroxatone retails for $39.00 at Ulta.

If you’ve been reading this blog for very long at all then you know that I love me some BB Cream.

Like seriously I own way more than anyone should, but it’s all in the name of research right?

Right?

Yeah, I thought so haha.

So when I was sent the Hydroxatone BB Cream I was excited to test it against all the ones I already own.

How did it fair?

Here are my thoughts….

The Good:

Blends easily
Good coverage
Satiny Finish
Great for combo/oily girls like myself
SPF 40

The Bad:

The $39.00 price tag.

Final Thoughts:

It’s a great BB Cream, but I feel like it’s a tad bit overpriced so I don’t think I’d repurchase it again for that reason alone.

$34.00 is my limit for a BB Cream hahhaha.

That’s how much my beloved Tarte BB Cream is and I thought it was pricey.

I’ll pay a lot for a foundation, but I dunno I just can’t do it for a BB Cream.

I do like it a lot though so if money is no object and you want to try a great BB Cream then give this one a go.

Wellness Wednesday: Celebrity Fitspiration Britney Spears

Any Britney fans out there?

I loved her back in the day….then things turned bad for her and she sorta disappeared.

Luckily, with a new album in the works and a hot new Vegas show on the books, it seems like Britney’s back and better than ever!

So how did she get back into such great shape?

She recently told Shape magazine..

“I’m doing 90 minutes of yoga twice a week in addition to a lot of cardio—hour-long sessions three times a week with my trainer, Tony Martinez,”. “The [Vegas] performances won’t be simple—they’ll be a massive party from start to finish. And to pull this off, I have to be in top condition and running at full speed.”

As for diet Britney follows the Nutrisystem program which includes a shake for breakfast and lunch plus a dinner of protein and veggies.

I’m not a huge fan of programs like Nutrisystem, but I love that she does yoga to stay in shape as it’s something that I love as well.

Looks like Britney has done it again and she looks amazing!

Mor Lip Macaron Review and Photos

Mor Lip Macaron Retail for $10.00 a piece.

I’m a huge sucker for packaging so when I saw the Mor Lip Macarons I fell in love with them!

I mean just look how pretty they are!

Besides the gorgeous packaging though do they work?

Are they worth the $10.00 price tag?

Keep reading to find out!

Pros:

1. Adorable Packaging!

2. I have both Peach Nectar and Sorbet and they smell amazing!

Cons:

1. It’s pricey and I don’t feel like the balm is anything special so you’re paying for the adorable packaging more than anything else.

2. These lip balms are made from mineral oil/petroleum jelly and I for one prefer not to use products with those ingredients.

3. Not all that moisturizing.

Overall, I love the packaging but I probably won’t ever repurchase them.

I hate the fact that they’re mineral oil based and I also feel like you can find better balms for a much better price.

I hate to say it, but these are a pass for me.

Happy Monday Ladies!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Sorry for my lack of posts lately I was on a little vacay last week and I turned into a major slacker haha.

I’m back now though so expect things to get back to normal around here shortly.

As many of you know I’m obsessed with highlighters.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I have 20 or more of them in my collection.

So when my sister ,a fellow makeup artist, called to tell me about this amazing highlighter she had just bought I listened.

She went on and on about it and proceeded to tell me it was a dupe for her hourglass highlighter and that some youtubers were saying the same thing so I pretty much dropped the phone during the middle of our conversation and ran to my local Walgreens and picked it up.

Why they call it a bronzer I’ll never know because I don’t know of very many people who could use it as one.

That’s ok though because it makes one of the most beautiful highlighters I’ve ever seen!

I love it and the fact that people are calling it a dupe for a $45.00 Hourglass product makes it even that much more awesome!

Dust it all over your skin with a large powder brush for a soft glow all over or just dust it on your cheekbones, cupids bow, etc for an amazing glowing from within look.

If you’re in the market for a new highlighter pick it up you won’t be disappointed!

May 2013 Ipsy Bag

After my last Birchbox post I decided enough is enough already and cancelled my subscription.

After that I quickly ran over to Ipsy and signed up for that box instead.

Boy oh boy am I glad I did.

Jessica is in amazing shape!

So what’s her secret?

1. She enjoys the great outdoors.

You can find her walking her dog, biking, running, walking, hiking, etc.

2. She Practices Yoga.

A huge fan of yoga, she told Glamour, I like to do a couple of classes of yoga during the week, mixed in with weight training sessions, which are for strength,” says Biel. “Actually the yoga class is less about strength and more about stretching and elongating, so I can have the combo.”

3. She Eats Healthy and Watches What she drinks.

She avoids alcohol, drinks lots of water and according to Elle magazine to stay on track with her regimen while home in Los Angeles, Biel frequents places like Real Food Daily, a restaurant that specializes in organic vegan cuisine. ” M Café is also great—it has a lot of macrobiotic options,” she says. “But you can find healthy food pretty much anywhere. I do a lot of cooking at home using grains and vegetables.”

4. She gives herself a cheat day.

While Jessica eats well often she allows herself one cheat day during the week where she can eat whatever she wants.

I used to do it a couple of days a week myself now its more like a couple of days a month lol.
