If anything I would have to say it made me go bigger. I think this is confirmed by goals that I failed to complete (the reading goals especially). Still, I don't think that the goals were unattainable. I just lost sight of the prize in July and didn't finish strong.

I would say putting these goals out in the public eye made me rethink the nature of the goals. In year's prior to 2009 I had gone with general goals (read more, sleep more, weigh less). These kinds of goals just don't inspire action quite like "read 12 books" or "run a half-marathon". I think the specificity of these goals is the best side-effect of going public with the resolutions.

Amazed at the publicness of this, but then again you lined up pretty well against your goals. Did listing this out inspire you to go bigger this year or make sure each goal is reachable?

I appreciate the advice. I'll look into it, though I must admit that my current mindset is that it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and pursue the 3.5 certification. Of course, it sounds like 4.0 is right around the corner and I've got enough to keep me occupied for a couple of months at least.

At the end of the day, I just need to make sure my focus on getting certs is to IMprove my ability, and not to prove it.

Regarding PowerShell, nothing wrong with making it a 2010 goal as well! Maybe I can give updates sharing what material I find useful in the learning process.

Thanks for the comment!

Hi Drew, I really don't want to start a certification flaming thread here but you might want to hang back and see when the .net 4.0 examinations/syllabuses are published as they're going to be a little different from the 3.5/2008 Certs.
Good list though. PowerShell was on my list this year but I never got round to looking at it!

Thanks for the input, Robert! I've tried out Bump and it is fantastic. A very cool and free app. Also, I like the Kindle for iPhone app. It's very easy to read.. you just have to be prepared to turn alot of pages.

Civilization Revolution looks awesome, and for only $4.99 it is very tempting.

I just found out about Word Ace this morning and it is fantastic. It's also a free download right now, so I would highly suggest it. It's a cross between Scrabble and Texas Hold'em.

I prefer TweetDeck much more than Twitterfon.
I'll probably have to invest in the Push app for the google accounts.

Nightstand(free) is the awesomest clock app
Bump(free): if you and another person have an iPhone and have the app running and bump your hands together that are holding your iPhones, it will automatically transmit your contact data between the iPhones.

Civiliziation Revolution(paid), Dropship(free) and Galcon(paid) are highly recommended games.

Amazon.com(free) and Kindle for iPhone(free) apps.

Those are definitely my favorite apps I have.

The Wordpress app is pretty good, but it's a little too lightweight at the moment. For example, I had to use the web interface to add the [more] break to the post. It's a nifty little app to use for quick posts on the go though. You can also see comments on the blog using it. I'll definitely keep it around.

Also, if you are interested in doing the Paint for a Cause supporting the Humane Society's Skipper Fund, they will be doing that the next two Wednesday nights I believe (May 27th and June 3rd). Make sure to check ahead of time though; just send an email to info@myPaintNParty.com or call 205-939-4599.
