As we’re now a full week into November I was pondering a thought: do I get myself a part-time job to make some extra money? Stores tend to hire more holiday staff to help out during the holidays, and even with the economy being what it is, I’ve noticed stores have already put up their signs looking for new staff. Seeing how my additional income streams and snowflakes are at a trickle or are non-existant, I was thinking about this idea this week. Working a part time job would bring in regular money, and since it would be part time (read: in the evenings and weekends), it shouldn’t be too stressful for me (I would get a job close to my home, so the commute wouldn’t be so bad).

The negative things about getting the part time job are that:

I would definitely be more tired than I already am. My f/t job, while not stressful physically, is quite mentally taxing, as I do spend a lot of time thinking (who knew thinking that much would be so tiring!) So the additional time working p/t would definitely add to the fatigue.

Working at a store during the holiday season increases my chances of not being able to go out of town for Xmas like I usually do, since I suspect I’d be roped into working on Boxing Day.

So, what do you think dear readers? Should I bite the bullet and give it a shot? Or should I put more effort into my currrent snowflaking & money making efforts that I can do from home, and try to increase my income that way?

I’ve got this great coat that I like but never wear in my closet that I listed. Let’s hope it sells!

Oh, and I also sold a book on Amazon.ca as well, which was unexpected. It was so unexpected that I had actually packaged the book up to send to a friend of mine in Italy (he manages an English book exchange in his city, and had asked anyone that had extra books to send them over to him–this one was one I’d found in my laundry room). Not bad at all.

Have you sold anything recently to help out with your debt snowflakes?

Whoa, but my main credit card issuer, the one I use for bills n’ such, is offering me a balance transfer deal! 4% for 6 months, not too shabby. I’m actually just trying to decide if I want to take advantage or not, although in the meantime I cancelled my one pre-authorized bill payment, in case I decide to take it. The only wrinkle is simply that this card doesn’t have a high limit, so I can’t actually move alot of my debt over, so the secondary question would be this: do I ask them to increase the limit so I can take advantage of the offer? Doing so would run me the risk of being denied because of my current debt load (remember: I can make all the payments on my cards, it’s just that my ratio of available credit to used credit is too high.)

Thoughts? Do I ask for a limit increase so I can take better advantage of the transfer deal? Or do I just use the current limit?

A few weeks ago I realized that my half of the floor in my apartment building is getting pretty empty. Actually, my entire floor is getting pretty empty. Four of the apartments are now empty right now, which is almost half! Hopefully no one left because they couldn’t afford the rent any more, because I’d feel a bit bad about that. (Of course I’m not upset that the noisy people left, but still…)

I’ve been doing a bit of nesting chez moi, as the weather gets colder outside (and the building gets emptier). I’ve been spending more time tidying up and straightening up. Hopefully this means that I actually get off my duff and sell some of the extra stuff I don’t need around here. (I know, I know, famous last words.)

But the weekend is here, so hope springs eternal!
