Chilly December Day

When I woke up this morning and saw the temperature reading a balmy 28 degrees out, I could not help but think of a warmer summer afternoon. Crossing the Puget Sound, one is bound to cross a diverse population of sea going vessels. On this late fall afternoon, I caught a wonderful view of a sailboat making its way back to the docks on in Seattle's Elliot Bay. With the sun almost below the Olympics Mt. Rainer is shown in her full glory!

If you have a friend who is a photographer, it is always great when they are able to do your pictures. Also, if you are the photographer, it can be stressful to shoot friends, however with this couple it was so easy and FUN!!!! We were able to find a special place I had never shot before and provided them, not being from the Seattle area, a unique setting. It is always wonderful when the couple's personality is able to be brought out in their pictures and here I truly think that is evident.

Jena & Mark Engagement Shoot

Although it was a beautiful week out, upon waking up on Saturday it seemed our luck had run out. However, the weather was able to hold out and stay dry through the entire shoot. It is nice to have an arboretum up north and not have to drive all the way into Seattle to find such beauty. Here are some of my favorite shots!

It Never Gets old. Baseball is ingrained into us as Americans. I LOVE IT! Although the local team is not doing so hot, there is something about the sweet smell of fresh cut grass, the smell of a authentic brats, where you know they just killed the animal around the corner, and the refreshing taste of a cold brewsky once you finally sit down at your seat.

Walking through the woods on a early spring day, poking through the foliage you could see the sun coming through. It was so intense and great to be out a day when we had gone 146 days below 55 Degrees.

Nisqually Earthquake 10 Years Later

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the Nisqually Quake. I had been in earthquakes before but nothing like this. I was 17 years old and still in high school. It was a typical morning history class when you started to hear the sound before a vibration was felt. Being within close proximity to the capital building, my first thought, also voiced by others in the class room was a bomb had gone off. As the vibrations started it still was not registering as an earthquake but my next conscious thought was that Mt. Rainer was erupting. The noise grew louder, and louder, the shaking became unbelievable, as if the earth itself was a salt shaker. The teacher's face became as pale as could be and just froze. Another classmate and myself, both having gone through earthquakes in California and Japan, yelled at everyone to get under their desks. As I looked through the window out into the open field you could see the ground ripple. It was as if someone had dropped a ball into a pond of water and the ripples were spreading out from the center. You could see the tennis courts lift up and then sink back down. The sound was unbearable, you would be shouting at someone six inches from your face and you could not hear a word they said.Tiles were falling glass was breaking, it went on for what seemed a lifetime but was only 45 seconds in total. Just as soon as it started it stopped.

Nessa Dorma

Its hard to believe it was over a year ago I was in Italy and experiencing the vast culture which is contained. However going back though my pictures I thought it be nice to associate some stories with these pictures.
At the Dorma in Florence, we happened upon the morning mass, and not only were we able to experience a traditional catholic mass in Italian, one of the priests invited us to take part and be part of the mass. It was a once in a lifetime.

Which Way Is Up?

As we head into winter i am reminded of where I was at this time last year. There are Vespas everywhere. This is on the street leading to," The Leaning Tower of Pisa", in Pisa, Italy. As you can see, there is not kidding about the way the tower leans as the foundations sink.

Holy smokes.. Its Been Awhile!

Wow! It has been too long. It has been such a busy summer with a full docket of weddings and other events. It is amazing to see where your time disappears to when you have none to spare! I hope all are still well.

This was taken at a recent wedding with the clouds rolling into Seattle, a few streaks of sunlight we able to seep through.

Rising in the East

Today, I want to introduce you to my cousin. She is an aspiring young photographer and has already begun to carve her own photography niche. Living not far from the ocean she is able to capture many a beautiful sunrises , " Just another beautiful sunsrise on the East Coast." Is her description the picture, which is hard o believe. If you look closely at the sand you can see the reflection of the light through the clouds. I must say beautiful composure and capture. Niki!

Sports In Seattle

Unfortunately over the last two weeks I suffered a massive computer crash which required major upgrading and reinstalling. However, after a brief shutdown, I am pleased to present a picture of our beautiful sports complexes in the Seattle area of Qwest Field (the large building on the left), and Safeco Field (to the right with the lights on) along with the magnificent Mt. Rainer in the background. On Friday we saw our first full sunny day since March 6th. Needless to say many folks were out and about on this lovely Mother's Day Weekend.

There's No Place like Home

If you have lived in the northwest, or anyplace in the United States of America, it is almost impossible to not know what the game of baseball is. As a child, a ballpark is your palace, it is the king's house, a place where all dreams can come true, where you see yourself leaping the wall to make a game winning catch or hitting the game winning home run over the left field wall. I have visited several ball parks over the years, but there is no place like Safeco Field.

From the moment you drive by on I-5 you can smell the unique aroma of garlic fries and Pyramid Ale. It is a stadium which is unique in its own right; unlike many other stadiums throughout professional sports, there is a not a bad seat in the house, every chair has an unbelievable site line.(Including these ones from the concourse just above the visiting bullpen in left field.)

It is that time of year when every thing is right with the world. When young and old can come and gather in a collective harmony to cheer on the boys in blue and white. It is baseball time in the northwest. Go Mariners!

There is nothing like that late inning come from behind win, everyone cheers, the rally caps are in full force, from ages 9 to 90 everyone is standing, hearing the crack of the bat.

A Mariners game is not only about the game played between the lines. It is about the experience, the smell of the peanuts, hot dogs, of the fresh cut grass, the game within the game, who is pitching today, is the roof open or closed.

Walking into the gates of Left Field with 10,000 of your closest friends.

Mossy Edge

60 Degrees out! What a great day to get out and explore! Using the light from the center of the trees, I was able to grab the silihouetes of the moss hanging. In Lord Hill Park this seems to be the only area where the trees are blanketed from head to toe in soft hanging moss. If you look closer you can see a spider has also staked its claim to its territory in the upper left center of this picture.

A Running Thought
