Me first!' says the admin clerk. 'I want to be in the&lt;br /&gt;Bahamas , driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.'&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Puff! He's gone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span id="fullpost"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;'Me next! Me next!' says the sales rep. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But one hundred years later, the Negro still is not free. One hundred years later, the life of the Negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of discrimination. One hundred years later, the Negro lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languished in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of racial justice. Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in America until the Negro is granted his citizenship rights. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the warm threshold which leads into the palace of justice: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We cannot walk alone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We cannot turn back.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are those who are asking the devotees of civil rights, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. *We cannot be satisfied as long as the negro's basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our children are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by a sign stating: "For Whites Only."* We cannot be satisfied as long as a Negro in Mississippi cannot vote and a Negro in New York believes he has nothing for which to vote. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."¹&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I am not unmindful that some of you have come here out of great trials and tribulations. Some of you have come fresh from narrow jail cells. And some of you have come from areas where your quest -- quest for freedom left you battered by the storms of persecution and staggered by the winds of police brutality. You have been the veterans of creative suffering. Continue to work with the faith that unearned suffering is redemptive. Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama, go back to South Carolina, go back to Georgia, go back to Louisiana, go back to the slums and ghettos of our northern cities, knowing that somehow this situation can and will be changed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let us not wallow in the valley of despair, I say to you today, my friends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream today!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of "interposition" and "nullification" -- one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream today!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together."²&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This is our hope, and this is the faith that I go back to the South with.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith, we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And this will be the day -- this will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From every mountainside, let freedom ring!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from the snow-capped Rockies of Colorado.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But not only that:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From every mountainside, let freedom ring.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And when this happens, when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Free at last! asking Children how do they feel &lt;br /&gt;about their parents who are struck inside terrorist captured &lt;br /&gt;buildings &lt;/span&gt; and what kind of strategic positions our &lt;br /&gt;commandos are taking to attack the hostage taken buildings there&lt;br /&gt;by giving proper inputs to inside terrorist to fight longer and&lt;br /&gt;better.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today I was reading ,The Economic Times and came across an article &lt;br /&gt;titled "&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;Raju does a better job than&lt;br /&gt;Lashkar-e-Toiba&lt;/span&gt;",basically projecting that Mr.Ramalinga &lt;br /&gt;Raju has done more damage to our country than any Pakistani based &lt;br /&gt;terrorist's could do [done] &amp; what kind of near-shore options US&lt;br /&gt;based business clients have etc,WTF?,everybody will concur that &lt;br /&gt;whatever Mr.Raju has done was a great disgrace to our great Country&lt;br /&gt;image but this is a one off incident and we should come up with a&lt;br /&gt;better regulations to avoid these kind of future incidents &amp; teach&lt;br /&gt;a lesson or two to all people who indulge in these kind of activities.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight:bold;"&gt;In one essence our media thinks,may &lt;br /&gt;be better If I say , it believes and projecting things in such a way&lt;br /&gt;that due to SATYAM incident our Indian IT industry will go bankrupt &lt;br /&gt;because U.S clients will not do business with our companies,Indian&lt;br /&gt;companies doesn't have good corporate governance,India-Inc lost it's&lt;br /&gt;credibility in world markets,why World Bank is banning one after other&lt;br /&gt;Indian companies &amp; The word ‘personality’ in its fullest sense&lt;br /&gt;refers to this whole person,to the integration of all aspects-&lt;br /&gt;intellectual, physical, emotional and social-which contribute&lt;br /&gt;to the human make-up".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The biggest myth about child abilities is that every day one&lt;br /&gt;come across many parents saying, my kid is average or dumb just&lt;br /&gt;because he/she can't score well in school which is in fact &lt;br /&gt;totally untrue and to say of a your child ‘he has a no brain &lt;br /&gt;or a great metal ability‘ and to dismiss him from any further&lt;br /&gt;consideration is both foolish and inhuman.I know a guy who&lt;br /&gt;couldn't make it in our college placements but now in IIM-A &lt;br /&gt;and also a guy who failed in Engineering while representing &lt;br /&gt;India in M.S Technical Challenge Cup.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mental Ability(IQ) refers to one rather narrow aspect of the &lt;br /&gt;child,his ability to do an intelligence test and other work &lt;br /&gt;which requires similar ability. January 7, 2009&lt;br /&gt;Dear Board Members,&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is with deep regret, and tremendous burden that I am carrying on my conscience, that I would like to bring the following facts to your notice:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. The Balance Sheet carries as of September 30, 2008&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;a. Inflated (non-existent) cash and bank balances of 50.40 billion rupees ($1.04 billion) (as against 53.61 billion reflected in the books).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;b. An accrued interest of 3.76 billion rupees which is non-existent.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;c. An understated liability of 12.30 billion rupees on account of funds arranged by&lt;br /&gt;me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;d. An overstated debtors position of 4.90 billion rupees (as against 26.51 billion reflected in the books)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. For the September quarter (Q2) we reported a revenue of 27.00 billion rupees and an operating margin of 6.49 billion rupees (24 pct of revenues) as against the actual revenues of 21.12 billion rupees and an actual operating margin of 610 million rupees (3 percent of revenues). This has resulted in artificial cash and bank balances going up by 5.88 billion rupees in Q2 alone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The gap in the Balance Sheet has arisen purely on account of inflated profits over a period of last several years (limited only to Satyam standalone, books of subsidiaries reflecting true performance).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;What started as a marginal gap between actual operating profit and the one reflected in the books of accounts continued to grow over the years. It has attained unmanageable proportions as the size of company operations grew significantly (annualized revenue run rate of 112.76 billion rupees in the September quarter, 2008, and official reserves of 83.92 billion rupees). The differential in the real profits and the one reflected in the books was further accentuated by the fact that the company had to carry additional resources and assets to justify higher level of operations -- thereby significantly increasing the costs&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Every attempt made to eliminate the gap failed. As the promoters held a small percentage of equity, the concern was that poor performance would result in a take-over, thereby exposing the gap. &lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;It was like riding a tiger, not knowing how to get off without being eaten.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The aborted Maytas acquisition deal was the last attempt to fill the fictitious assets with real ones. Maytas' investors were convinced that this is a good divestment opportunity and a strategic fit. Once Satyam's problem was solved, it was hoped that Maytas' payments can be delayed. But that was not to be. What followed in the last several days is common knowledge.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I would like the Board to know:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. That neither myself, nor the Managing Director (including our spouses) sold any shares in the last eight years -- excepting for a small proportion declared and sold for philanthropic purposes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. That in the last two years a net amount of 12.30 billion rupees was arranged to Satyam (not reflected in the books of Satyam) to keep the operations going by resorting to pledging all the promoter shares and raising funds from known sources by giving all kinds of assurances (Statement enclosed, only to the members of the board). Significant dividend payments, acquisitions, capital expenditure to provide for growth did not help matters. Every attempt was made to keep the wheel moving and to ensure prompt payment of salaries to the associates. The last straw was the selling of most of the pledged share by the lenders on account of margin triggers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. That neither me, nor the Managing Director took even one rupee/dollar from the company and have not benefitted in financial terms on account of the inflated results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. None of the board members, past or present, had any knowledge of the situation in which the company is placed. Even business leaders and senior executives in the company, such as, Ram Mynampati, Subu D, T.R. Anand, Keshab Panda, Virender Agarwal, A.S. Murthy, Hari T, S.V. Krishnan, Vijay Prasad, Manish Mehta, Murali V, Sriram Papani, Kiran Kavale, Joe Lagiola, Ravindra Penumetsa; Jayaraman and Prabhakar Gupta are unaware of the real situation as against the books of accounts. None of my or Managing Director's immediate or extended family members has any idea about these issues.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Having put these facts before you, I leave it to the wisdom of the board to take the matters forward. However, I am also taking the liberty to recommend the following steps:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. A Task Force has been formed in the last few days to address the situation arising out of the failed Maytas acquisition attempt. This consists of some of the most accomplished leaders of Satyam:, Subu D, T.R. Anand, Keshab Panda and Virender Agarwal, representing business functions, and A.S. Murthy, Hari T and Murali V representing support functions. I suggest that Ram Mynampati be made the Chairman of this Task Force to immediately address some of the operational matters on hand. Ram can also act as an interim CEO reporting to the board.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Merrill Lynch can be entrusted with the task of quickly exploring some Merger opportunities.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. You may have a restatement of accounts' prepared by the auditors in light of the facts that I have placed before you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have promoted and have been associated with Satyam for well over twenty years now. I have seen it grow from few people to 53,000 people, with 185 Fortune 500 companies as customers and operations in 66 countries. Satyam has established an excellent leadership and competency base at all levels. I sincerely apologize to all Satyamites and stakeholders, who have made Satyam a special organization, for the current situation. I am confident they will stand by the company in this hour of crisis.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In light of the above, I fervently appeal to the board to hold together to take some important steps. Mr. T.R. Prasad is well placed to mobilize support from the government at this crucial time. With the hope that members of the Task Force and the financial advisor, Merrill Lynch (now Bank of America) will stand by the company at this crucial hour, I am marking copies of this statement to them as well.&lt;br /&gt;Under the circumstances, I am tendering my resignation as the chairman of Satyam and shall continue in this position only till such time the current board is expanded. My continuance is just to ensure enhancement of the board over the next several days or as early as possible.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;I  am now prepared to subject myself to the laws of the land and face consequences thereof.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;(B. A series of extremely unfortunate events led to this, which I am sure you have seen covered in the media over the past few hours. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A SWAT team consisting of senior leaders has been formed. Many of them are Satyam veterans with a minimum of ten years experience in our company and more than twenty years in the industry. I have been requested to play the role of an Interim CEO and this team will support me, as we steer Satyam through this challenging phase.  These are the leaders on the ground and have  always had the final call on most customer and associate related matters in the company, so far.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This team has committed to work together, to make it happen.
