The first people to try Brazilian Peel were in our clinical studies. They loved using Brazilian Peel. They noticed the benefits of using it by being with each other in the study. They started calling the study sessions “Peel Parties”. At the end of the study, some of they were upset: they wanted to know when and where to get Brazilian Peel after the study was over, so they could keep their skin looking younger, brighter and smoother. Since we had just started the development of Brazilian Peel, it was not available yet. They wanted to know how long their skin was going to stay looking so young and bright. Now Brazilian Peel is launched, everyone can keep using Brazilian Peel for younger, brighter, healthier looking skin.

When we did our first clinical studies for Brazilian Peel, the women in the study came into the test site to use the product. Four or five women sat around tables and did the 10-minute treatment. We called them “Peel Parties”. They had a blast! During the time of the study, they became friends and started sitting in the same groups, catching up on each other’s lives since the last session. What motivates you to try something new? For me, it’s a challenge to invent something that people need. The reward is the experience of making it happen, the excitement of the buzz created by a new product, and the pleasure of receiving positive feedback.

All my adult life, I’ve wanted to invent. I’ve got files dated from the 1980’s with new product ideas: reams of research and sketches on everything from cellular radio (which turned into cell phones), wireless weather and fishing services (now available on your cell phone or PDA), exotic beer recipes, sun tan lotion, medical devices, house designs, sailboat bottom paint formulas. Until four years ago, I worked for large multinational companies as a chemical engineer. I had to work on my ‘pet projects’ early in the morning, late at night and on weekends. Then, a senior colleague at a major personal care products company challenged me by asking, “If that is what you want to do, what are you doing here?”

Good question. So, two weeks later, I resigned from a senior project management position, and started working on what would become Brazilian Peel. I have never had so much fun in my life! I’m not sure I can even call this a job. Creating something new has been so rewarding – especially because the end result, the product, performs way beyond my original expectations.

I’ve never had a traditional sales job, but telling people about Brazilian Peel is easy! In the coming days, weeks and months, I’m going to be posting on the Advanced Home Actives blog about the launch of the product, the people I meet and the experience of starting up a new business. I’ll be writing about glycolic acid peels and the difference between the performance of leave-on consumer products and a professional strength treatment. I love to tell stories, so you’ll hear about the people I meet and the adventures we have. I’ll invite guest bloggers to contribute on our blog. I’ll probably blab about other things as well, like vintage cars (we’ve got an old VW bus, an El Camino and a Karman Ghia in the driveway), kayak fishing and living in the fifth decade of my existence.
