How to Repair Folder Option Menu in Windows

The Common problem faced by a virus affected computer is the problem of vanishing "Folder Option " menu in windows explorer. [Tools> Folder option]
Even After removing the virus , the option can't be used.It just vanished.

This tutorial will explain how to repair ‘Folder Options’(Make sure virus already removed & cleaned)

Method 1

Go to Start—>Run—> type gpedit.msc and hit enter

Select :

User Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Windows Components>>Windows Explorer

Select :

Removes the Folder Options menu item from the Tools menu.

Right click on it & select >>Properties>> Disable>>Apply

Method 2

Go to start—>Run type regedit and hit enter

Find any of the following keys:

User Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer

System Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\ Explorer

Value Name: NoFolderOptions

Double Click on NoFolderOptions and change the Value Data from 1 to 0.

(Value Data: 0 = show options, 1 = hide options)

There are many small tricks in Xp.Lets talk about some funny things:

"0" Blank File, and Clock AVI Fil

For Windows XP, If you look in your "My Computer\C:\WINDOWS\" In this folder, after all other folders, you find a text file named "0". If you open it, nothing will be in there, hence the filename "0".

Another thing would be a file called "Clock". It's an AVI file. It can open it in Windows Media Player. It's a very simple and plain animation.

These 2 files, were probably left in by the Microsoft Programmers as Easter-Eggs for anyone that could find them.

Con Folder
1. In any windows or dos try to make a folder named 'con'.
2. You will be presented by an error that it already exists, or other error preventing you creating this directory.

"Quotes" in windows XP
There is a secret file in Windows XP called "quotes". In order to get there you must be somewhat familiar with how to use Windows, simply navigate to: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc. This is where the quotes file is. The trial resetter for kaspersky resets licence of kaspersky so that one can activate the trail version again.It is for kaspersky version 7...(click here for full article)

But Now Kaspersky lab moved to the new version of kaspersky 2009 / v 8. This version is doesn't have any reliable crack/patch till now.

But a new safe way has been invented by Dr. House.

The features of this methods are:

It is totally safe.As you are resetting manually there is no chance of malware,spyware that often comes with a patch.

It Works on every version of Kaspersky. (not tested in kaspersky v 10 beta)
With this method, you can use trial period several times.

So Lets Do it.

Step 1: (Must Be Done)
Disable Kaspersky Self-Defense.
Open kaspersky>services>settings> uncheck "Enable Self defense"

Step 2:(Must Be done)
Download and Run KasperskyRestartTrial.reg

Step 3:
right click on kaspersky tray icon,click exit

Step 4:

Go to Kaspersky data folder. To go direct, copy the address below. On Windows, click on Start button and run the address below.

If you saw an error, don't worry

First enable "show hidden folder" from Folder Option menu.

Go C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Kaspersky Lab

Step 5:
Go to AVP8 or AVP7 folder and rename the Data folder to any other name. For example 2Data

Step 6:
Open the Kaspersky.
Step 7:
If Kaspersky rebuild the Data folder, then delete the new Data folder it recreated.
* Be careful not to delete the original folder from step number 5, because we need it!
Step 8:
Rename back the original Data folder to its original name.
Step 9:
Select "Enable test version (30 days)"
Step 10:
Enable Kaspersky Self-Defense!

Extra Steps for Kaspersky 8: (optional)

The Kaspersky will warn that you are using the evaluation period. To Kaspersky 8 be Green you have to hide the warning.

Open Kaspersky8> click on "Repair Now"> in "A trial version of the application is installed, click on "Hide Message"

Go to Kaspersky Settings > Notifications > Settings > disable item "License validy period expires soon" > OK > OK

Movie files are generally larger than the maximum size of the file in file sharing networks.So the user splits up the file in some part and then upload.It is necessary to join them after download.

If the file has extension like this

filk_name_tag].avi.001,[cinema_name_tag].avi.002...

It is highly possible that the uploader used the program HJSplit to split the file to create 001 files. This freeware program is also able to join 001 files.

First Put all the downloaded file to a folder.

Consider we want to join these files

Then download HJsplit.

Just extract the 'hjsplit.zip' and double click on HJSplit.exe to start HJSplit.
The main window of HJSplit appears.
Since we want to join the files, click on Join

Click on Input file in the new window (see below)

In the new window select the first file of the files that we would like to join,
so Tera Mera Rishta.mp3.001 in this case,

and click on Open after that.

Many Cable Internet provider assign Ip address based on MAC address.For whatever reason, if you need to swap 2 PC's regularly to connect to the cable modem, it would be a lot easier to change the MAC addresses rather than to change Network Interface Card (NIC).But how....

Yess!! address can be locally overriden with burned-in address.

There are two easy process,either to do it manually or using any tool.

Manual Proces:

Goto Start->Settings->Control Panel and double click on Network andDial-up Connections.

Right click on the NIC you want to change the MAC address and click on properties.

Under General Tab click on the button configure.

Now click on Advanced Tab and find Network Address or Locally Administered Address. click on it.

Now type the desired MAC address on the right hand value box.

Restart your computer or right click on network adapter then disable and re enable.

Change using Software tools.

The most popular MAC spoofing tool is SMAC.But the full version is not free.

How to get a vista like prelogon screen

The screen looks like this

To get a such effect download the bmp file.

save it to some location. (say in D drive)

Go to start>Run.

Type regedit and press enter

On the left pan Browse to HKEY_USERS>.DEFAULT>CONTROL PANEL>DESKTOP

Now find out Wallpaper on the right hand pan and double click it.

Change the Value data to the path where you saved the downloaded bmp file (in this case D:\startup.bmp)

Now restart your computer to get this effect.
