Couldn’t take our cats to Indonesia

After getting all our papers and vaccination ready on the US side of things, we found out today from the Department of Livestock in Indonesia that we can’t take cats into Bandung, Indonesia as that is a rabies free zone and US is not.

So we are trying to find a new home for our two cats (this is really really really hard for us). We’ve had Putih (pronounced as poo-ti, which means white in Indonesian) since he was a tiny little kitten, we’ve had him since 2005 and he had grown up with us. Now, it is really hard for us to let go of him.

Our other one is Kucing (pronounced as koo-ching, which means cat in Indonesian); we adopted her in 2006 and she’s very very special to us. I think she’s an introvert and very shy. She took a long time to warm-up to us and that makes her very special to us.

We are selling our Ikea dining table, with two chairs which has a navy blue color. The table can be expanded to seat more people, but it’s a good size table for a small family.
The chair covers are worn out and they either need to be washed or replaced, other than that there is no other problem with this set.

We have 15 more days in the US, which means we have 15 more days to:

Pack the boxes to ship via ocean freight
Sell/give away all our furnitures at home
Get shots for the cats and get an health certificate
Close all our credit cards/bank accounts
Pack our checked-in baggages
Last but certainly not the least, saying goodbyes to our dear friends

15 more days to get on the flight to start a new chapter of our lives. Meet our “new” friends over the ocean. This is a hard but exciting transition for us and we appreciate all your prayers.

We are trying to sell this car to raise support for our move to Indonesia. We bought this car last year from our friend who rarely drove this vehicle; it had only 26k miles when we bought it. This car got a tune-up, and regular maintenance at Firestone over the last year. The tires are brand new, we had to replace them couple weeks ago when one of them went flat.

Known problems on this car: Although this car runs great, there are some minor problems with this car. I am not a good car sales man, I would like to be honest with you if you are interested in buying this car. The rear right door doesn’t open from the outside. Rear left door’s power window just stopped working (probably a fuse). The power antenna doesn’t retract all the way.

Where did May go?

Can’t believe it’s June already. There are lot of things going on in our lives and a huge change that’s coming our way in less than 9 weeks. We have been planning, and thinking about moving to Indonesia since the beginning of this year, and you would think that we should have everything under control; well it’s nothing but that.

If you would have to walk into our house right now at 3:30am, you would see boxes of all sizes all over the living room. We are trying to ship some boxes via ocean freight. We found this shipping company called American Baggage through our friends who are in Indonesia. Their prices are very low compared to other shipping companies that we’ve found.

June 18th will be my last working day at ConsumerTrack, Inc. It would have been four years this August since I joined them. I am so grateful for working with a smart group of people who also care for each other. I’ll truly miss working here. I remember talking to my HR last week telling her how much I enjoy doing what I do there at ConsumerTrack. I’m not leaving ConsumerTrack for any other reasons other than we feeling compelled to move to Indonesia.

Leaving and saying goodbye to friends and families here in the US is going to be hard for us. Although Indonesia is closer to “home”, US has been our home. This is the land where we got married, where our son was born and it feels like most of our life “happened” here. I spoke to one of my good friend earlier this week over the phone. He asked me how do I feel about this move? And my answer to him was: “Sad, anxious, and happy”. His response to that was: “That sounds about right”

We will be traveling to Southaven, MS for a pre-field orientation with Network of International Christian Schools during the last two weeks of June. NICS is the umbrella organization that overseas more than dozen international schools all over the world and Bandung Alliance International School where I’ll be teaching is one of them.

We are praying for people who would stand with us in prayer and through financial support as we step out in faith in this next phase of our life. We don’t know much about what’s ahead of us, except that I’ll be teaching computer programming and web design to high school kids in Bandung Alliance International School; but we know that we are lead to go to Indonesia. April Update

2010 has so far been an eventful one. So many things have come to pass and there are more changes coming in the near future. One of the hard thing that happened to us was the death of my father in February. No one expects death and not certainly for a healthy man who is in his early 60s. My father choose to leave us but he made sure that we are all doing well. Even in his last days he put his children comfort and care before his own. He’s my earthly father that I will not be able to see anymore, but I’m thankful for my Heavenly Father who is always with me.

There is another huge transition coming our way this Summer. Some of you might already knew about it, but for those of you who don’t – we’ll keep you posted with updates here in this blog.

XMLRPC Patch for WordPress 2.9.1

The latest release of WordPress 2.9.1 has a minor bug in the xmlrpc.php file which prevents the user from creating a new post remotely. There are quite a lot of issues with the xmlrpc.php, one being that the xml returned is not well-formed and the other is calling an method on an array.
I ran across these issues when I was trying to import some posts into WordPress using XMLRPC with Zend_XmlRpc_Client.

Anyway, the patch here will allow you to insert the post:
