With all of Whackala’s comings and goings in the last few weeks we’re posting on this after the event, but we’re very proud to say that the film has had it’s North American premiere in the “stubbornly independent” Tallgrass Film Festival in Wichita, Kansas, which is now in its 8th year. The film showed this past Saturday 23rd October at the Garvey Theater in a double bill with the documentary “Quest for Honor” about a woman’s quest to eradicate honor killings in Kurdistan. You can see the listing in the festival’s site. Tallgrass also have a lively Facebook group, don’t miss it for news and great discussions about the films and events.

Talking about Facebook, the film’s main subject the TZOME IXUK women rights group, founded by members of the Cruz Jiménez family HAS JOINED FACEBOOK! If you have seen the film and would like to take action by helping their group, or simply get in touch with them and find out more about their work, you can now do it directly here.

After the Revolution has also been chosen to screen at the Tallgrass Third Thursdays film series in November, possibly as part of the International Education Week in connection with the Wichita State University. More info on this to come soon!

The film has been selected for screening at this colourful festival’s 15th birthday in the famous London neighbourhood. Thanks to the Irish Latin America Film Festival’s organiser Tadgh O’Cruadhlaoich, who sent the film onto Portobello after the Dublin sscreenings last April! The festival runs from 2-19 September 2010 and the birthday celebrations include 600 premiere films, masterclasses, exhibitions and many more interesting happenings. To top it all up admission to all events is completely free!

After the Revolution is screening on the 14 of September at 8pm, part of a special documentary evening at Westbourne Studios. Visit their site to download the full programme and find out more information about the venues and the multiple events.

Paul McGrath and Leticia Agudo, the filmmakers, attended the screenings in Dublin on Wednesday 21st of April, and at the Stormont Parliament building in Belfast on Friday 23rd. The film was greatly received  by audiences and it sparked some lively discussions afterwards. In Dublin, the film was shown as part of the 11th Latin America Film Festival, organised every year by Tadhg O’Cruadhlaoich, and in Stormont it was organised by Latinoamerica Unida, the association for the Latin American community in Belfast.

The documentary has been selected as the main film event for the upcoming Latin American Week in Ireland organized by the Latin Amercian Solidarity Centre in Dublin.

It will be screened on the opening day of the 11th Irish Latin American Film Festival in Dublin, taking place from Wednesday 21st to Friday 23rd of April at the Irish Aid Centre, at 27-31 Upper O’Connell Street -just across from the Gresham Hotel.

After the Revolution will be showing at 6pm on Wednesday 21st April and the filmmakers will be there to introduce the film and for a Q&A session afterwards. It will also be showing in Galway, at the John Huston Film School in the University, on Saturday 17th of April (to be confirmed), and in Belfast in the Stormont Parliament building on Friday 23rd at 7pm.
