2013-01-11T04:20:00.000-08:00

Yes we are talking about Nvidia Tegra 4, which has officially been unveiled at CES 2013. This beast of a thing which would be powering the upcoming smartphones features ARM's most advanced Cortex A15 chip, which is a quadcore. Furthermore it has 72 GPU Cores and on the go support for 4G LTE + 2nd Generation Battery Saver Core. So in total it comes with 5 cores with 4 cores dedicated to provide the processing power, hence named a quadcore device.

Nvidia Tegra 4 - A New Era of mobile chip

The new Nvidia Tegra 4 with its effective 4 cores of processing power delivers six times stronger GPU power than Nvidia Tegra 3. This allows the new chip to deliver better graphics and a smoother gaming experience on smartphones. Moreover it adds in support for higher resolutions at a refresh rate of 120 Hz along with 4k support.

As demonstrated in the conference, the Tegra 4 can also render HDR Pictures and Videos in real time.

Tegra 3 still does a good job at providing considerable processing power for games and runs them smooth. Exclusive game titles were released featuring the Tegra 3 devices. With the release of Tegra 4, more exclusive titles are expected to be released.

Comparatively the new Tegra 4 would deliver almost a 3 times faster browsing experience on mobile devices.

Some of the other key features include:

Computational Photography Capability

Among the Tegra 4 processor's breakthroughs is its Computational Photography Architecture, which automatically delivers high dynamic range (HDR) photos and video by fusing together the processing power of the GPU, CPU and the camera's image-signal processor.

Its HDR capability captures images, including those taken with a flash, the way they are seen by the human eye -- with detail in both bright and dark areas.

Unprecedented Power Efficiency
Designed for maximum energy efficiency, Tegra 4 includes a second-generation battery saver core for low power during standard use, and PRISM 2 Display technology to reduce backlight power while delivering superior visuals.

Tegra 4 consumes up to 45 percent less power than its predecessor, Tegra 3, in common use cases. And it enables up to 14 hours of HD video playback on phones.

Summing up the Top key features

GeForce GPU with 72 custom cores

Quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 CPU, plus a 2^nd Generation Battery Saver Core

Computational Photography Architecture

LTE capability with optional Icera i500 chipset

4K ultra-high-def video support

The new chip has a lot of potential and comparatively for now is the fastest mobile chip available, as shown in the graph below.

Best Android Keyboard

2013-01-11T03:10:00.001-08:00

The Android OS gives its users the freedom to customize their phone the way they like and use it on what to them seems feasible.
There are a number of keyboards available in the Android Market however I will share with you all the best one among them.

Swiftkey

This is one of my most favorite keyboards. In my opinion Swiftkey has the best prediction among all the keyboards available in the android market. Moreover at a time Swiftkey supports up-to three languages. All you have to do to use the other language is to swipe your finger on the spacebar.

Choosing another language in Swiftkey

You also have the choice to choose your typing style. If you are slow and like to type carefully then choose the "precise" typing style. However, if you are a quick typist who wants Swiftkey to do most of the correction then you can choose the "rapid" for your typing.

Recently Swiftkey also released a beta version of a keyboard, also known as Swiftkey Flow. This uses the swipe technology allowing its users to simply swipe their fingers to write a word. It does the job pretty well and even does it amazingly for languages other than English.

You can try it out by downloading the beta from their website. Swiftkey Flow Beta

The only thing that I do not like about Swiftkey is that it uses a decent amount of Ram. This would obviously not be a problem for the people owning high end phones, however, if you are low on budget and have a low end smartphone, Swiftkey might lag a little for you. However it is totally worth a try.
