Thanks for attending and for posting. More thanks for your concern and leadership in this area.

My reaction to the list is that “more resources” the only tool in Shirley’s bag. Personal and city leadership is not on her agenda. Perhaps that’s why a tax increase was her only solution.

There is much that can be done in crime…like raising support for the police(something Shirley could have done and utterly neglected) or raising the consciousness of the community (politically inconvieninet for her and the Chief) but she only thinks in terms of more resources.

Kyle, thank you for posting this. FYI, COBRA stands for Command Operation Briefing to Revitalize Atlanta.

It’s a weekly meeting with the leadership from across the APD (including the Zone Commanders) to discuss crime and discuss plans to address.

The mayor saw an opportunity to shift the conversation away from crime and away from how the city is caring for injured officers and she took it. If she is really frightened I question whether she is tough enough or rational enough to be the mayor. If she is not, then this is just cynically destroying an opponent. The longer it lasts, the worse Shirley looks. What started out as a political winner is likely to end as Shirley Franklin’s legacy.
Time to refocus on crime and on caring for officers injured in the line of duty.
I don’t think this is a leftie/righty issue. Violent crime destroys the fabric of the city for all of us. Normally it affects the poorest the most. When we insist on progress, our city government will focus on this issue. As long as we tolerate the intolerable they will keep on with their inept ways.

Here’s the thing- Kreher apologized. He knows he did wrong and he submitted a public apology to Shirley and the APD.

Now, where is Shirley Franklin’s apology for the abysmal state of our city? Where is her apology, or even a response, in regards to these officers not being provided the care they not only rightfully deserve, but rightfully earned by putting their lives on the line for us?

It’s enough to make your blood boil. I can perfectly understand, as wrong as it was, the conditions that led to Kreher making his statement.

Where is your apology, Shirley?! What are you going to do for these officers? When are you going to take ownership of the problems this city faces? When are you going to balance the books? When are you going to fire your inept chief of police?

You deserve no gratitude until you show serious concern at the state of our city and get to work on making it better. This is coming from a lefty liberal who has had it with your tired act.

We’re (still) waiting…
