I saw this quote the other day on A mighty girl and loved it. So, I tried out some hand lettering. I’m not the greatest at it, that’s for sure, but it was a fun process.

I haven’t been creating much art lately, just haven’t found the time, which I need to do. I HAVE been spending a lot of time sitting next to my daughter watching her color and draw and paint though, which is so amazing/inspiring/exciting.

The more involved she gets the more I’m able to draw a little too, without her wanting on my lap or to help her with something every 5 seconds. :)

I used tape so I could use the same sheet every week. A lot of things stay the same like nap time and when my mom watches Pepper. Now I can quickly switch out what I want to work on and when!

A whole year has passed since our little Pepper joined us, holy toledo! It’s pretty crazy to see all her monthly P photos together – way to grow up Peps! You are AMAZING.

So, I did it! Well, my hairdresser Erika at Grooming Humans did it. She even made me a special mix – red, yellow and clear which gives it the coral-y tint. A darker rust color is underneath in the back for a little depth. If you’re close to Tempe, AZ and need a haircut/color you should definitely give her a call. So, yeah. I love it and that’s all I have to say!

Painted Onesie Tutorial

Supplies:

* Blank Onesie
* Fabric Paint Cannon
* Tulip Soft Fabric Paint
* Tulip Slick Fabric Paint, in black for outlining
* Sponge brush
* Cardboard
* Stencils and Stamps

First I laid the onesie out on my piece of cardboard (beer box, haha) and traced around it. I cut that out and placed the onesie on it, careful not to stretch it out to much. I put a little squirt of soft paint into the cannon, added some water and shook it up really well. The more water you add the more subtle your background will be. I love how it gives it a watercolor affect. I quickly framed where I wanted the background to be with cardboard to protect the rest of the fabric. Then I used the cannon and lightly misted the area.

I picked up a pack of animal stencils at Michaels too, so cute. I just placed the stencil where I wanted it and used the sponge brush to dab a light amount of paint inside. Then I used the black paint and outlined the animal – I chose this black because of the nice point it has for application built in. The letters were done with large foam stamps, I used the same soft paint and sponge brush to apply paint to them.

And that’s it, Ta-da! SO easy. I waited 24 hours and washed them inside out to set the paint and make sure it didn’t bleed. The two above were test runs. I have a new little buddy who had a birthday and wanted to make him something special, I think it turned out pretty cute. Yay for babies!
