Yes folks, the first boss of the game “error 37” is now out of the way allowing you to play the highly anticipated sequel without anymore hiccups. Sadly for people who ordered the collector’s edition outside of the US, EU and everywhere else where shipping is top notched, you’ll have to wait for your copies to arrive via snail mail.

Sony unveils Limited Edition Hatsune Miku PlayStation Vita

Things really come to those who wait PlayStation Portable Gamers who haven’t migrated on to the PlayStation Vita might want to take a look at Sony’s latest ploy to pull you in.

The PlayStation Vita Hatsune Miku Limited Edition package (really backwards naming there, let’s just stick to Limited Edition Hatsune Miku PlayStation Vita) will include a copy of the upcoming Next Hatsune Miku Project Diva and a crystal white PS Vita with Miku proudly emblazoned on it’s skin. The price? ¥39,390 (pronounced “mikumiku”), approximately 493 USD and 21,000 Php.

Pretty expensive but I am hoping (against hope) to snag one once it goes on sale on the end of August.

For gamers wanting a White PS Vita but can’t afford to plunk that much cash on the Limited Edition Miku version, it will be available on the same day from your favorite retailer.

Steam adds remote game downloads

Valve has added a much welcomed feature to their Steam client, and that is initiate game downloads and installations remotely from any device where you can logon to Steam (Android, Web, iOS). The new feature allows users to browse the service’s catalog from a web browser and initiate downloads for new or existing purchases to their Mac or Windows PC much like Google’s Play Store or Microsoft’s Xbox Live.

The only requirement it seems is to have the latest beta build of the Steam client installed.

To install the new Beta build of the Steam client with remote game download feature:

Open your Steam Client and login.
On Windows
go to File -> Settings
On OSX
Open the preferences
On the Account tab press the Change button to open the Beta Participation dialog
Select “Steam Beta Update”, and allow Steam to restart itself.

To start downloading remotely:

Login to Steam via the Steam Android App or the website
Visit your Games list by navigating to the Community and then clicking GAMES in the secondary navigation bar. If you’re logged into the Steam client, the games list will reflect the installation state of your library on that machine.
Locate your game and tap the install button to initiate your remote download.

Below is my trial run using the Android App and the Mac OS client:

Diablo III supports Global Play

While the game is technically grouped into three distinct game regions: The Americas, Europe and Asia, Blizzard has announced that Diablo III will allow you to play in regions outside their own (with a few restrictions).

According to Blizzard’s email:

“In general, players will create characters and play in their ‘home’ region, which is determined by where they live (specifically, the country of residence registered to their Battle.net account). Global Play gives players the ability to switch to any of the other game regions via the in-game options menu, either before or after they log in to the game.”

The restriction? You can not have your character (and basically your account) span multiple regions. Characters, items, and friends lists will not transfer across region (current StarCraft II players will note the same) and will require players to start a new.

Konami has just released a trailer for the upcoming release of Metal Gear Solid HD on the PlayStation Vita.

The trailer shows off the new Vita features (which may tempt you to get the Vita version even if you already have the PS3 version), including touch controls, Trophies and Transfarring.

Persona 4 Golden confirmed for US release

Atlus has great news for Persona fans as it has announced that Persona 4 Golden for the PlayStation Vita will be released this fall in North America.

The Vita edition also contains several upgrades from Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 such as updated visuals and audio upgrades with additional voice dialogues from several characters. Aside from upgrades, various changes in the game will make it quite a treat for Persona fans as there are new events, new personas and the new “Mary” character.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance EU and US release dates

I was wondering why my friend messaged me asking about purchasing an EU game while we’re here in the south tip of asia, the answer of course is that the new Kingdom Hearts is about to come out — in both the EU and US.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be arriving in european stalls on July 20 while the US version comes out US/Canadian on July 31.

Blizzard announces Diablo III Open Beta Weekend

The release of Diablo III is just around the corner and if you’re saddened by the fact that Blizzard didn’t send you an invite to the closed beta well here’s your chance to play the game before it’s official launch date.

Starting Friday, April 20 at 12:01 p.m. PDT (noon), Diablo III’s servers will allow you to join in on this Open Beta test where you’ll be able to team up with friends, and play each of the five heroic classes to level 13. The offer lasts up to Monday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT.

All you need is a Battle.net Account, a Battle Tag tied to said account and a copy of the open beta client which you can download below:

What steps do I need to take?

Log in or create a Battle.net account at http://www.battle.net

Create your BattleTag™, which is required to play Diablo III (What is BattleTag?)

Download the game client, install, and play between 12:01 p.m. PDT April 20 and 10:00 a.m. PDT April 23

I don’t have a Battle.net account — can I still play?
Absolutely! Just visit http://www.battle.net to create a free Battle.net account. Next, download the client from https://us.battle.net/account/download/index.xml and install it. Create your BattleTag, and then log in to the game using your Battle.net account name (email address) and password to begin slaughtering the demonic hellspawn that dare stand in your way.

Are there any differences for stress test participants versus invited closed beta testers?
Stress test participants will only be able to access the beta between Friday, April 20 at 12:01 p.m. PDT (noon), and Monday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. In addition, stress test participants will not have access to post in the beta forums and will not be provided Beta Bucks for use in testing the currency-based auction house.

Can all regions/countries participate?
Due to regional differences and features of the stress test client, Korean players will not be able to partake in the stress test weekend. However, beginning the week of April 23, we will be conducting a separate, invitation-only closed beta test that will give players in Korea a chance to try out the game, along with players in the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

What if the service is down/laggy/disconnecting me?
It’s very possible that players connecting to the stress test could experience issues with the service. While not ideal, this is exactly why we’re having a stress test. We want to catch and analyze as many bugs as possible during this stress test period, so that we can try to ensure a smooth launch on May 15.

I’m having an issue, how can I get help?
Due to the limited window of the stress test we encourage you to visit the Technical Support or Mac Technical Support forums if you’re having any issues running the game, and checking the Known Issueslist if you’re running into a bug. As a stress test participant you will not be able to post in the beta forums.

What platforms and languages do you support?
For the stress test we’re offering the client in English, French, and German for both Windows and Mac. At release the game will be fully localized into English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, European Spanish, Italian, Polish, Korean, and Traditional Chinese for Windows, and English, French, and German for Mac.

I’m an invited closed beta tester, what happens after the stress test weekend ends?
As an invited closed beta tester you’ll continue to have access until the beta ends on May 1.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 headed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Tekken Tag fans rejoice! Namco Bandai has officially announced that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be arriving on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The console version (both the PS3 and 360) will include 50+ characters, in comparison the arcade version, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited has only 44. A new “Fight Lab” mode will also be included to help new players learn the game while giving current Tekken Tag players more options for practice.

First look at Next Hatsune Miku Project Diva

Sega has officially opened the site for the upcoming Hatsune Miku Project Diva game for both the Vita and PlayStation 3.

Not much info on the site (at least compared to what has already been posted) is new other than the game will be using ☆ to indicate the use of “scratch” (still wondering how this will work on the non-touch, PS3 version).

Namco, Sega and Capcom unveils Project Cross Zone

Seems like crossovers are the new thing in town and the mysterious collaboration between three big game companies in the orient has been revealed via this week’s Famitsu.

Project Cross Zone is a joint effort between Namco, Sega and Capcom and is a strategy RPG with characters from the popular franchises of all three companies.

New Hatsune Miku Project Diva games for Vita and PS3

With the success of Sega’s Project Diva franchise on the PlayStation Portable (as well as the HD DLC on the PS3), many fans were wondering when the next installment of the game will be releasing (and no, Project Mirai doesn’t count). That’s all ended now as according to Sega’s official announcement, the “Next Hatsune Miku Project Diva” will be arriving on both the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 3.

Yep, the new game will be available on both consoles with the Vita version launching this summer while the PS3 version in 2013.

Details are, as of yet sketchy but here’s what we know so far thanks to Famitsu via Sinobi:

same basic gameplay systems from the previous Miku games.
new gameplay elements like touch controls (for the Vita version obviously)
new technical element where you receive bonuses by connecting combos in a specified time limit
confirmed Vocaloids are: Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, Kagamine Len, Megurine Luka, Kaito and Meiko
confirmed songs are: World’s End Dance Hall (wowaka), Pieretta (nezuki) and Cat Food (Doriko)

The game is being developed by the staff that worked on the PSP and arcade Hatsune Miku games.

Yes, those details aren’t much to work on but I’m at least hoping that the game will get the same voice switching that Project Mirai has. Details will be available on the Vita game’s microsite.

Capcom moves up Resident Evil 6 release date

After revealing a new trailer for the next installment of the resident evil franchise, Capcom has pushed up Resident Evil 6′s release date of November 22, 2012 one month early. The game will now release in the Japanese market on October 4 and everywhere else on October 2.

It’s nice to have a few games release ahead of the Japanese market don’t you think?

The Japanese launch units are priced ¥7,990 on both PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version is date TBA.

PlayStation Vita 1.66 OFW now available

After pulling the faulted firmware release 1.65 OFW, Sony has release an update, Vita 1.65 OFW.

Vita firmware 1.66 fixes the bug that disabled the adhoc play in several games after installing the previous firmware release as well as the bug that prevented PlayStation Plus members from playing Minis.

The full changelog for Vita 1.66 OFW is available below:

[Notification Alert] setting added to Settings > [Sound & Display]
[After 10 Minutes] option added to Settings > [Power Save Settings]
An arrow icon is introduced to show when PS Vita finds new activities in LiveArea.
The Caps Lock icon in the On-Screen Keyboard can now be fixed to allow a continuous string of upper case text.
The [System Music] setting in Settings > [Sound & Display] now affects BGM in PS Store, near and Sign-Up screens as well as the Home menu.
When searching for location data, users now have the option to ‘Retry’ and ‘Cancel’ when a failure occurs.
A progress bar is introduced for application installation.
A direct link to PlayStation Store is made available for new applications that users may discover on near.
Users can now update data at any time within near, provided they are within the same location.
The display time of notification alerts has been reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
Functional improvements have been made in the following games and applications: Unit 13, Gravity Daze, near.

Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost Set coming to Arcades in April

Just a few months into the release of Gundam Extreme VS on the PlayStation 3, Namco Bandai has announced that it’s successor on the arcade Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost will be hitting arcades this month.

Full Boost features the same gameplay mechanics with the addition of the “Full Boost” (hey at least it’s on the title) which will give Burst Attacks to every mobile suit in the game. The new game also features several new units like Extreme Gundam Leos Type, Victory Gundam, Gyan, Impulse Gundam, Strike Noir Gundam, Stargazer and the Gundam Thrones
