I was checking my inbox and I was surprised to receive an email from Dneero. Dneero is one of the paid surveys I signed up before, I learned a few dollars from them but my last activity from them was last year ago. I logged in to Dneero’s homepage and found out I still have $ 13.62 earnings from them. It got stuck at $ 13.62 because no new conversations were available until now. I hope more surveys and more opportunities will be available so that I can achieve the $ 20 mark and cash out my earnings.

Universal Studios Singapore (Resorts World Sentosa, Sentosa Island, Singapore) – Universal Studios Singapore finally opened its doors to the public, news reported that tickets were sold out fast after it went on sale on Wednesday. The clamor for Universal Studios Singapore tickets will not be expected to die down as people are willing to wait for hours and days just to get in. However, the management advised them to email Universal Studios Singapore reservations department instead.

The amusement park has a Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away and Madagascar themed areas. I want to try the rollercoaster ride Battlestar Galactica found in Sci-Fi city and feel the New York vibe in the city-themed zones.

The opening of Universal Studios Singapore gives me all the more reason to save up on our next trip. Looks like Hong Kong Disneyland has some competition here.

Banoffee Pie (Php 90/slice, Php 540/whole), cheaper than Starbucks Banoffee Pie but taste doesn’t come short with Starbucks’. This one has chunkier banana slices, chocolate shavings and more icing. I still prefer the one from Starbucks because I want to dig into that chocolatey center and buttery crust.

Classic Pecan Pie

Classic Pecan Pie (Php 90/slice, Php 630/whole), viewing from their display window, my mouth-watered after seeing the rows and rows of pecan nuts on top of this pie. I find this too sweet, though. It really looks yummy but I only ate two spoonfuls of this and moved on to another cake.

Myster-reese's Wicked Pie

Myster-reese’s Wicked Pie (Php 90/slice, Php 680/whole), if you love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups like me, then you’ll definitely like this one. The toppings consists of chunks of, of course, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. The middle part is where you’ll the peanut butter layer, followed by a chocolate layer at the bottom. Again, I’m not really fond of the icing, I find most icings sweet and fattening (hehe).

Super Caramel Fudge Cake

Super Caramel Fudge Cake (Php 85/slice, Php 780/whole), if the other cake is wicked, then this one’s super! Caramel and chocolate lovers will enjoy this. It has ample amount of caramel syrup on top, enough to send you to caramel bliss. Add to that is a moist and soft so-chocolatey cake.

Banapple, I first heard of this restaurant from friends and colleagues but since the first branch is in Katipunan, I never got to visit this place. Fortunately, Banapple has another branch in Quezon City, located at the 2nd Floor of Il Terrazzo along Tomas Morato. I visited Banapple to prove all the props received by this restaurant.

The restaurant is quite small, there were only a few chairs inside so seating area is very limited. They have additional tables and chairs outside though for smokers. What I love is the homey and cozy ambiance, feels like your visiting a friend’s or your grandma’s kitchen.

We ordered 2 pasta dishes, and they’re both penne, Penne Bolognese and Baked Creamy Cheesy Penne (sounds delicious from the name itself!)

Their pasta dishes are affordable and servings is good for two people already. It’s our first time to order so we’re clueless about their serving size. The pasta is cooked perfectly, al dente. Don’t you just love to dig in into that bowl of Baked Creamy Cheesy Penne? This is a must-try, serving it in a bowl made it feel like a comfort food you’d love to have at your home. The slices of toasted Pesto bread complete a very fulfilling meal.

Banapple became famous with their pies and cakes, they have their own Banofee Pie. I love Starbucks Banofee Pie so I just have to try Banapple’s version despite feeling satiated from the pasta.

Banapple’s Banofee Pie is cheaper for one, but it doesn’t have the buttery crust of Starbucks’. I don’t like cakes with too much icing too.

“Being a photographer is making people look at what I wanted them to look at” …. Ruth Orkin

I’m a frustrated photorapher, I really really wanted to learn photography using a DSLR camera and learn to tweak the manual settings. But I’m too lazy to even read the manual of Jeff’s Nikon D80. I’m a point-and-shoot camera user, from my Canon Powershot digital camera, I’m currently using Panasonic Lumix LX3 which takes brilliant wide-angle photos. But as they say, magnificent and award-winning photos are not because of the camera, it’s because of the photographer. True, even photos taken with a camera phone with great composition, framing and lighting are better than mediocre photos taken with the most expensive DSLR camera.

Such is the case with Ruth Orkin, an award-winning photojournalist and filmmaker. I stumbled upon her portfolio, Orkin Photo Archive, and I love all her photos. Candid shots, New York city and still life subjects are the things that appeal to me. Orkin’s photos captured the ordinary day-to-day life in New York city extra-special. She takes pictures anywhere and anytime, while filming and even when just looking down at her apartment, just like the photo below…

Red Hot by Ruth Orkin

Ruth Orkin’s photos were taken between 1930s to 1980s, at that time, there were no Photoshop and Lightroom to enhance her photos. Only film cameras at that time so I just can’t imagine how precious those rolls of film are in her photography. At present, we’re lucky to have digital cameras so that we can just be like trigger-happy on taking shots and just select the good ones and delete those blurry photos. Framing and lighting can be post-processed using Photoshop and Lightroom. I’m guilty of using these programs because it helps me in correcting the lighting and the framing of my shots.

Practice makes perfect, right? I shall take my camera into a photowalk some time to get to know more of its functions and not just use the Intelligent Auto mode and preset modes. Besides, I need to hone my photography skills to be able to take pictures of accessories I sell online and not just rely on Adobe, haha…

I joined the DZMM Takbo Para sa Kalikasan Year 11 last Sunday, my third time for this yearly running event. Sponsored by DZMM, the running event is for the benefit of the rehabilitation of the Pasig River. Takbo Para sa Kalikasan is one running event I can see myself joining every year because registration fee is affordable (Php 200 this year) and its accessible location (The Fort is too far where most running events are held).

We registered for 5K. Oh well, cut me some slack for finishing the race for more than 30 minutes since this is my first run for the year, hehe… Kapamilya stars joined the race, Piolo Pascual, Maricar Reyes, Jake Cuenca and Enchong Dee participated in the race. Papa P finished the 10K race, woot! Vice President Noli de Castro and Pia Cayetano also joined the event.

Winnie Cordero, Laila ?, Ahwel Paz hosted the event. Ariel Ureta and Cory Quirino at the back. It was a fun day we had, I wonder when they will release the race results, as if! After the event, we headed to Eurotel in front of Robinson’s Place Manila for breakfast, waited for the mall to open for the 4th TAGCOM event.
