Companies with mixed Windows OS environments gain immediate protection from the latest threats through a comprehensive endpoint security solution

Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced Windows 7 Microsoft operating system support for Check Point Endpoint Security™, the first and only single agent that combines all the critical components for total security on the endpoint. Businesses with a mixed environment of Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 based desktops and laptops gain through Endpoint Security a single, common centrally managed solution.

Check Point Endpoint Security provides businesses comprehensive endpoint security with over 10 integrated security capabilities, and is the only solution to include unique, preemptive browser security through Check Point WebCheck, remote access virtual private network (VPN) client and Full Disk Encryption. Endpoint Security’s single install and integrated patching and updating process benefits administrators by reducing deployment cost and complexity while increasing management efficiency. With a single agent, update, scan, and interface Endpoint Security simplifies the end-user experience by decreasing the number of security applications on the client and eliminating multiple logins, updates and patches.

“In less than four years businesses have seen three different Microsoft operating systems,” said Bhaskar Bakthavatsalu, Regional Director, India & SAARC, Check Point Software Technologies ltd. “Common platform is a preference. But when businesses are likely to operate with a mixture of different operating systems one solution that attends to the unique threat concerns of each OS becomes a suitable option. Check Point Endpoint Security offers customers one solution that addresses the various threats of each OS and allows policies for all endpoints to be managed from a single console.”

Additional features and benefits of Check Point Endpoint Security include:
•	Check Point WebCheck uses patented browser virtualization technology to protect enterprise endpoints from Web-based threats

•	Check Point OneCheck provides one easy login to Windows and all endpoint security functions for a secure and simple user experience

•	VPN enables secure remote access to corporate resources by encrypting and authenticating data transmitted during remote access sessions. New VPN Auto-connect capability maintains connectivity while roaming between LAN, WiFi and GPRS networks and automatically configures the VPN connection

•	Media Encryption and Port Control secures sensitive corporate data and protects from incoming malware by encrypting removable media such as USB storage devices, CDs and DVDs, and by controlling activity (read, write and execute) on ports and devices

•	Full Disk Encryption provides the highest level of data security for data stored on laptops and desktops through a combination of pre-boot authentication and strong encryption algorithms

•	Award-winning firewall blocks unwanted traffic, prevents malware from infecting endpoint systems and makes computers invisible to hackers

•	Program Control with Program Advisor ensures only legitimate and approved programs are allowed to run on the endpoint

•	Anti-malware detects and removes viruses, spyware, keystroke loggers, Trojans, rootkits and other malware based on a combination of signatures, behavior blockers, and heuristic analysis

•	Network Access Control (NAC) enforces a comprehensive NAC policy controlling access to corporate networks and ensuring that each endpoint is current with the latest antivirus, critical patches, service packs, and applications such as browsers and VPN agents

•	Central Management provides central configuration, policy administration, reporting, and analysis of endpoint security

Jet Airways, India’s premier international airline, today announced the launch of a new and exciting initiative for guests to access to the lowest current fares on the airline network from their mobiles on any given day of travel.

Jet Airways guests may now send a simple SMS to get the lowest real-time fares available on jetairways.com on a particular sector and date.

To get the lowest fare information, a guest has to send a simple message in the following format: LFS Origin Destination Date
(in dd/mm format) to 56388. E.g. LFS BOM DEL 25/11 to 56388.

In keeping with Jet Airways’ commitment to continually enhance the Jet Airways experience for all our guests, the airline regularly studies its customers and their needs. The introduction of initiatives such as these, along with the airline’s existing services of real-time flight updates and prior check-in through SMS, among others, enable it to further raise the bar in terms of overall customer satisfaction.

Announcing this new initiative, Mr. Sudheer Raghavan, Chief Commercial Officer, Jet Airways said “This initiative, the first of its kind in the domestic civil aviation industry, is designed to seamlessly offer guests information on the lowest possible fares at that moment. We are confident that it will be popular with our travellers, and encourage more people to book their fares online at jetairways.com.”

Jet Airways has always focused on the requirements of guests to make travel easy and introduced several initiatives towards this end. Today, by sending an SMS he can check his flight status, get updates on his Jet Privilege account, check-in via SMS and now also search for the lowest fare available on jetairways.com

Light Reading, a leading media and research company for the telecom industry, has selected Rocware 2.0, a key component of Subex’s pioneering Revenue Operations Centre (ROC), as one of the top three ‘2009 Top Picks’ in the industry recognition program’s Telecom Software category. Subex Ltd, a leading global provider of operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) for CSPs (Communications Service Providers), launched Rocware 2.0 earlier this year.

Phil Harvey, Editor-in-Chief of Light Reading said,”The Top Picks were chosen by Light Reading’s editors because they embody the trends that we feel are really pushing this industry forward.”

“It is a great honor for us that Rocware 2.0 was given this award. With its enterprise-wide view of operations, Rocware 2.0 will help CSPs utilize their resources efficiently to extract maximum revenue across departments, groups and products,” said Mark Nicholson, Chief Technology Officer, Subex Ltd.

•	Acquisition establishes leading global provider of supply chain management software with more than 6,000 customers; Expands JDA’s addressable market to include Discrete Manufacturing and extends leadership in Transportation

•	Combined revenues approximate $617 million (on a trailing twelve-month basis) with a broad, seamless portfolio of products and services for the Manufacturing, Wholesale Distribution, Retail and Services Industries

•	Transaction expected to be accretive in 2010; $20 million of net, near-term financial synergies

•	Transaction scheduled to close in first quarter 2010; structured to ensure a high degree of completion certainty

JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) and i2 Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITWO) today announced the signing of a definitive merger agreement for JDA Software to acquire i2 Technologies, Inc., a leading global provider of supply chain solutions, for an enterprise value of approximately $396 million. The combination of the two companies creates a global leader in the market for supply chain planning and optimization. On a pro-forma trailing 12-month basis, the combined company has annual revenues of approximately $617 million, including over $275 million of annual maintenance and recurring subscription fees.

According to JDA Chief Executive Officer Hamish Brewer, the i2 acquisition will firmly establish JDA as a leading enterprise software company with a deep focus on supply chain management and a full complement of managed and hosted services offerings.

“Our strategic rationale for acquiring i2 is even more compelling today than it was a year ago. The challenges of the economic crisis have focused the market’s attention on the disciplines of supply chain planning and JDA has established a leading role in this active market.

Integrating i2’s solutions and expertise will only expand our opportunity to build substantial new shareholder value over the coming years.”

“Over time we have come to know the i2 business very well and based on our detailed diligence and proven track record for delivering value, I am confident that we can reliably unlock the sizable potential that exists within this company,” added Brewer.

“This is a powerful combination,” said i2 Chairman, President and CEO Jackson L. Wilson, Jr. “Our customers will be supported by a team of supply chain professionals that is unmatched in the industry. Innovation will accelerate. Our expanded geographic footprint will enhance sales penetration and service delivery. This is the right transaction for our customers, partners and employees.”

Snapshot of the Combined Company
By combining JDA and i2, the resulting company will have significantly improved operating leverage and a strong financial position. The near-term operating synergies resulting from this combination are expected to produce net annual cost savings of approximately $20 million. As a result of the pending acquisition, i2 has cancelled its previously announced conference call to discuss their third quarter 2009 financial results.

“JDA is using a balanced combination of cash on hand, debt financing and JDA common stock to finance the transaction. We intend to access the high-yield loan market to finance approximately $275 million of acquisition financing,” commented Pete Hathaway, JDA’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “The company’s pro-forma leverage is anticipated to be modest and the combined cash flow from operations will be significant.”

Terms of the Transaction
A primary goal of this transaction is to provide a high degree of completion certainty to the shareholders of both JDA and i2. With this in mind, the acquisition will be completed following one of the structures described below. JDA is pursuing the Intended Structure in order to provide the mix of consideration described below. Otherwise, JDA will complete the acquisition using the Alternative Structure.

www.humantouchofchemistry.com to enlighten their vision on science and chemistry

Tata Chemicals Limited launched www.humantouchofchemistry.com an interactive website for children on Chemistry and Science at a formal function held on 9th November 2009 to Release their Research Publication ‘Indian Chemical Industry’ by Dun & Bradstreet in Mumbai.

Based on ‘Chemicals are Good, Chemistry is Fun’, TATA Chemicals has conceptualized a portal targeted at school students. The content has been specially selected to inculcate a love for chemistry and add on to the knowledge that students are already imparted through school curriculum. The website includes information spanning different topics including environmental issues like climate change, explanation of how chemicals react and why, naturally occurring chemical compounds, indispensible use of certain chemicals etc.

Said, Mr R Mukundan, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals Limited, “The underlying need for this initiative is to create positive imagery for the chemical industry, highlight the contributions of the industry and to seed a generation of chemistry lovers ultimately resulting in building a community of chemistry enthusiasts. The site currently addressing one of the pillars of science will soon become a comprehensive platform covering many more streams of science.”

The sections, applications and ways to participate have been strategized to encourage participation by schools, students, teachers and chemistry enthusiasts. And since the sciences are now intermingled, this site also has topics that straddle physics and biology to give it a rounded science feel. Considering that the periodic table is something most children are enthused by, the site has a differently designed, easy to recall, table with visuals and animation that brings alive the elements.

About Tata Chemicals Limited
Established in 1939 at Mithapur, and part of the US$ 62.5 B Tata Group, Tata Chemicals Limited (TCL) today is the second largest producer of Soda Ash in the world with manufacturing facilities across four continents.
The acquisition of an equal partnership in Indo Maroc Phosphore S.A. (IMACID) along with Chambal Fertilisers and the global phosphate major, OCP of Morocco in the year 2005 was the first step that TCL took towards internationalization. In early 2006, TCL completed the acquisition of the UK based Brunner Mond Group (BM).

In 2007, TCL entered in to a 50:50 joint venture with Total Produce, Ireland, the third largest fruits and vegetable distribution company in the world and Europe’s largest and most accomplished fresh produce provider, to set up a fruits and vegetables distribution business in India.

TCL also plans to leverage its expertise in Chemistry & Agriculture, together with its in-house research capabilities in biology and crop genomics to develop a significant presence in Bio fuels space. The TCL Innovation Centre was created in mid 2004 to develop world-class R&D capability in the emerging areas of nanotechnology and biotechnology.

In early 2008 TCL successfully completed the acquisition of General Chemical Industrial Products, (GCIP).General Chemical’s subsidiary, General Chemical (Soda Ash) Partners (GCSAP), is one of the largest Soda Ash producers in the USA with a capacity of 2.5 million TPA of natural Soda Ash. The Company’s mining and manufacturing facilities located at Green River Basin in Wyoming, USA, are assets of a very high quality, providing access to some of the world’s largest and most economically recoverable trona ore deposits that are then converted to Soda Ash. DermiCool prickly heat powder which is a household name in India, launched DermiCool Skin Defense Talc with ingredients that defends the skin from environmental heat, it absorbs sweat, cools and soothes the skin. It is available in four variants, Tea Tree Oil, Mandarin, Aloe Vera and Khus; they provide protection, controls oil, nourish and refresh the skin all day long, respectively. Keeping the core equity of ‘skin protection’ of DermiCool Skin Defense Talc and extending into other application areas was the essence of launching an instant hand sanitizer. Using DermiCool Instant Hand Sanitizer prevents the spread of ‘Hand-to-Mouth’ diseases which lead to gastrointestinal & infectious diseases. “

With cold and flu season coming and more fear of the H1N1 flu, washing our hands is essential. Hand sanitizer is a waterless way of protecting yourself and others from germs and flu. The best way to protect yourself from cold, flu and other health conditions related to germs and bacteria is to use the combination of washing your hands with soap and water and then follow up with a hand sanitizer. With a hand sanitizer you just apply it to your hands, rub in, and let the sanitizer go to work.

And if you’re stuck between meetings and about to grab lunch at your desk, or just use somebody else’s keyboard, using a hand sanitizer before and after could be a really good idea.

Dermicool Skin Defense Instant Hand Santizer is available in 50mL personal size bottle, and is priced at Rs 50/-.

CA ecoSoftware Helps Companies Manage Carbon Emissions, Reduce the Consumption of Natural Resources, and Cut Energy Costs

CA, Inc. (Nasdaq: CA) today unveiled CA ecoSoftware products that are designed to help enterprises to manage the implementation, progress and outcomes of global sustainability initiatives more effectively, to measure and report reliably on energy and natural resource consumption, to account for carbon emissions and to reduce energy costs across the datacenter and facilities. CA offers a comprehensive solution addressing sustainability management, carbon management, environmental assessments and operational energy management.

The two new CA ecoSoftware products include CA ecoGovernance 1.5, a carbon and sustainability management solution available On Demand via Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), which was recently accredited by the Carbon Disclosure Project, and CA ecoMeter 1.5, an on-premise operational energy management solution. Delivered 100% over the Web, CA On Demand solutions are available anywhere, fully secure and rapidly scalable.

“Energy security, climate change legislation and a groundswell in public opinion on the need for more sustainable business models, make sustainability a Board Room issue — not just a lip service issue,” said David Metcalfe, CEO at Verdantix. “With this increased level of interest comes the need for organizations to manage energy, carbon and sustainability efforts across the business in a more efficient way. CA ecoSoftware delivers the capabilities organizations need to better track the rapidly changing regulatory requirements for carbon accounting, and they provide a roadmap for managing broader sustainability and energy management efforts.”

Better Manage Sustainability Initiatives Across the Enterprise
CA ecoGovernance includes a centralized repository and management dashboard that provides sustainability officers, energy and carbon managers, and other employees with visual tools for gaining improved control over enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives. It offers a common source of data based on a shared set of terms and categories, helping to facilitate collaboration, and serves as a fully-auditable system of record. CA ecoGovernance also features advanced sustainability program and project management capabilities, the ability to evaluate progress against business objectives, and automated survey assessments for use internally and externally (with suppliers or other third parties).

With CA ecoGovernance, organizations can better:
— Calculate, track, and manage carbon emissions and other environmental activity including water and waste

    — Measure consumption and spend associated with energy and natural resources

    — Enhance supply chain visibility with supplier assessments

    — Improve stakeholder engagement and communication

    — Evaluate sustainability investment decisions

    — Mitigate risk and track compliance with energy mandates

Measure Energy Used by Facilities and Datacenters
CA ecoMeter is an operational energy management solution that captures detailed energy-related information from devices within the datacenter and in other facilities across the enterprise. It is designed to allow IT, datacenter and facilities managers to attribute energy consumption and power demand to specific devices, business units, or buildings, and helps to monitor, measure, and optimize the savings of server consolidation and virtualization efforts in the datacenter.

Managed services providers can leverage CA ecoMeter to more accurately account for energy consumption down to the customer level, leading to more rapid, accurate and flexible pricing models.

With CA ecoMeter, enterprises can better:
— Understand patterns of energy consumption and power use

    — Reduce operational energy costs

    — Measure energy efficiency using metrics such as PUE and DCiE

    — Gain greater peace of mind though improved monitoring, trending and alerting

    — Reduce costs through enhanced asset utilization

    — Discover sub-optimal equipment and operations

    — Assign energy costs appropriately to business units or customers

“CA ecoSoftware can help our customers become better prepared, more effective and leaner when tackling complex sustainability initiatives across the enterprise, providing technology they need to demonstrate where and how they are really making a difference,” said Terrence Clark, senior vice president and general manager of ecoSoftware at CA, Inc. “We’ve seen with our customers that CA ecoSoftware can help companies capture data more quickly, calculate more accurately, and communicate those figures with greater confidence. It can also help them to achieve new levels of visibility and insight to choose and execute the initiatives that have the greatest potential impact on overall sustainability efforts. CA ecoSoftware gives organizations the tools to help reduce energy consumption and costs, to report and mitigate environmental risks, to identify and seize new opportunities, and to improve the bottom line showing real progress and results.”

Datotel, a St. Louis, MO-based provider of business solutions including private cloud computing, collocation, and hosted managed services, recently began a wide-spread implementation of CA ecoMeter 1.5 across its datacenter facility. The company needed to replace an outdated energy management system to monitor all existing energy-related devices (e.g. racks, generators and cooling units), and was looking for a solution that could also track energy use down to the customer level, allowing Datotel to share that data on a monthly basis via its online customer portal.

“We’ve been very pleased with the outcome of our initial implementation, completed earlier this year. CA ecoMeter allows us to better monitor and manage our datacenter capacity and energy use, and we’re now in the process of expanding the solution throughout our datacenter,” said Eric McFarland, facility manager at Datotel. “We’re also now able to more accurately track energy consumption down to the individual customer, allowing us to provide more detailed, automated invoicing of energy use, rather than relying on time-consuming calculations in spreadsheets. Our customers appreciate this new level of transparency, and can also use the data we provide to improve their efficiency — by better managing server load, for example — saving them money.”

INR113.5m long-term bank loans and INR130m fund based limits ‘BB+ (ind)’

INR60m non-fund based limits	‘F4(ind)’
Fitch Ratings-Mumbai/Singapore-10 November 2009: Fitch Ratings has today assigned A.L.L Services Under 1 Roof (India) Pvt. Ltd. (All Services) a National Long-term Rating of ‘BB+(ind)’ with a Stable Outlook. Fitch has also assigned ‘BB+ (ind)’ ratings to All Services’ long-term bank loans of INR113.5m and fund based limits of INR130m, as well as a ‘F4(ind)’ rating to its INR60m of non-fund based limits.

The primary constraint for the company is the liquidity pressure it faces. All Services has exhibited negative Cash Flow from Operation (CFO) for the last four years until FY2009 – a trend which Fitch believes could continue. The shortfall has been funded mainly through additional working capital debt as evidenced by the high utilisation levels of the fund based limits. The low CFO is a result of high working capital requirements due to high receivables combined with rapid growth in revenues and low funds flow from operations (FFO). The ratings are also constrained by the highly competitive industry, which results in low margins. All Services has seen a fall in FFO Fixed charge cover to 3.2x in FY08 from 6.5x in FY07. Further, the non-core nature of business, price sensitive nature of customer purchase behavior coupled with lack of long term contracts constrain the rating.

All Services’ ratings reflect the demonstrated growth since inception, its leadership position in a fragmented industry and long standing relationship with customers. The ratings also reflect the company’s demonstrated ability to maintain margins despite a highly competitive environment, and its ability to efficiently manage its large workforce of over 6,000 people. The company was able to improve EBITDA margins to 13.6% in FY09 from 7.6% in FY05 through increased economies of scale, and a focus on automation which improved efficiency. The ratings also derive strength from the comfortable leverage metrics with a net debt/EBITDA of 1.7x in FY09.

A deterioration of leverage over 4x and/or further sustained pressure on receivables will act as a negative trigger. At the same time an ability to generate consistent positive CFO and improvement in leverage to less than 2.5x will act as a positive trigger.

All Services was incorporated in 2004. In FY08 the company raised INR113m from an angel investor primarily to fund growth. The company provides services mainly in the fields of House Keeping & Janitorial Function, Electro Mechanical Services, Catering and Mechanized Sweeping. The company has seen strong growth in revenues to INR589mn in FY09 (FY08:INR423mn) along with improvement in EBIDTA margins to 13.6% in FY09 (FY08:11.8%).

Note to editors: Fitch’s National ratings provide a relative measure of creditworthiness for rated entities in countries with relatively low international sovereign ratings and where there is demand for such ratings. The best risk within a country is rated ‘AAA’ and other credits are rated only relative to this risk. National ratings are designed for use mainly by local investors in local markets and are signified by the addition of an identifier for the country concerned, such as ‘AAA(ind)’ for National ratings in India. Specific letter grades are not therefore internationally comparable.

Customers’ CO2 savings rise to 210 million tons in fiscal 2009 in this
fiscal 2009, Siemens generated revenue of €23 billion with products and solutions from its Environmental Portfolio. The green portfolio has grown by 11 percent by comparison with fiscal 2008, when its revenue – calculated on a comparable basis – totaled just €20.7 billion. In fiscal 2009, energy-saving motors, solar inverter systems and selected components for energy-saving building technology were among the products added to the portfolio. “Our green products and solutions are contributing to stabilizing our business during the economic crisis,” said Barbara Kux, Chief Sustainability Officer and Member of the Siemens Managing Board. The company already indicated that Siemens’ total revenue for 2009 was expected to be approximately equivalent to that of fiscal 2008.

In fiscal 2009, Siemens customers worldwide were able to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by a total of 210 million tons with products and solutions from the Siemens Environmental Portfolio – which the company first defined in 2007. This amount is equal to the annual CO2 emissions of New York, Tokyo, London and Berlin put together. In the previous year, the cumulative savings amounted to the equivalent of 160 million tons. In fiscal 2011, the annual CO2 savings are projected to total at least 300 million tons, which roughly corresponds to the current emissions of six major cities – New York, Tokyo, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Rome.

Siemens’ green portfolio showed strong growth in the area of products and solutions for wind power. Major orders, for example, were received by the company in connection with the construction of the world’s largest wind farm in the Thames Estuary near London. Large orders of this nature will form the basis for further growth in the future. Gas and steam turbine power plants and their key components, which continue to be a strong business area, have also accelerated the development of Siemens’ green portfolio. Further growth drivers are environmentally friendly trains and trams and the components for so-called smart grids, the intelligent power grids for which an important new market is beginning to develop. In this area, which is also being addressed by numerous stimulus programs round the world, Siemens anticipates orders with a total volume of around €6 billion by 2014.

Environmental Portfolio background:
Siemens’ Environmental Portfolio embraces nearly all relevant areas involving the generation, transmission, distribution and use of energy – whether it be for buildings, lighting, transportation or industry – as well as other environmental technologies. Nearly all Divisions in the three Sectors Industry, Energy and Healthcare contribute to the portfolio.

The company’s highly efficient gas turbines, retrofitting of older power plants, wind power systems, energy-efficient lighting and ecofriendly trains make the biggest contributions toward reducing CO2 emissions on a regular basis.

To qualify for inclusion in the Environmental Portfolio calculations, a product must reduce greenhouse gas emissions or, as an environmental technology, help combat water and air pollution. All Siemens products in the area of renewable energy meet this criterion. The CO2 abatement potential of other Siemens products is calculated on the basis of specific reference values. So, for example, the potential savings generated by today’s most advanced and efficient gas turbine power plants are calculated by comparing emission volumes per generated kilowatt hour with the average figure for all power plants worldwide.

The contribution of light-emitting diodes and energy-saving lamps is similarly calculated. Solutions for modernizing older power plants are also included in the Environmental Portfolio, since increasing plant efficiency substantially reduces CO2 emissions at a relatively low cost.

The energy savings achieved by optimizing electricity consumption in buildings are calculated on the basis of a before-and-after comparison.

Siemens’ Environmental Portfolio is developed and expanded on a regular basis. In fiscal 2009, the portfolio’s revenue and CO2 savings will be reviewed as before by PricewaterhouseCoopers. This review is based on the criteria defined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Initiative of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the World Resources Institute.

Siemens AG (Berlin and Munich) is a global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering, operating in the industry, energy and healthcare sectors. The company has around 410,000 employees (in continuing operations) working to develop and manufacture products, design and install complex systems and projects, and tailor a wide range of solutions for individual requirements. For over 160 years, Siemens has stood for technical achievements, innovation, quality, reliability and internationality. In fiscal 2008, Siemens had revenue of €77.3 billion and a net income of €5.9 billion (IFRS). Further information is available on the Internet at: www.siemens.com.

Commenting on the launch Mr. Rajiv Anand, MD & CEO, Axis AMC said, “The uniqueness of the offering will not be the product per se but in the way the product is communicated and distributed. We aim to offer total investment solutions to consumers and not just individual products. Our research has shown that there is a huge demand for simplicity and trust in financial services. We therefore chose to launch a simple but effective product in the category of diversified equity funds. Data from www.valueresearchonline.com indicates that in the last five years (as on 30 October 2009) all the 85 diversified equity funds have given positive returns with the worst giving 12% p.a.* and the best 34% p.a.* With a simple product and a reputed brand name like Axis, we have an appealing solution for the consumer.” *Returns are compounded annualized and based on growth option NAVs. Past performance may or may not be sustained in the future.

Mr. Chandresh Nigam, the designated Fund Manager for the scheme and a stock market veteran further commented, “We are aware that Axis Equity Fund is not just a diversified equity fund that has to perform but also more importantly, has the potential answer to a long term solution that the investor is seeking. Managing risk therefore is very critical. It goes without saying that the fund will be based on a rock solid and process oriented approach. Our proprietary four step investment process will help us manage associated risks, yet the wealth of wisdom that comes from an experienced team of equity professionals will not be discounted.”

Geodesic, an innovator in software products focused on Information, Communication and Entertainment, enters the voice communication space with Spokn, the definitive internet telephony service.

Internet voice communication so far has always had the feeling of compromise –
With Spokn that’s finally no longer the case.

Spokn is the most comprehensive service internet telephony service to date with a host of breakthrough features that will change the way voice communications is used forever.

A global service from day one with a worldwide launch, Spokn is a new generation service that is a true bridge between traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services.

Traditional internet telephony has required one be connected to the internet. Spokn frees internet telephony from the tyranny of the computer giving users the benefit of inexpensive internet calling rates on a wide variety of devices – mobile phones, smart phones, regular land lines in addition to computers. Incoming calls can ring any or all of these devices keeping Spokn users in touch whether they are online or not.

Spokn’s Free Incoming Service is a world’s first that allows Spokn subscribers to be reached at the cost of a local call from over 40 countries worldwide for free. And at a small cost they can even choose to receive these incoming calls on their mobile phones or land lines.

Voice Messaging Service (VMS) is another Spokn breakthrough. With VMS one records and sends a 20 sec message to any telephone or email account worldwide. VMS to emails are free and VMS to phones have a low and fixed cost that includes a free 20 sec reply.

Spokn also offers a traditional voice mail that is delivered to subscribers email address at no cost – when users are not connected to the Internet or are offline

Spokn also brings subscribers a free Voice Mail facility. Callers are directed to record a voice mail that is delivered to the subscribers email address at no cost when one is not connected or offline.

Spokn subscribers have the unique option to acquire their own local phone number in any of ten countries at just $1 a month. This way they can be reached at a cheaper-to-call country. Businesses with a client base in these countries can be accessible to their clients at a local call as well.

Underlining all these innovations is the fact that Spokn brings to market perhaps the lowest prices long distance calling has seen. In addition Spokn prices are a refreshing change from the complications and hidden charges of many internet telephony operators. Spokn has the transparent and clear cost structures with no hidden charges, connection fees and complicated caveats. Calls are charged in blocks of a minute and credits never expire.

These are just some of what will make Spokn the reference point for all voice communications providers.

Mr. Anil Raj heads Spokn. Anil is a seasoned telecom professional who has spent over a decade with the Ericsson group in Asia and Europe and in addition to launching the Hutch brand in India has been Chairman of Symbian Plc as well as on the board of numerous companies.

Mr. Anil Raj says, “Spokn is a true revolution in the world of telecom. Not just a new technological offering but also a new attitude. Innovative but also honest, radical in approach but simple and straightforward to use. Finally I think callers have a product that truly brings together the promise of Internet telecommunications with the convenience of traditional telephony.”

Mr. Kiran Kulkarni, Co-founder/Managing Director of Geodesic Limited adds, “Spokn is an important offering that has the potential to redefine the way voice communications and the Internet synergize. There is a huge and growing scope here and our stakeholders can look forward to many exciting developments from Spokn that changes the way people communicate.

In addition, Spokn completes Geodesic’s suite of communication services adding Voice to our current portfolio of email, Internet Messaging(IM) and SMS offerings keeping Geodesic in the forefront of communications providers.”

•	HTMA is a safe and non-invasive test to measure the levels and comparative ratios of nutrients and toxic minerals found in the hair.

•	It is a screening test to measure the levels of 37 minerals in the hair tissue

•	It provides valuable health information often not revealed in standard blood and urine tests.

•	HTMA has been globally accepted by Doctors, Naturopaths and Nutritional therapists as one of the most valuable tool for everyday preventive healthcare.

RICHFEEL Health and Beauty Private Limited – the pioneers of Trichology in India, is proud to bring HTMA for the first time in India partnered with Trace Elements, Inc. USA.

Dr. Apoorva Shah, Founder, RICHFEEL Health and Beauty Private Limited, India’s first certified trichologists and beauty physician says, “Richfeel has always introduced innovative products after intensive and extensive R&D to give optimum value to our customers”.

Dr. Shah further added “Minerals are equally important to nutrition as vitamins. Nutrition is not just vital to your overall health, but is important to the health of your hair as well. While our bodies need a variety of vitamins and minerals to support certain functions, there are specific ones that will promote healthy hair.

The hair is thus a reflection of your overall health and nowadays with consumers becoming more and more aware about their personal health and beauty, HTMA becomes a requirement. By interpreting the hair mineral test properly, one can construct a biochemical picture of the way the body is going to respond to stress.

This partnership with Trace Elements to introduce HTMA technology in India is another progressive step towards bringing innovative and quality technology for hair, beauty care and health assessment to our clients.”

How HTMA is useful to consumers??
1.	HTMA could now be a part of your regular annual health check up.

2.	If you have problems related to hair that are not getting treated, HTMA can tell you the reason for the same and you could take preventive treatments based on this.

3.	It will also help you to lead a healthy life and affect your lifestyle by keeping a regular check on your body mineral/ nutrient composition.

Dr. Watts, Director of Research, Trace Elements, Inc., Texas said, “Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis is a screening test to measure the levels of 37 minerals in the hair tissue. Over the last 15 years, HTMA has been an effective analytical test to measure the mineral content of the hair and body in the United States of America. The tests are performed with highly sophisticated detection equipment to achieve accurate and precise results.”

Dr. Watts further added, “After hundreds of thousands of hair analysis, Trace Elements have created a unique system of interpreting hair mineral analysis results. In India, Richfeel is an authority on hair and therefore this partnership will bring optimum value to the Indian consumers who will get to avail the benefits of this test for the first time.”

“Each test report will provide the clinician with the most complete and comprehensive evaluation and discussion of significant mineral levels, ratios and toxic metals as tested in the hair. Included is a listing of individual foods and food groups that the doctor can recommend to eat or avoid in accordance with food allergy indicators and individualized metabolic requirements,” said Dr Watts.

About Richfeel

Major Developments in E-Reader Market in 2009 Will Lead to Robust Growth in 2010

2009 is likely to be remembered as a watershed year in the evolution of e-books and e-readers with several milestones and product launches standing out as catalysts for change in the market, according to Gartner, Inc,. However, Gartner said that while the number of electronic readers sold is likely to increase in 2009, it expects 2010 to be the year when e-book readers really become popular consumer electronic devices, culminating in e-reader “mania” for the 2010 holiday season.

“With the entry of new players, such as Barnes and Noble, into into the e-reader market and an increase in models from Amazon and Sony, consumers began to have choices in single-purpose e-reading devices in 2009,” said Allen Weiner, research vice president at Gartner. “Among the product differentiation points are support for E Ink’s electronic paper technology, support for further book formats, and the ability of some devices to allow consumers to purchase content wirelessly and to synchronize content across devices.”

Mr. Weiner said that while fixed devices — those built solely for reading, such as Amazon’s Kindle and Sony’s family of devices — get most of the attention, book applications on smartphones are an important component of publishers’ digital strategy. However, Gartner believes that it is too early in the evolution of the e-reading market to know whether smartphones will become powerful stand-alone devices for reading books or whether they will complement other devices, such as fixed readers.

“Book applications for smartphones have the potential to become a bridge to other devices such as tablet readers and netbooks,” said Mr. Weiner. “Apple, for example, could migrate the more than 500 book applications in the iTunes store to a tablet device and Google, which recently announced a browser-based e-reader, could offer applications for Android-based devices of various form factors.”

There are a number of hurdles that need to be overcome before e-readers can become more mainstream, such as e-books needing a wider variety of retail channels, ranging from big box retailers and wireless carrier outlets to lifestyle stores such as Brookstone. More publishers must also be seen buying into e-readers. For example, there has been news about the success of Dan Brown’s e-book sales of Dan Brown’s “The Lost Symbol,” however other noted authors such as John Grisham and J.K. Rowling do not have their works available as e-books.

Gartner said that price will also play a leading role in the future success of e-readers. At the moment it appears that $199 will be the lowest price for fully featured e-reading devices for the 2009 shopping season, but Gartner analysts said that prices will need to drop closer to $99 to gain significant consumer traction.

Longer-term, Mr. Weiner believes that the future is bright for e-readers and advised publishers to be bullish in the digital distribution of e-books, newspapers and magazines. “It’s the perfect time for a trial and to establish relationships with others in the value-chain — that is service providers and digital warehouses — that can be positioned to assist in a rapid deployment if the market takes off earlier than anticipated,” he said.

Additional information is available in the Gartner report “E-Readers Will Take Off for Holiday Shoppers in 2010.” The report is available on Gartner’s Website at http://www.gartner.com/resId=1219721.

Industry Leaders Ramp-up Momentum In Advance of PM’s U.S. Visit

Industry leaders from the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), led respectively by Chairman & CEO of PepsiCo, Indra K. Nooyi, and TVS Group Chairman, Venu Srinivasan, met face-to-face in New Delhi to discuss plans to advance the U.S.-India relationship on the eve of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s upcoming visit to Washington to meet with President Barack Obama.

The Prime Minister’s historic trip to Washington will be the second such visit by Prime Minister Singh and the first official state visit hosted by the Obama Administration – representing the highest honor extended to any foreign dignitary.

CII and USIBC spoke to the importance of building on the enthusiasm generated by this momentous occasion and agreed that the future of U.S.-India commercial relations was exceedingly bright. Both organizations underscored the enormous opportunity for progress given the vibrancy of the newly elected governments, sparking confidence that the two leaders will engage in the broadest possible economic agenda for 2010.

As part of such an agenda, CII and USIBC leadership concluded with a shared view that specific attention be paid to:

•	Close coordination on economic policy as the world moves out of the current financial downturn

•	Progressing trade-related and investment issues, including the finalization of a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) and the successful conclusion of the Doha Round

•	Resolving the remaining issues related to the civilian nuclear agreement and continuing to advance Defense cooperation

•	Working toward a positive outcome in Copenhagen while fostering growth and innovation through new technologies in the Energy sector – as well as Agriculture and Life Sciences

•	Mobilizing capital investment for important infrastructure projects

•	Promoting advances in public health and educational development

“I am confident 2010 will be a watershed year in U.S.-India relations – driven by the collaborations between our like-minded governments and our ever-innovative business communities. After all, it has been the entrepreneurial dynamism of the U.S. and Indian business sectors that has propelled the transformation of our economies now underway,” said Ms. Nooyi, Chairman of USIBC.

Mr. Srinivasan, who also serves as President of CII, built on earlier comments by saying, “Working together, we can positively affect the lives of millions of our citizens for generations to come. Focusing on collaborative synergies, innovation-led entrepreneurship and inclusive growth across the strata will provide a major impetus to future growth and development.”

The meeting was moderated by Mr. Tarun Das who noted “the need for industry to think out of the box and conceive sustainable solutions to the major challenges surrounding the themes of unemployment and job growth, need for infrastructure investments and collaboration and growth that reaches the ‘bottom of the pyramid’.”

Both sides pointed to the newly revitalized U.S.-India CEO Forum as an example of the commitment shown by both governments toward achieving lasting reforms in the coming years.

“CII and USIBC welcome the discussion of our two governments to tackle the most crucial economic challenges at the highest levels and we pledge our support to the endeavor,” proclaimed Ms. Nooyi.

The PepsiCo Chairman & CEO closed the meeting by saying, “All of us in the United States look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Singh for what will most certainly be a historic and successful visit.”

The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), formed in 1975 at the request of the Government of India and the U.S. Government to deepen trade and strengthen commercial ties, is hosted under the aegis of the U.S.

Chamber of Commerce. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the growth of industry in India, partnering industry and government alike through advisory and consultative processes. CII is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry managed organization, playing a proactive role in India’s development process. Founded over 114 years ago, it is India’s premier business association. Within the overarching agenda to facilitate India’s transformation into an economically vital, technologically innovative, socially and ethically vibrant global leader by year 2022, CII’s focus this year is on revival of the Economy, fast tracking Infrastructure and improved Governance.

The Prime Minister will address U.S. Industry at the US-India Business Council when he visits the United States on November 23rd.

Whales, whose taxonomic name cetacean comes from ketos, the Greek word for “sea monster”, can be divided into two main types – toothed and baleen. In Sri Lanka the former, sub-Order Odontocetes, include deep-diving beaked whales, sperm whales, and all dolphins and porpoises.

Baleen whales, as the name suggests, have teeth and use them in the procurement and consumption of prey, such as large pelagic fish and squid. Baleen whales or Mysticetes, possess massive comb-like plates– the baleen – that extend down from the roof of the mouth and are used as sieves to separate the tiny organisms (plankton and small fish) on which they feed, from Seawater.

Of all the wonderful travel experiences that is available to the curious traveller whale watching is amongst the newer additions to it. However the presence of whales in Sri Lankan waters has long been acknowledged through the early 1980s study by Hal Whitehead, which focused on the sperm whale.

Sri Lanka has been touted as one of the best destinations to watch these magnificent creatures. The ideal time to catch whales in action in Sri Lanka is between November to April every year. The most amount of movement has been recorded in December, January and April. In December and January the whales are in transition from the Southern region towards the Bay of Bengal in the East. In April the whales are west bound towards Maldives.

However, over two decades of civil strife restricted further whale research. Then, in 2003, the Odyssey entered territorial waters during a five-year trans-oceanic voyage and again focused the spotlight on the nation’s cetacean population.

The historic journey was aimed at categorising marine mammal diversity as well as securing and analysing sperm whale tissue samples in an effort to document levels of marine pollution. Common marine pollutants work their way up the food chain, increasing in concentration as they go. As the sperm whale is the largest predator on the planet and the top link in the marine chain, its tissue provides a useful chemical reservoir for study.

There is a dense presence of sperm whales in Sri Lankan waters among the highest in the world and also a very encouraging overall diversity of whales and dolphins. For instance, the legendary blue whale, the largest animal on the face of the earth, subsists almost exclusively on crustaceans called krill which are roughly equal in length to the diameter of a two-rupee coin. The blue whale is the largest mammal and can grow nearly 30 m and weigh upto 100 tonnes.

Other baleen whales found in Sri Lankan waters include fin whales, humpback whales and minke whales. There are differences between the sub-Orders of whales. This includes the fact that toothed whales possess a single blowhole orifice while baleen whales have two.

Baleen whales are large with one of the smallest being the Bryde’s whale which grows to a length of 20m. Unlike most Mysticetes species, Bryde’s whales do not migrate long distances between arctic feeding and tropical breeding grounds and those around Sri Lanka remain there throughout the year.

Another key difference between these types of cetaceans is in their vocalisations. Baleen whales produce haunting, low frequency tones that can travel hundreds or even thousands of kilometres and are used to communicate with con-specifics near and far. Much is being learned about these evocative “whale-songs”, with evidence that in some species they get geographically transmitted, waxing and waning in popularity in much the same way as pop songs. Toothed whales, meanwhile, exhibit two forms of vocalisation, each for a different purpose.

For intra-species communication they use a series of drawn out tonal whistles, whereas for echo-location of prey they rely on staccato, ultra-sonic clicks called codas. The codas are directed at objects by a special adaptation in the forehead called the melon while the echoing reply is received through the lower jaw.

As Sri Lanka’s terrestrial fauna is spread throughout the island’s varying terrain, so its cetacean biodiversity appears to thrive in many areas around the coast. The margins of the continental shelf, where the ocean’s floor drops away to create the true deep sea, tend to be rich in feeding possibilities and thus patrolled by a variety of whales. Sperm whales can be seen in substantial numbers from the Gulf of Mannar to the southeast coast off Yala to Trincomalee and even amongst the bulky tankers in the crowded shipping lanes in the southwest.

Blue whales have been seen feeding in groups of five or six around the Basses deep water trench. These mythical giants are usually only seen alone or in pairs, leading the researchers to conclude that this region must sustain an unusually high krill population.

The smaller toothed whales are also well-represented in Sri Lankan waters with Risso’s, Fraser’s, bottlenose, spinner and pantropical spotted dolphins all present, some in great numbers. While all cetaceans are officially protected under law in Sri Lanka, a number of these dolphin species are targeted by commercial fishermen and caught as by-catch in gill-nets set for other species.

The National Aquatic Resources Association (NARA) estimates that 12,950 dolphins, mostly spinners, are killed every year. With the attention drawn to the continuing hard work and dedication of Sri Lankan marine researchers, there is hope that these dramatic numbers can be reduced through more narrowly targeted fishing strategies and awareness among both fishermen and consumers.

Generally speaking whales are intelligent, peaceful creatures, minding their own business as they cruise the endless oceans, navigating through landscapes still so mysterious to us that they evoke a sense of wonder bordering on the spiritual. We tend to be drawn also to the life history characteristics of the mighty whales, which include low reproductive rates and extended care of young.

That species like sperm whales display high levels of cooperation among females – exemplified by nursery groups and babysitters that take care of calves when the mother undertakes a deep dive – also appeals to human sensibilities. This has helped to secure a place for these charismatic creatures in the hearts and minds of people around the world.

Over 40 percent of employers in the Asia Pacific region think that their employees do not appreciate the value of benefits provided for them, according to a survey on employee benefits trends by Watson Wyatt, a leading global consulting firm.

The survey of employers conducted across 12 countries in Asia-Pacific in July, highlighted a significant gap between the value of benefits provided by the employer and their perceived value by the employees.

This represents a key challenge that employers face in the design, implementation and communication of their benefits programmes.

In India – almost 25 percent of employers perceive that their employees are unable to understand or fully value their benefits programmes.

Interestingly, India boasts of the highest number of firms at 79%, after China (84%), that have put in place a well-defined corporate benefits strategy.

For almost 40% of the companies surveyed, benefits administered are being determined globally.

“Given the gap in the value of benefits provided and the perceived value by employees, there is substantial wastage in the benefits component of the total compensation budget. Additionally, the growth in benefit costs also remains in the double digits and shows no signs of easing. Companies that are managing costs only by containing salaries could be completely missing the mark here,” said Andrew Heard, Asia-Pacific Benefits Practice Director of Watson Wyatt.

“While India and China lead the region in having a benefits strategy in place, there are more companies in India saying they provide less than 10% of payroll than the average norm in Asia Pacific. More than 55 percent of the employers in China think that employees undervalue the benefits provided to them. This is in contract to India, where employers are more positive about the value employees associate with benefits; only about one-fourth think that employees undervalue the benefits given to them” said Kulin Patel, Head of Benefits Practice, Watson Wyatt India.

The survey also found that over one-third of the companies in Asia-Pacific have not reviewed their benefits strategy in the last 12 months.

This number varies across countries in the region. Close to half of the companies in Thailand and China have not reviewed their benefits strategy. In contrast, companies in Hong Kong are more vigilant with only a quarter of the companies not having done so.

These findings have grave implications for companies on several levels – cost, employee engagement and attraction and retention of talent.

The issue of cost is compounded by the financial crisis. Cost-cutting measures are already underway in many businesses, regardless of size.

Those that are managing well are the ones that are exercising prudence in all areas of their operations.

“With benefits costs facing a double digit growth, cost containment is a major challenge for organisations. Especially since the cost of benefits could form anywhere between 10 to 40 percent of the total compensation package,” added Mr.Patel.

The research also showed an increasing interest in adopting employee choice programmes. Of the companies surveyed, 6 percent are in the process of implementing it and 15 percent are considering implementing it. A flexible benefit scheme which empowers employees to pick and choose how they want to utilise their benefits dollars, has the potential to overcome the limitations of a fixed benefits plan. It provides better control over costs, improves employee perception of benefits and thus contributes toward furthering employees’ total reward satisfaction and engagement.

“It is time for companies that are offering a fixed benefits plan to explore alternatives such as a flexible benefits approach as it has a strong advantage in helping employers build a more engaged workforce that will be ready to drive competitive success as the economy recovers,” said Mr Heard.

Fitch Ratings-New Delhi/Mumbai/Singapore-09 November 2009: Fitch Ratings has today affirmed India’s HCL Infosystems Limited’s (HCL) National Long-term rating at ‘AA-(ind)’. The Outlook is Stable. Fitch has also affirmed HCL’s issue ratings, as follow:

- Non fund-based working capital banking lines of INR17.75bn (enhanced from INR13.75bn) at ‘AA-(ind)’/'F1+(ind)’;

- Fund-based working capital banking lines aggregating INR1.25bn at ‘AA-(ind)’/ ‘F1+(ind)’; and

- Non-convertible debenture (NCD) programme aggregating INR800m at ‘AA-(ind)’;

HCL’s ratings continue to be supported by its established operations in the IT industry, growing mobile phone subscriber base, a long-standing relationship with Nokia, a strong HCL brand name and a wide distribution network. HCL has entered into new partnership with technology leaders such as Apple, Kingston and Kodak and a rapid growth in Personal Computer (PC) penetration. Fitch notes that HCL’s increased focus on system integration (SI) business with strong growth in IT spending in select industries such as power, telecommunications, e-governance, retail and health should lend support to the ratings.

HCL’s business has low fixed capital intensity and moderate working capital requirements, resulting in moderate gross financial leverage (FY09 total adjusted debt/operating EBITDA: 0.6x) and net financial leverage (FY09: net adjusted debt/ operating EBITDA: 0.1x). However, over the last five years, HCL has been paying 45%-60% of net income as dividend, which has affected its free cash flow.

Key credit risks stem from intense competition in the mobile phone and PC businesses, resulting in low EBITDA margins. Also, the current economic slowdown has resulted in lower than expected PC sales, which has affected FY09 revenue growth and margins. A large part of HCL’s revenue (almost 70% in FY09) is from Nokia’s distribution business, which exposes the company to concentration risk. Over the last two years HCL’s revenue growth was affected after Nokia started distributing its mobile handsets and took over distribution rights from HCL for West and South India, while HCL retained the distribution rights for North and East India (based on an agreement signed in 2006).

The company has recently raised INR4726.6m by way of qualified institutional placement (QIP) and issued warrants of INR2690m, and proposes to use a majority of this amount to increase its focus on the SI business and fund inorganic growth by way of acquisitions..

HCL maintains a high cash balance in its balance sheet (FY09: INR2100m). The company has a track record of low net financial leverage over the last five years. In FY09, the total adjusted debt fell to INR2,531m (FY08: INR3,797m), mainly due to the repayments of foreign currency loans.

Positive rating triggers would include a significant increase in profitability and a reduction in revenue concentration through increased income from its SI and PC businesses without an increase in the financial leverage in the medium-to-long term. On the other hand, an increase in financial leverage, a reduction in the interest coverage, a further increase in concentration, or a reduction in profitability would be negative rating triggers.

HCL is engaged in hardware and systems integrations businesses and is focused on the Indian market. In FY09, the company recorded revenues of INR122,524m (FY08: INR122,446m), and recorded profit after tax (PAT) of INR2399.5m. EBITDAR margins stood at 3.1% for FY09 (FY08: 3.6%).

New Iris Family of Products Addresses the Technology and Business Challenges of Wireline and Wireless Next-Generation IP Networks

Tektronix Communications, a leading worldwide provider of Network Intelligence and Communications Test Solutions, today unveiled a suite of new Network Intelligence products that effectively collect, correlate and analyze media and signaling data from next-generation IP telecommunication networks, turning data into actionable information that drives better operational and business results. Designed to meet the needs of both legacy and next-generation converged IP networks, the Iris suite of products consists of the GeoProbe G10, a new high-speed 10GE probe; three new analyzer applications; and a common platform that provides a single, integrated framework for current and future applications.

As the shift from voice to data applications continues, operators today are struggling to profitably manage their networks given the complex nature of the underlying data-driven technologies and the need to satisfy growing customer demands. The sudden, rapid growth in data traffic brought on by new devices such as the iPhone has caught many operators by surprise and is forcing operators to rethink their network, OSS and BSS management strategies. According to a recent UMTS Forum white paper on mobile broadband evolution[1], many operators today are experiencing as much as a 10 times increase in network data traffic, yet only a 10 percent increase in data revenue. At the same time, there is continuous pressure to increase profitability in a highly competitive market. It is critical to identify solutions from proven vendors that not only meet the data monitoring needs of operators today, but that can also scale to meet the unforeseen future needs of IP traffic. In addition, these solutions address the needs of multiple departments within a network operator, such as network operations, network engineering, customer care and product planning by providing more accurate and timely information to make better business decisions.

“With the breadth of network technologies they support around the globe, Tektronix Communications is ideally positioned to meet the business and technology challenges that operators are faced with as they evolve their networks,” said Patrick Kelly, research director for Analysys Mason. “With the sky-rocketing adoption of smart phones and other mobile Internet devices, the new Iris platform provides a more complete view of wireless data services and the resulting user experience, and ultimately ensuring greater QoS and cost efficiency.”

With this new family of products, multiple organizations within a service provider will benefit from real-time information for all service troubleshooting and performance monitoring needs. The Iris family of products includes:

? GeoProbe G10 – Based on the industry-leading GeoProbe, the new high-speed, high-density 10GE probe improves a company’s Gi, Gn and data center monitoring offering, and features a distributed architecture optimized to handle high bandwidth IP traffic

? The Iris Analyzer toolset – Includes the Iris Protocol Analyzer (IPA), Iris Session Analyzer (ISA) and Iris Traffic Analyzer (ITA), which provides L2 to L7 troubleshooting by characterizing IP traffic by links, applications and servers

? IrisView – Easy-to-use, configurable software framework that provides a single, integrated platform for all applications, including feeds to customer experience management (CEM) systems and third party OSS, BSS applications.

With the introduction of the G10 and the ITA, carriers can now manage the exponential growth in IP traffic and new services from the mobile data network all the way to the data center environment. Operators will be able to troubleshoot transport, application and server problems that are related to mobile data applications for faster problem resolution and the successful management of higher revenue generating applications and services.
