Thank you all for the continued support, the downloads have really picked up lately and I'm very appreciative. This week I brought in another special guest dj. I've known Tone aka DJ Megablack for many years now, ever since he came out from Virginia. We immediately bonded as friends and fellow dj's from day one. I'm really and truly happy to have him on the show. Tone is no stranger to the Podomatic family, you can catch more of him at www.funkhutradio.podomatic.com. I slid in a couple new joints before Tone graced the set, including new music from Denmark's own Quadron. I recently saw them here in Oakland and loved their live set. Also, from Amsterdam, I played music from The Numaads. Global Soul is really on point right now, and it's great to see the music being taken in different directions. This is off the very nice "United We Cure" project, an album put out by clothing company Privacy Wear. The cd was put out in support of efforts to fight breast cancer. Privacy Wear provides free mammograms to uninsured women across the country, finding a facility in their neighborhood that will give them a speedy appointment. Privacy Wear covers the full cost of the mammogram, including (if necessary) transportation to get to the appointment. Good music for a great cause. Thanks for all the love and support of Maluary aka February (my birth month). It was defintely a fun filled month, thanks again. This week we have our normal batch of great music. I dug into the crates and found a favorite of mine in Big Mike "Havin' Thangs" featuring the one & only Pimp C (RIP) on the hook. I usually don't like playing expletives on the show, but I couldn't find the clean version, so this had to suffice. This is a very well put together song, and dripping with soul. If you get a chance check out Big Mike's solo debut "Somethin' Serious". More great new music from Erykah Badu, Rahel, and 1-O.A.K. also in this set. I mentioned I'm gonna do aa all Prince show coming up, but I wanna make it really good so gives a few weeks. Also look out for another special guest dj in a few weeks on Luv Luv Radio. So your saying to yourself what's Maluary? Since I was birthed during this fabulous month, I felt that it was only fitting to celebrate the whole month. So keep the complimentary beverages flowing, lol. This week I featured a bunch of new music. I'm very excited about the new Consequence, as well as new music from Dynas, featuring the great J Dilla on production. Also making it's debut this week is a new artist by the name of Rahel. Featuring production from none other than Mark de Clive Lowe, "Hope" is a definite head nodder with jazzy undertones. Rahel has worked with the likes of Dudley Perkins, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Eric Lau. Be looking for more from this talented pair in the near future.
