Rather than trying to solve problems in her family, she wanted to prevent them. That got her wondering what makes for happy families and children. The result of that questioning is Raising Happiness (Ballantine Books).

She said to start off by asking two questions about your life as a parent:

1. When are you happiest with your kids?

2. What part of the normal day with your family routinely causes suffering?

Then make sure your day is structured so that you get routine, habitual happiness and so that you’re eliminating habitual pain.

Over the past few days, I’ve been getting a lot of those, “Not too much longer” comments. I feel funny telling people that I still have 4 weeks left (really 3 1/2 since I have a scheduled repeat c-section). One lady said she had just asked another girl my size yesterday and the girl only had 2 days left! How do you react to that?!!!

My husband said that I should just start saying, “What are you talking about? I’m only halfway there.” Now that would probably shut them up pretty quickly. I might try the multiples angle too. Well, I do have four in there. It’s quads. But I’m kind of scared to even joke about that

I’m really not sure if I’ll make it another three weeks, so I really need to pack my bag in advance this time…and soon, just in case.

Joshua and Anna Duggar – from TLC’s “18 Kids and Counting” — welcomed daughter Mackynzie Renee Duggar on Thursday, according to People.

The newest Duggar was born at Joshua and Anna’s home, with a midwife and doula assisting in the birth. Although she is the first child for the young couple, both 21, she certainly has a lot of family who were anxious to meet her, with 17 aunts and uncles in the Duggar clan.

In fact, the brood is about to grown again in 2010, as Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are expecting their 19th child in the spring.
