I've searched other posts, but can't seem to put my finger on what is causing our problem. We uploaded vba, and followed all the instructions and still can't get it to work. Probably have done something really stupid, but after 2 hours...aaaggghh. Can get into our control panel, deleted the .htaccess file but it comes back, so we just renamed it. Never Mind I fixed it!!! It was a forum path problem

I have install vbAdvanced product. Now I am able to change my website style from Admin control panel. In admin control panel I can change some style , header , footer and able to add some content.

How can I change my website layout manually so that I can get more flexibility in design.

Is there any way to play with template like joomla , drupal or any other content management system where I can define my own thing.

Strange Error when running YSlow to debug the site.

My integrated forum pulls up the following link with a backround and thats it. No actual forum, just the code below. If I turn off Firebug/Yslow the page loads but has errors.

Wanting to put ad module in

I have multiple instances.
I just installed a new instance this weekend, it was a new download too.

I have it set up as a file sharing system where the documents need to be approved first.
I currently have 5 documents pending moderation.
There doesn't seem to be a way to review approve them individually, what happens if I want to reject only one?
Also I can't see the attachment when I try to approve it, that makes it a bit tough to "moderate".

The bigger issue though is when I click Submit to Validate all, it goes back to the same page and leaves them pending validation. I can't get them to validate.

Did I set it up incorrectly?

Hi, I've been loving vBadvanced for about 6 weeks now and haven't had any problems with it other than my own making.
I'm sure this is the same.
I created some modules and pages to display with the VB skins I already had. These worked well until I created some new skins. Now when I go to the page I created in vBadvanced the page won't show... only the header and footer show. If I change the skin to, lets say default skin or the skins that were already there when I created the page it shows up fine.
What have I done wrong?

vBa Dynamics - Book/Story Database Solution?

I am currently using GARS to showcase an author's body of work. I also started work with a glossary mod to log stories, but have yet to complete the work due to the laborious nature of formatting the data with HTML and custom bbcode tables.

GARS has the ability to define custom fields and modules, but the system appears to fall short when looked at as an easy and effective solution to compile and manage custom databases. This, combined with the fact that GARS appears to be on the edge of oblivion (dramatic quiescence since The Geek left and no commitment to support vb4), has brought me here to investigate an alternative system.

vBadvanced Dynamics appears that it could offer a solution for my needs. Please review the provided links and advise if this is viable. Thanks!

I've got both Advanced Dynamics and CMPS. What I'm wanting to do is display a preview the three most recent "featured" articles and then off to the side, in a separate module, display just the title of the 7 articles before the top 3.

Basically, I don't want a redundant module that is showing the same thing in two different places.

New install - Edit "homepage" link in navigation module?

Just completed a new install and at present the link to my homepage is xyz.com/cmps_index.php

I want to actually change this so that if anyone hits that link it takes you back to the old VB index.php (now renamed to index2php or whatever)

Where do I edit the setting for this?

A friend of mine just moved to a new server. Fresh install of vbulletin. I just installed vbad for him and for the likes of me can not get it to run correctly. steps on what I done so far.

installed vbad
changed index.php to forum.php
changed cmps_index.php to index.php

Now everything up to this point works correctly. I access the site loading vbad first.

went to forum home template and changed index to forum

but when I try to click forum from vbad I get the error

"Not Found

The requested URL /upload/forum.php was not found on this server."

Now if I remove upload and add forums/forum.php It takes me to the site/forum.
I am not sure where this upload is coming from.

Any help will be appreciated...

Adding an external PHP to a Module

Im using OS.Commerce and I have a php script in my catalog that pulls a simple, whats new block on a php page.

Problem is Ive tried every way I could figure to pull the block into VBA in a module with no luck aside from on the sites homepage.

Here's the script from the php page.

And of course that's the URL to the script.

If you go straight to the URL its pulling the block just fine.

So I tried making a regular php module and put it in the forums module folder and named it whats_new.php I then created a new module using the whats_new.php file with clean output. Works ok on the homepage (root.com/index.php). Anywhere else I get a white page.

I tried a template with the above (includes) script and no luck it just sits there with an empty wrapper.

Anyone have an ideal how I have pull that PHP page (http://scalemotorcars.com/catalog/su...?box=whats_new) into a module that I can use anywhere in VBA without using an Iframe. (that didnt work either since it loops in the frame)

I cant for the life of me find where to change these settings.

Im running vb 3.8.4pl1 with vbadvanced dynamics as my forums all dynamic files are in root so I only run dynamics.

As nice as it is to have there seem to be some major limitations that come with the other nice stuff dynamics offers.

Infractions and reported posts:

Can I make the dynamics to use the same infraction and reported post method as vbulletin? How do I create a discussion thread for reported post?

There does not seem to be the ability to give a user an infraction, how would I add it to dynamics?

How to I change dynamics to use the legacy style?

My forum is in /forums
My CMPS index file is now index.php and in the root
Using $forumpath = 'forums'; because is if I use /forums, I get "Invalid forum path specified!..."
"CMPS Page to Integrate With" is the new page I created
I am using "THIS_SCRIPT" integration with "Current Integrated Pages" pointing to the new page I created.
If I edit the Homepage page, the changes are reflected when browsing to the root.
The "The full URL to your CMPS file" under "Main Options" is index.php, although it makes no difference what I make it.

If I browse to mysite.com/forums I get the new page I created(!). I don't think this is normal. I just want to browse to mysite.com and get my forum with all the cool modules around it.

I am obviously missing something. Help!

Hello all,

After much trepidation, considering the complexity of what I had planned to install, and a good degree of reading before attempting this install, something invariably goes wrong for me, while keeping in mind the easier something is made to be, the more likely "I" will have a problem with it.:eek:

So I have to say WOW this went off with out a hitch, however upon reading through the settings, and making my adjustments, one confused me just a bit...is this just and over sight from someone working too late and was punch drunk writing the settings pages because I found this to be inconsistent.....

How to remove Vbulletin welcome bar from the CMPS page.

Im wondering if it would be easy for a non IT person like me to be able to remove the vbulletin welcome bar from the CMPS page, but not from the vbulletin forum pages.

Im assuming from what I have learnt so far I would need to remove soemthing from the templates, but i have no idea what.

Am i right? and would anyone be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

Different styles for different categories

I have 4 different categories for articles. For some reason or another, one category displays using the style I have selected for myself to use, which will eventually be the forum default. The other categories, display using the forum default. I checked the settings for all the categories and they�re all the same, so why would a category display items using a different style than what I�m using? My site is www.navynavigator.com

update, it seems the issue has to do with relevant replacement. it can't work with cmps =/

I tried adding the $subcats[count] or $subcats[linkcount] at the end of the link title but that didn't work in the adv_links_categorybit_subcat template. Any ideas?

After installing vBadvanced (I think the problem was happened after the installation), the buttons in advanced text box (reply to thread) doesn't work!! (smiles, Bold button, link, everything!!) but in Quick Reply the buttons works. :S

Someone can help me?? What can I do? Maybe it can be just a problem with vBulletin?

Hello,

I frequent several sports card trading sites and they all utilize a Trade Manager feature. Is this an add-on feature? What it does is keeps track of all the individual peer-to-peer trades. Whats in the trade, when the trade is sent, when the trade is received. That sort of thing. I just joined a new trading site and we're looking into getting this as well. Please let me know if you need any other information on this.

how to get a content into an iFrame element

Hello all,

I am using a vbAdvanced module and it works on my board well.

But the processing time of that module is about 4-5 seconds, which means my board wil be loaded +5 seconds latetly.

I thought a solution.

As I know before, if there is a in a webpage, even the content of this frame will be loaded a bit late, the main page loads faster and shows itself. Then iframe will be loaded right after it completes its loading process.

So If I get these module's content into a iframe, my mainboard will be loaded faster first, then content of iframe will be loaded after that 4~5 seconds

my module has a php file under /modules/xxxx.php

And my problem is I dont know how to get the content of this module inside a iframe to my frontpage?

but I went through installation, and things seemed to be ok except this error still existed in my home page of the link script, keeping this message on the top of the header

I encounter this error before with vbulletin, but when I upgraded into the new version 3.8.4 patch level 1, I got red of this error, but same error surprised me with the Links Directory script

How to add a bottom 'column' for modules

I was wondering if I could add a bottom 'column' on my homepage to put some modules in? I have no real code experience, so if there is some easy way to do it without coding, I would appreciate someone telling me what it is.

EDIT: I looked at the sticky and found some topics that helped a little. I got a top row for the homepage, but I still need a bottom one. Any help?

Could someone tell me the settings on how to properly create a column that ONLY displays Most Viewed Threads for the current day...or 24 hour period ?

I always thought I had it set up correctly but I guess not.

I thought the Cut Off date meant that setting it to 1, will only show the most viewed threads during the last day. But as I read the description now it says -

I didnt know about that Reply stuff.

I'm creating a simple module and for the most part have it finished.

However the title must link to the user's profile page.

For the Module Link I have "/forum/member.php"

I also need to include the user id for this link to function properly.

ie the link should be "/forum/member.php?u=" . $vbulletin->GPC[bbuserid]

I'm not sure how I can accomplish this.

Hey guys,

I would like to have showthread integration on specific forums. Is this possible?

For instance, I use the news.php feature of vBAdvanced and would like a side column for the showthread page of that forum BUT I have a normal "forums" section and I would not like any integration for the showthread on those forums - or have it hidden.

Any ideas? I searched the forum but can't find any answers specific to this.

How do I make use of my dynamics software? I have all three products but I am using CMPS for my forum home page and it is linked to the link software; on it my users can use the link page. I don�t know what to use on my dynamics software for except using it as a photo galley if so can I install the gallery on it and link it to my homepage?

Can you recommend a good software photo galley like the one use on cool sci-fi site or http://www.jeep-cj.com/
Most of the others are no better than the VB album.

vbadvance cortex style header and footer not showing on home page
Configuration :

Vbull 3.8.4

installed 3.8.4 compatible style cortex

installed vbadvance 3.2.1
vB cmps index.php in public_html
main forum in directory "forum"

PROBLEM: I cant get my header or footer to display on main page
tried several times to update image paths via vbcmps_install, it wont work by pointing to a single image file as the header and footer are flash/java based
I need to know how to get logos for this style to display. I think i may need to edit in templates but before i do i need a few pointers as to where exactly and with what

Any help would be appreciated.

To help cope in this struggling economy, there will be a couple of small changes to the vBadvanced pricing structure that will start on November 4th, 2009:

- Branding free licenses for all products will increase to $59.99 (+$10).
- vBa Links Directory and vBa Dynamics license renewals will increase to $19.99 (+$5).

One of our main goals has always been to keep our software affordable for most everybody, so we've decided these changes would be the most appropriate since the prices are still very reasonable or even under-priced when compared to most other software vendors.

Homepage images not working?

Hello. I followed the user manual on how to run VBa CMPS in the same folder as VBulletin, and now when I go to my webpage (www.webpage.com), the homepage of CMPS shows. However, none of the images on the homepage are working. No avatars (Instead it says 'Person's avatar), the only image that is working is my banner. Does anyone know if I did anything wrong? Some extra information: I changed the old index.php file to forum.php, and my website is www.fearthepinkmist.net

EDIT: Also, none of the links besides the Site Navigation links (I set those links to certain forums and topics) are working, when I tried to follow a news link, it gave this error:
Not Found

The requested URL /forum/showthread.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

How to Define THIS_SCRIPT for new CMPS page

I have a tab that pulls the CMPS_index.php based on
THIS_SCRIPT=='adv_index'

Works fine BUT
when I add a page in in CMPS > ADD Page
it provides page identifier
cmps_index.php?pageid=games

and since this part of cmps_index, this also has
define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'adv_index')

If I want to pull this new page with link cmps_index.php?pageid=games, I still get two pages up (cmps_index.php &
cmps_index.php?pageid=games)

Is it possible to define('THIS_SCRIPT', 'adv_index-1') when we add a new CMPS page?

or

Should I copy CMPS_index.php to CMPS_index-1.php and change define ('THIS_SCRIPT', 'adv_index-1').

Then when we add new stuff, where does it go?

I use the latest 10 threads mod, but i would like to change the way of listing the latest threads in 2 columns like:

If its possible to divide the latest thread on 2 columns like a news module ?

i do not use the replay info, autor info, last post etc info

just simply thread information like on the screen

spacer.gif not loading up on the header

I just installed vba 3.2.1
I am using custom template and at the logo on the header, an image spacer.gif is not loaded causing an [x] sign. (like an image is not loaded)

During the installation, one of the code thing is showing red. It's referring to this code:

How to get page titles to display in titlebar

I am playing around with CMPS. I added a PHP module, which works. My question is, how do I get the pages I create to have their unique page name show in the browser title bar?

Example, I have a page, other than the "Homepage" and I would like for it to say blahblah.com :: Contact Us.

Currently, even my homepage doesn't show it's page title in the title bar. All I see is Mozilla Firefox.

I have a normal VB website and I recently installed CMPS on it. Now I want the main page to be the CMPS homepage instead of the forum home (right now the www.blah.com is the VBulletin index, but I want it to be VBa CMPS index) and I want to move the forum into the forum folder (Accessible from www.blah.com/forum). Right now, the files are all straight on the public_html directory of the webserver, how would I go about moving all of the VBulletin files to the forum folder and get the CMPS_index in the public_html without causing any errors(I tried once before, by hotswitching the VB files into the forum folder and put the cmps_index in the public_html, it didn't turn out so well)?

I have enabled RSS in external data options so that I can push out new content from my dynamics deployment but when I set up the feed it seems to be pulling the latest threads from my VB forum rather than from dynamics? Any ideas?

The feed URL I am using is http://www.mydomain.com/dynamics/external.php?&count=10

I'd like it to simply show the original FORUMDISPLAY.
