L'accusé On ne sait pas grand-chose de cet écrivain mexicain né en 1965, scénariste de bandes dessinées et auteur de romans, dont le premier, Martini Shoot, est également le premier à être traduit en français. On prend le pari que cet auteur ne restera pas inconnu longtemps.
Les faits Il s'appelle Sunny Pascal, "mi-tout : mi-mexicain, mi-gringo, mi-alcoolique, mi-surfer, mi-vivant, mi-mort" et surtout détective privé et "limier beatnik" engagé par la production de La Nuit de l'iguane, de John Huston, pour veiller à ce que les stars du film, Richard Burton, Ava Gardner ou Deborah Kerr, ne soient pas embêtées. Elles le seront évidemment.
Le verdict La découverte du moment. A lire en urgence. Un polar arrosé et drôlement grinçant sur le milieu du cinéma, ses acteurs et ses anges déchus (souvent les mêmes), perdus au fin fond du Mexique et accrochés à leurs bouteilles comme à leurs illusions. Un régal.
