Closure In Moscow Pull Out Of Soundwave

Closure In Moscow have pulled out of Soundwave (or maybe they were dropped?!), a statement has been published on the Soundwave Forum:

It is amazing how the one band you book on the festival only as a favour to their manager; whom you are paying 10 times what they are worth as a gesture of goodwill; and you bill way above their station, turn out to be the only demanding and rude people amongst a star-studded line up.

Here are some tips for other local bands hoping to keep a spot on a national festival:

1.Having a band member call the festival admin manager 2 days out from the festival with a new list of demands and being aggressive, rude and yelling at her only works if you are holding hostages.

2. Don’t demand that festival vehicles and drivers pick band members up from their homes and then drop them off after the festival. Specially if you live on an island off the Gold Coast!

3. Don’t demand that the festival should book and pay for your accommodation on top of the $25,000 you’re being paid to pay for your own lodgings.

I could go on and on. Maybe publish a book some day…

Pennywise Announce New Vocalist

After months of searching, the members of Pennywise announced that Ignite vocalist Zoli Teglas is now officially the new front man. Teglas, a longtime friend and tour mate, recently played a handful of So Cal shows with Pennywise, including the 2009 Smokeout Festival and a sold out Holiday Benefit concert for Amnesty International at Long Beach Arena. Teglas will join Pennywise on its upcoming European tour which kicks off this April. That tour will be preceded by a few warm up West Coast dates that start on March 17 in San Diego, CA. Pennywise is currently at work on a new record, its first featuring the new lineup.

My Chemical Romance Cancel Soundwave

My Chemical Romance have pulled out of Soundwave and will be replaced by Jimmy Eat World. A statement from SoundwaveFestival.com as follows:

My Chemical Romance cancel their Soundwave appearance…but the ever brilliant Jimmy Eat World have confirmed as replacement.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE regretfully announce that they have been forced to cancel all upcoming engagements, including their appearance at The Soundwave Festival in Australia.

Singer Gerard Way has been having severe vocal problems and is under doctor’s advisement to forgo the tour in order to receive treatment for his throat and vocal chords and protect their long-term use.

“We are really sorry that we’ve had to cancel this tour, and apologise for any inconvenience it has caused,” says singer Way. “The last thing we ever want to do is cancel shows, but we’ll be back to Australia to make it up to the fans as soon as possible.”

Patrons holding tickets to the MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE show at the Big Top, Luna Park on Thu 25 Feb are advised to contact their point of purchase to arrange a full refund of their tickets.

Oh Sleeper have released a new video for their track “The Finisher“, the new video is a sequel to their title track “Son Of The Morning“.

Vocalist Micah Kinard explains the video:

“In the ‘Son of the Morning’ video, there’s a figure who represents Satan. It’s this winged goat with horns, and the metaphor starts there. Satan has built this device, which is Venus, which comes from the metaphor from Latin poetry that ‘Son of the Morning’ is derived from. Venus is referred to as Lucifer in the morning, because it’s the brightest star in the sky until the sun breaks the horizon and completely washes it out. So his minions build Venus, and it activates and everything dies except for him. That’s where ‘The Finisher’ picks up.”
