This is a photo from one of my very first newborn sessions back in 2007. I stumbled across it yesterday and did some re-editing. I love seeing how even when I was just starting out, I leaned towards lifestyle newborn sessions and 5 years later it is still my favorite way to photograph a newborn.

If you are expecting a little one, it is best to have him/her photographed in the first 10 days of life. Contact me before you have your baby so we can get you on the calendar. Often new moms call me weeks after the baby is born and we have missed capturing those precious moments that happen during the first few days of bringing baby home.

Pray that we make it out of January in one piece!

But this past week she discovered that she can draw. Stick figures. Faces. Mommies and Daddies. Circles with circles in them and lines that in her eyes say words and describe real life. There’s pen marks on the chair, on the kitchen table, on the coffee table and on her little hands…I don’t mind. I’ll always remember this week as the one we all got horribly sick with the stomach flu…and when Lily made her discovery.

I just came back from a quick family vacation to Disneyland and while I was there, walking through Tomorrowland, I realized I never shared the rest of this session (which had a small Star Wars theme to it!)

We celebrated Jesus and who He is to us. We opened gifts, not too many, just the right amount. We ate our traditional cinnamon roll breakfast and then bacon for snack. There were tears of joy and lots of hugs and “thank you’s”. As each year goes by our family gets a little bit older, and Christmas becomes more and more relaxing.

All cheeky-ness aside…I know exactly what Christmas means to me. Yes, it is about family, giving, laughter, love, hugs, kisses and joy. But the REAL reason is to celebrate and thank my dear Lord Jesus for coming down to earth as a baby, for living on earth, sinless and perfect, for dying on the cross for my sins and raising up from the dead. Christmas is about celebrating the living God that I serve!! Oh wow…gives me goosebumps :)

I pray you have a wonderful Christmas holiday.
