Craig Steely Architecture is a studio based in San Francisco that combines “formal elegance with classic modernist tradition”. Beaver Street Reprise is said to be “a conceptually modern house that fits contextually into a Victorian neighborhood”. We think this projects is daring and stands out due to its beautiful wooden exterior design and the dashing indoor arrangements. Bright colors, amazing furniture and decorations contribute to the distinctive personality that this residence obviously has. A few elements draw attention, such as the suspended fireplace or the unusual coffee table.  Beaver Street Reprise houses an all-equipped apartment, an office, a wide living area, and a deck. Definitely a nice way to embrace contemporaneity in design.

Check out this architecture firm’s modern take on a traditional Swiss chalet. Based in Switzerland and Los Angeles, tecARCHITECTURE conceived this cottage style house design that takes rustic-chic to a new level. Rather than settling for something expected, the homeowner commissioned tec, who played within the rules but manager to design something totally original and unforeseen. The cool, glass cottage design features a conventional roofline, but apart from its silhouette everything about it is contemporary. The minimalist facade boasts glass walls and open-air terraces that invite the outdoors in. Each room is naturally sun-soaked, and features a cool white palette with warm wood floors that add a sense of simple luxury. The view from the terraces is simple spectacular. tecARCHITECTURE

Swiss architecture firm Nimmrichter CDA Architects are the creators of this atypical Switzerland timber home design on the outskirts of Zurich, Switzerland. And while this wood house may use traditional materials, its architecture is contemporary cool. A strong horizontal presence is anchored by the roofline and the pattern of the timber panels finishing the facade. The minimalist shape of the structure is adorned by nothing but clean-lined windows and doors. Interiors are too timber-clad, only with a sophisticated refined edge. Wood is used as the main element to finish floors, walls and the main staircase that leads up to the private upper level. Expansive balconies with sliding glass walls open to the outdoors. The Kaufmann House is located in Palm Springs, California. It originally was designed by Richard Neutra in 1946 and recently renovated by Marmol Radizner architecture practice. Many critics place the house amongst the most important houses of the 20th century in the United States and even was included in a list of all time top 10 houses in Los Angeles in December 2008. It features five bedrooms and five bathrooms and designed to emphasize connection between a rugged desert and a suburban residential neighborhood. Large sliding glass walls open the living spaces and master bedroom to outdoors. Most of outdoor areas have movable vertical fins that offer flexible protection against sandstorms and intense heat. Gregori Residence and Beach House, located in Todos Santos in Baja, Mexico is a beach-lovers dream house. This beachfront bungalow-style house designed by Gracia Studio is simple in its composition and construction materials, focusing more on the views – and rightly so! The mountains sit on one horizon, and the waves on the other, and at the center this low-profile house spreads out across the sand. Outdoor living spaces make the most of this home’s heavenly surroundings. Expansive folding-glass doors open onto a large deck with a pool – a refreshing refuge from the sweltering sun. A grass-woven awning and screens provide shade, and are the perfect complement to the tiled facade and interiors. Villa San Valentino comes from Austrian architect Stephan Unger and is located in Merano-Alto Adige, Italy. Although it may look traditional on the outside- so perfectly integrated in its environment and enriched with beautiful wooden finishes- this home couldn’t be more modern. The architects’ task was to “plan a bi-familiar house on high architectonic level for the cohabitation of 3 generations with common spaces”. It’s simply amazing how the need for space was satisfied. Which brings us  to the project’s unique shape, featuring a three-dimensional facade said to “answer to the characteristics of local mountains”. The building also has some energy efficient additions and beautiful floor to ceiling windows in order to ensure good lighting throughout the day.
