About 15,000 to 20,000 of people came for the event and it was absolutely packed. I stayed in Park Inn Hotel just outside the venue about 5 minutes walk and was lucky as I booked far in advance which was allowed me to grab a room to stay over a night.

My feeling of going to Manchester is like when I look for a pair of shoes which bargain is necessary, it has to be reasonable price, comfort and is in a good condition. It does work when it comes to choose a hotel, as too much choice that normally I would like to stick with the previous one where I stayed before however, it is always overprice when it is on the peak time (although between the hotel and I, we never agree to have the peak time as we thought).

19:50 it started with the support act.

A band from NZ Evermore had warm up the audience which performed and song for almost an hour long, drumming, keyboarding and guitar performing. I thought they were very good performers particularly the drummer, I have to give him the credits of the amazing skills he has, he has no rest and drumming throughout the period of time. I enjoyed it every minute when they song.

To be continued.

New Start....... in November

It is another day and is another month.

The temperature is getting low, the sky is turning dark earlier comparing to couple of months ago.

What that tells me…........................., the winter is on its way.

I am thinking, this winter is going to be ‘cold’, and could be an icy cold due to the very bad economic. As a result, there are no other conditions or ways to make it better (ok, there is but takes long time to recover). However, for the people who are already employed, they may want to change their career; for the jobless of course they are keeping up and are looking all the time, somehow it is a very slow process (I think so).

For instance, internal jobs provide to employed staff and after they have applied but nothing have heard from the other end; external vacancies to jobless or employed staff, after they showed their interests, they still have not received any thing from other side too, so what is this going on……??

I don’t know how many people in England are trying to change / look for a job, because under the recession whatever job you have is ‘better than nothing’, I was told by many friends and colleagues.

For the employed staff, would you follow the desire you want to achieve which is looking for a new job or just do whatever is available for an income to keep you going; for jobless people, I would like to fingers crossed for you all and wish you all the best.

I am still thinking………

Casual Friday/Dress Down Day

For some, office is a place people wish to be; it is also a place people hate too. The activity takes place once a month and is a pain; members of staff are aware of to donate the money if they take part but, they temp to get away from the fact ‘no donation’ and are still dress down.

I wrote an email to the HQ, I clearly explained my position and the situation, in fact I told them off and asked them do NOT request me to do it ever again, if they want to be a begger themselves - be my guest.

Donation is a gift or contribution especially a sum of money given to a charity, it is NOT or should NOT be forced to do so; I just can’t figure out the reason when people abuse the system and still enjoy the dress down day benefit.

(boo)

Fish

Camping with friends in the Lake District: Northern England

I specially took a half day off for camping last Friday. We decided to set off at 3ish so I dashed back from work and started packing: food, drink and of course camping equipment.

My husband said he needed a pillow. “I have to have shower gel,” I said to myself, munching on some crisps (no time for lunch!)

The weather was not looking good, and on Thursday night I rang the friends who we were going with. I explained that we might not come depending on the weather, because they were going to bring food for us, and I didn’t want them to take too much.

We checked the weather forecast every day, which was quite useless as it changed almost every hour. We hesitated: should we go or should we not? There was a little voice in my head fighting for my laziness and freedom, but we finally went.

We met our friends at the campsite, and enjoyed nice food during a heavy downpour and gusting winds.

I finally went to bed and slept at 2330 but got up at 0600 when the sky was bright but cloudy. Later on/After breakfast I went to Beatrix Potter’s house, which is now a museum: a very nice cosy cottage with gardens and a stable.

Unfortunately the weather went bad again just when we were exploring the cottage, and the heavy downpour wet me through. I quickly finished the visiting, jumped back into the car and drove to the campsite. A wet but pleasant weekend!

Pacific Asia (2)

Following my last post dated 24th July, after Hsinchu, we travelled to the south of Taiwan – Kaohsiung by High Speed Rail (HSR).

Usually, when travel between the north and the south of Taiwan, it takes 7 hours on the motorway otherwise the quickest way to get there is to fly. And now, due to the fact that the HSR has been completed, the pattern of travelling through Taiwan has significantly changed; there is a much greater volume of people going to Kaohsiung for both business and pleasure.

We stayed in a hotel which was situated in the landmark 85 Sky Tower at the centre of the Kaohsiung city's new business and shopping district; we were staggered at the height and the layout of the hotel, and the elevator brought us up the 39 floors in 35 seconds.

At night, in order to experience a local nightlife, we accepted an invitation of a friend to a club downtown. The entrance fee was about £6 pp and… drinks were inclusive, smoking allowed in the premises. Isn’t that heaven for holidaying or clubbing people?? However, they did check ID before we went in and only allowed the age of 21 or 21+ to enter.

One of the famous attractions of Taiwan is Hot Springs. Different locations gave different formations and water type so, it is recommended to try as many as possible when you travel up and down the country.

Most Hot Springs keep skin smooth; others may claim holistic treatments. You are able to ask for a private room or mucking in the public pool with other visitors of the same gender. Sitting in the hot springs pool between 10 and 15 minutes, and plunging into the completely cold water pool for a few seconds gives your skin a sudden temperature massage, and also powers up your heart beat (perhaps for the people who suffer from heart disease these treatments are not recommended). It’s good fun and washes the tiredness away after you have done the whole procedure.

I’d say, I really had a good time in Taiwan, it is a small country but it has got a bit of everything that travellers want and fancy.

Pacific Asia

I went to Pacific Asia in June this year. In this journey, I travelled to Hong Kong and Taiwan. I was surprised by the towering skycrapers climbing from the busy harbour up the steep, jungle clad hills of Hong Kong Island are an unforgettable sight; I also amazed the High Speed Rail (HSR) in Taiwan. Both were the highlights I visited this time and I enjoyed the journey completely.

I like Hong Kong; it is a very much Chinese culture where we don’t really see and happening in England. About Hong Kong, it is not a newly city to anyone, lots of sights seeing and foods just in front of you. The city life is even colourful, whether you would like to go on THE PEAK TRAM, STAR FERRY, or visiting VICTORIA HARBOUR, there is just so much to do and keeps you busy. It wasn’t the first time for me and my husband went but was the first time in 10 years. We noticed there were so different compared to our memories.

One day, from the guide book, we found a traditional Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong Island, no waiting time but the fact was, we needed to find our own seats and shared a table with other 8 people. This old – style Cantonese restaurant on the corner of Aberdeen St, packed with older men reading newspapers, extended families and office groups, has decent dim sum served from trolleys. It’s a very local place, and you need to try harder before you sit down; it was like a battle which the fast you find seats and table, the quicker you will be fed. After a few days stopped in Hong Kong, we flew to Taiwan for the next adventure.

Taiwan is the most underrated tourist destination in Asia, is also an intensely traditional place, with Chinese and aboriginal festivals, and there are more surprised: such as six national parks, thanks to its volcanic past, numerous hot-spring resorts, sensational cuisine and fascinating cultural mix.

Hsinchu was the first city we stayed, it is about 86km south of Taipei (Capital City) and thirty minutes from Taoyuan (International Airport), is famous of the huge revenues generated by the Science Park (Technology Industry Park). It’s also the gateway to the heart of Taiwan’s Hakka country.

Who Is Calling.....................

My mobile rang while I was at work, someone named himself was from one of the insurance company and would like to give me a quote regarding my bike.

“ I am ringing on behalf of $%^&* company and would like to give you a quote”

“ You what?”

“$%^&* company”

“Who are you, how did you get my number, and why you contact me for”

I honestly was surprised with his action and I hate the third parties contacting the personal mobile without any permission.

“……………” He hanged up in the end.

As you can see even you don’t give your consent away, people are always available to get your details out in some point. There were too dear to buy drinks in the venue, just like anywhere else. I used to travel to London to see such live show which was in one of many bars, apart from paying gig ticket on the door, and also pay for the drink on the top of that (tuting...).

Talk about this comedian, I don’t know him well and in fact, I’ve not heard of him but he is funny and has a good structure when he gave his talk. One of the funniest stories was when he mentioned the announcement in the supermarket. It has a very unusual tone when an announcement is made in store, such as:

“Store manager code * 113, store manager code * 113”

“Store cleaner aisle * 6, store cleaner aisle * 6”

Mind you, there are always pronunciations going on especially within the announcements where * sign are, and imagine if we all talk like that in a daily life conversations…

“What do you want for tea *, what do you want for tea * ”

“I am having a wee * , I am having a wee * ”

How funny is that! It makes your life full of fun and comprehensives, and due to that point, I just couldn't stop to laugh at it.

Think Before You Act

News is shocking me recently which is about the web murder is given a life sentence.

Consequently when we communicate with people on the other ends on these so-called social networks, I wonder are people real behind the scenes. I am aware that the more “personal” information you’ve given away, the more dangerous you’ve put yourself into, and I think we’ve all learned from others’ experiences and keep the distances and be safe.

What do you prefer?

A friend is leaving for further career by end of this month. A few friends we both know are having a farewell do for her which we want to make the most of it in these last few weeks/weekends before she takes off. I was advised to contribute ideas and I am brainstorming as I am running out the time.

I take part for a few dos in the past months, and notice I should watch what I eat in order not to put weight on easily, I disregard having a full meal and suggesting to have afternoon tea instead, friends aren’t disagreed. I am also thinking of what are we having for this so-called afternoon tea, in fact I am not a creamy tea person, I am a black coffee person. I also have another idea of having cheese/chocolate fondue, despite fruit and bread, what else can go with these two, it seems lots of works behind the scenes and I am calling for helps now.

60 seconds...........

I’ve been really busy recently, as you can see I’ve left here completely. What a big deal for me getting back here and sharing my thought again - a conflict. The row didn’t happen very often but once it started, I tried to minimize it as much as possible but it doesn’t mean I am petrified.

I share foods or fruits at work, just like the fest, and my colleagues take part from time to time. One of my colleagues gave comments after his shared and said “this is odd and is tasteless”, with this in mind, everything is volunteers and no pressures; how on earth was happened and especially was the second time he said (good job there was no one slap him).

I’ve done something I should. I politely sent him en email and told him off. Imagining I was calm and didn’t let my steams out in those 60 seconds……….I was counting and be self-control while I was shouting inside my head. I thought GOSH, in how many years goes on and I’ve learned, and to listen first action is the after and is the last.

However, you can choose your work but your work colleagues and get on with it.

Packing Anyone ...

Packing is a lesson, most people love travel but hate packing and I am one of them.

“You only have 18 kg this time…”

… ahhhh….

“We are only away for a few days…”

I know.

“Surely you are not taking travel kettle with you, are you?”

Yes, I will but not this time…

I was packing while I was making a conversation with my husband, but what worse thing would happen if you pack something that you shouldn’t, well just end up to buy more in the other end.

“….you are getting better now, and not buying lots of crap...”

Aye… I thought I am obviously getting better as you still travel with me.

Indeed, travel is fun and packing is a pain. My appointment was on Friday and I backed to work on the followed Monday, apart from the first four hours after the surgery, I’d say it was brilliant. As of within those four hours, I was advice to go to sleep after arrived home as it was the best solution to be pain-free.

I was getting frustrated with my contact lenses drying up whilst using my computer in the office; also it was inconvenience when I rode my motorbike on a daily basis. In the end, I decided to go for FREE consultations to see whether or not I am suitable for the treatment. After I knew and qualified for laser eye treatment as well as I had done price comparisons and day searched, I finally put my foot down to agree in going ahead.

“I can see things again clearly that I never thought I would”

After 22 years of wearing spectacles it is a fantastic feeling to be without them. I was nervous before surgery, I should not have worried, the staffs were fantastic, very professional and everything went so smoothly. For me, one of my outdoor activities is sitting in the garden, having a nice pot of tea or coffee with some biscuits, and slices of cake would be ideal to enjoy the peace of quiet with soft wind, sunshine and of course read some of my favorites books.

Shampoo Bottle

The biggest event recently is Oscars 2009, it was in live on the telly last Sunday night at 11pm. It's also a time to chill out and relax away from the work place, of course it won’t be me. For some of you it might be a time to explore employment opportunities in any industry although we all know it’s not easy at the moment in time. However, I wish everyone a happy half term holiday (even though I am not in the holiday mood)!!

Talk about half term, apart from Easter holiday and Christmas holiday, this is the quietest time on the road or in the office but not on the high street shopping centres or holiday resources, and certainly is not for me to receive a lazy option too!!!!!!!!!

Working, working and working ... yes, that is me.

Love in The Air

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5301500993626947890" style="DISPLAY: block; Also just about everyone speaks English in Amsterdam; many people speak German and French too but not as well; I read a guild book that it says Dutch people have to learn German at school, and they generally speak better English than German; I presume that communication is not a problem if is English speaking only if you speak to the right person.

As you probably already know, the Amsterdam authorities have a liberal policy on soft drugs (marijuana and hashish). This means that selling and buying soft drugs in the certain coffee shop (FAQ), they are allowed to sell small quantities and you are legitimate to smoke your purchase inside. However, be aware that it is not considered acceptable behaviour everywhere.

The funny thing I’ve done during to travel in Amsterdam was I finally had space cake. As I was fully understand what the effected and the behaviours will be like as well as I heard from other peoples’ experiences after they ate the cakes, so therefore I was already be good and took a small quantity each time. Although it was a small amount but it worked on me. I was giggling while I was walking on the street, its like “the high” came from no where and once it started, it was difficult to stop until its end.

I couldn’t stop laughing and my tears was running from my eyes and on top of that I spoke to my husband “it is your fault and idea” just blamed him for nothing but, it made our laughing louder and even louder…….

Weekend Break (1)

As a result of adverse weather conditions, staff are advised that they may leave the office early at ……The message/information came from an email at work and was 24 hours before the heavy snow to hit north England.

I was not surprised the cold weather and bad snow condition, and I knew it will happen before I flew to Amsterdam. The weather in Amsterdam, it was colder than in England, dry air, cold wind and snow shower from time to time, of course there was sun shine during the day as well, very changeable.

On the day when I returned to England, everything was fine and normal since the aircraft lift-off, and it was only a short flight which the plane already reached and above the destination within an hour journey. I looked down from the sky; it was clearly to see such white skin covered all over the ground, frankly I wondered that will we be able to land, Yes or No??

It was a bit of tumble landing, apart from that I amazed we finally made it, and 20 minutes after I landed, they shut the airport since, and it was Sunday night. Now then, I fully understand how passengers feel when is in a bad weather condition, although there is nothing neither you nor I can do about it and only waiting, but as one of many numbers of passenger, I should be aware and co-operating with the airport staff as well as pay attention on the health and safety instruction when displays in the aircraft.

It is not just about lucky, it is all about the preparation.

TripAdvisor reveals its dirtiest hotels in Britain awards

Everyone has their chance or reason to stay in the hotel but do you know how clean the hotels are before you check-in????
