Classroom is All Set for #VBS

Last Thursday, our group for #VBS (Vacation Bible School) made our final meet up to set up the classroom. We were assigned to some activities and I got the crafts which will be done in the classroom. One adult is in-charge for the games which will be done outdoor; one for the songs which will be done in every activity and one adult is in-charge for story telling. I am really excited. We were expecting 12 children in our group but, we are all set for 20.

We set up the room and put some posters to make the room ideal for this activity. We also set up the castle where kids can play in between the activities.

Now, after 5 years, this will be my second time handling children in a classroom. I am truly excited. The first time was when I was a substitute teacher in a daycare and was assigned in one year old and twos. This time it will be different because I am a volunteer for this one week event. Our group will be handling 4 year olds and most of them are boys. I heard there are active boys who signed up, LOL. I am confident though that all of us will be having fun.

I went to volunteer for a Vacation Bible School in our church and it was very interesting. I met 3 ladies who is the director of the event and the other two were parents. It seemed that they knew each other so well and being new I was just observing. It was so nice to be in a classroom again. Anyway, as we head back home, I requested that we drive down the Indian River Drive.

If you happen to visit Cocoa area, these are the usual views that you will enjoy watching from the window of your car. We took the route along Indian River Drive and it was a 3.5 mile long so; I truly enjoyed the ride.

I asked my husband if he won a lotto, would he consider buying a property here and his answer is a big NO. LOL. We live about 5 minutes away from Indian River FYI. Anyway, you probably asked why? I have answer to that. The view here is fantastic and you will always get lucky to find dolphins swimming close by or if you have a private dock, you will see them jumping once in a while.

But, there are certain months that the smell of the river is truly stinky. The bridges have tended to impede the flow of red drift algae, resulting in an odor of hydrogen sulfide in the area. You will never imagine how foul the odor is once you drive down here. The view? Perfect! There are huge and beautiful houses in the area with manicured lawn but, maybe, they get used to the odor.

Pretty Orchid in Bloom

I thought this orchid is dying but, look at the flowers. Right now, it is showing up buds so; the yellowish leaf in there didn't matter. This orchid will survive this heat! I added the orchid potting mix about two weeks ago, it did help for it bounced back to life.

Planning of adding two more orchids this year. I hope orchids will like me (wink).

Tables Beach Along South Atlantic Avenue in Patrick AFB

It is Sunday today so; obviously we went to church early in the morning. Hubby already made plans that after the church, we will go to the mall. Most of the department stores in Merritt Island Mall opens at 11 AM so; we decided to drive down the beach and this time, heading to Satellite Beach.

We passed by Ron Jon's and when we reach the Patrick Air Force Base North Housing, we decided to stop there. At the front of this place is a nice beach open for public called Tables Beach, 45th Space Wing, United States Air Force.

There were a lot of people on the beach. Sunbathers, surfers and there were two who had jet skies. Glad that we have our beach chairs with shade on it so; even the sun was a scorcher, the shade of our beach chairs truly a relief from the scorching heat.

The waves are big but, swimmers enjoyed it. We were just enjoying the breeze. We decided that later in the afternoon, we will drive down the Atlantic Avenue again and just see the sunset. I will surely share tons of photos. Thanks for stopping by.

Moving Experience: The Positive Side

Moving is a hassle, I get that! It is a transition that can turn either good and bad. I will not dwell on the negative aspects of moving because we all are aware of what those are. You know, packing and unpacking; loading and unloading; finding a reputable moving company with reasonable price; finding a new school for the kids; anticipating the new neighbors and the neighborhood, and many more.

I have a friend who moves from the US to Asia and her experience was not bad at all. She hired a professional cross country movers and all she did was segregate the things for the kitchen, living room, bedroom and the office. The professional movers did the packing, labeling, loading and making sure that all the things are accounted for in excellent condition when they arrive on the destination.

When the cargo arrived, the company delivers the boxes and their things in their current address. In short, she and her family settled in their new place in few days. She was so happy that they move and that the neighborhood is very pleasant. Now, this move is temporary due to the nature of her husbands' job. It is very likely that when they move back to the US in few years, they will hire the same moving company again.

To know the culture of other country is amazing especially when you live there in few years. You will learn to embrace their way of life; appreciate the taste of their food and most of all, learn their language is an experience that is worth the risks. These are the positive sides why moving is not bad at all. It could turn out to be fun, exciting and a learning experience for you and your family.

First Friday of the Month

My husband is excited for first Friday of the month. It's nothing special to some but, for him, it is a date that he looks forward to. I was really amazed that my husband religiously attended mass every Sunday for about three years now. Way different during our first two years in marriage. NOPE! It's not the doughnuts that keep him from going. (Shhh... it was actually the reason why; he tagged along with me on those two years, LOL) It did work huh?

I admit, he was the one who pulled me out of bed to get ready for 8AM mass. Dang! That's really early for me but, I want to support him. I was really happy to see his eagerness to be on time in the church, sitting on the same pew, greeting the familiar faces around us and most of all, he is attentive in the church. (Another shhhh LOL before, his eyes are always observing who came late and who's child is unruly LOL) He has changed for the better. He seldom swears. He is trying to extend his patience on things/incident that he cannot control and he is trying to control his temper. He is practicing a sound judgement.

I would say, I am lucky to have him as we journey on our faith. I remember the saying, "A family that prays together, stays together". Anyway, we attended the First Friday Mass and the Novena for Sacred Heart of Jesus today. As we went home, we drove down along the Indian River Drive and I took some photos. My Geisha Adult Costume

When I attended a Halloween party last October, I saw someone wearing a Geisha outfit. I like the print and the style. I was thinking, it would be nice to wear that outfit for the party sponsored by my friend. Luckily, I got one from Wholesale Halloween Costumes. Driving Down to Indian River Drive

This is the Indian River in Florida. This is part of the Indian River Lagoon system. This body of water extends southward from the Ponce de Leon inlet in New Smyrna Beach and across the Haulover Canal up to the western shore of Merritt Island. This river was originally named Rio de Ais from the Ais Indian tribe. Indian River is shallow and it is about 121 mi or 195 km long.

On this particular day, hubby and I enjoyed our short road trip along the Indian River Drive. Did you know that it stinks here sometimes? At certain seasons of the year, "bridges have tended to impede the flow of red drift algae, resulting in an odor of hydrogen sulfide in the area".

5. Skewers
6. A watering can

Here are the steps:
1. Fill it- Fill the crates with potting mix.
2. Plant it- Plant your seeds and imagine it is a happy hour. (wink)
3. Take it Easy- Keep track of each plant with a wine cork skewer. Give them plenty of sun, water and plant food.
4. Green Thumbs Up- Garnish your drinks and say cheers! Wallah!

Along Indian River Drive

It is summer time and I bet, you are dreaming to go to the beach and enjoy the cool breeze of the water right? If you live in Central Florida, you have so many options to either head to the Space Coast or towards the Gulf. Either way, beaches are awesome!

As for me, I can just hit the road and drive down the Indian River and will definitely enjoy the scenic route along NASA Parkway, Indian River Lagoon and Indian River Drive. The photo is a private dock along Indian River Drive. Take note of the names mentioned and if you have nothing to do, come by here along the Space Coast. Enjoy the ride!

Pantoon Boat Covers

I took these photos in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. What a great view right? This is the Harbor Landing facing the Gulf of Mexico. Down below is a boat dock and on the right is a boat storage. My husband and I always unwind this place together with a cousin. The scenic view is beautiful but, when there are nasty hurricane, the road you see on the right will be flooded. For most days of the year, this place is serene and the scenic is breathtaking.

My father-in-law has a pontoon boat but, since I am chicken with gators on the bayou and sharks on the sea, I don't go out with them for boating. I stayed on the Pier with my iPad and blog (wink). Anyway, when no one is using the pontoon boat, we always put the pontoon boat covers to protect the boat against the sun, rain, wind and the birds. Oh yeah, birds are too many in our area and they love to do their business on the clean boat LOL. If you own a pantoon boat and you hate cleaning it up all the time, buy a boat cover. It will save your energy and time.

Here is the boat storage on the side of the Harbor Landing. Many residents in the area own a boat and a yacht. How about you? Do you own a pantoon boat or a yacht?

By the Gulf Coast

I remember this day when the late FIL called the men in the family for a boating trip on the Bayou. He just bought a pantoon boat during the Boat and RV Show. I was not with him when he bought this. I could have told him to buy a smaller yacht instead (wink). He asked me if I like it. I told him, the small yacht is a lot nicer LOL. Oh, I miss him a lot!

Probably 10 minutes away from where we live is the East Beach and Front Beach. Every day after my work, hubby and I took the scenic route towards Ocean Springs Mississippi. I got out from work at 7AM, just in time for sunrise.

The view here is fantastic! Before we head back home, we always have breakfast in any of the buffet/hotel/casinos in the area. There are almost 10 but, our favorite place to dine are: HardRock, the Isle and Beau Rivage.

Here's hubby enjoying the view by the Gulf Coast. We will probably go there on my birthday this year.

Pull Out Shelves

When we bought our new house a year ago, the kitchen was totally outdated and dingy. That was probably the reason why the first buyer backed out. When we survey the place, we were able to see beyond the facade. We saw the potential and we already plan to splurge the kitchen. We got the place and before we move in, we hire a contractor to renovate the kitchen.

Best selection of pull out shelves are trendy and though we have that in mind, the store ran out of stocks. We were torn between having the desired materials or purchase our second best pick in order to move in within the time frame.The latter was the sensible choice at that time.

A Beautiful Wednesday

How was your Wednesday? I hope you had a beautiful day and are all safe today. As for me, I had a wonderful day despite having this migraine. I was in and out of my desk top. How was the weather in your place? Here in Florida, it was awesome especially down here in Brevard. The day actually started gray. When we went to THE AVENUE MALL at VIERA, dark clouds covered the whole area. I thought it would rain hard but, it didn't.

On our way home, we drove down the Indian River Drive and I took some beautiful shots of some private docks in the area. I was envious to see their huge and humongous homes hehehe plus, they have boat docks. Of course, most home owners in the area have boats ... nice one. Memorial Day Weekend

How was your weekend Memorial Day Celebration everyone? Have you been to your grannies? Have you visited a cemetery or a memorial park in your area? Did you have a wonderful time with your family? Whatever you did today, I hope you had the time to remember the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. As for me and hubby, we just stayed home. Tomorrow, we will definitely visit the memorial park in either Merritt Island or Titusville.

The African Grey

Did you know that African Grey has amazing ability to reason and has the talent for clearly mimicking human speech? That is why; I want to have one. When I was in college, my aunt has a Mynah bird and he was hilarious. He was taught with crazy words to scare people away. It mimic my voice too and sometimes, it will just say something that makes me laugh. It will mimic my laughter too then, I get mad. LOL.

Anyway, this is an African Grey and typically pick up on words and even the sounds very quickly. The African Greys have the reputation for repeating everything they hear so; if you own one, be careful with everything you say in front of the bird.

African Grey is one of the most intelligent parrot species and because they have high IQ's, it means that their owners must give more time to teach them. This is just a baby and doesn't talk yet. He is very observant though and doesn't like me at all LOL.

This is my second visit and he totally recognize me. He's not aloft this time.

He was just looking at me. The African Grey Parrot usually found in the rainforest of West and Central Africa. According to the experts, African Grey is one of the most intelligent birds in the world. They feed on nuts, seeds, fruits, and leafy food. They are gentle in nature.

I started checking about their life span and was glad to know that African Grey is a long-lived bird. They can live up to 50-60 years according to World Parrot Trust lists. In The Guinness Book of World Records, they have a record listed for 72 years, the longest-lived specimen for the species.

One of the household chores that I enjoyed doing is gardening. I love waking up in the morning and check if my flower plants are blooming with flowers. I don't mind touching the dirt with my bare hands and I just love hanging out in the backyard. While I was visiting few blogs, I read some positive reviews about Soothing Company products. Gardenia Bonsai

Bonsai means little trees in pots. According to the Soothing Company, the art of bonsai is originated in China and later refined in Japan. Bonsai is recognized as an international art form and I was lucky that Soothing Company sent me a bonsai for free. I love that the bonsai they sent me is a Gardenia about 4 years old. It arrived in good condition. The package was neat, perfect and the plant is very healthy. You can visit the Soothing Company and purchase a 6" - 8" gardenia at $40. It is very pretty and I can assure you that it is worth buying for. Gardenia blooms from March to June. My gardenia bonsai is showing buds. I can't wait to see them in full bloom and smell its sweet fragrance.

UPDATE: AFTER ONE WEEK

I was truly amazed to see the buds in bloom and these Gardenia flowers are so fragrant. I suggest that you do not dehydrate the plant and keep it away from direct sunlight. Would I recommend this product? Yes, definitely! Go and check it out.
