Only two weeks until RMAC, and we still have a few open spots in both Dynamic Media Camp, and eLearning Camp. Seats are going fast so head over to the registration page and sign up now. We’ll wait to introduce our next speaker until you get back. Wasn’t that much less painful then a tetanus shot? Now that you’ve signed up, we’d like to introduce you to another of our extraordinary speakers. Jorma Jennings not only teaches Adobe Connect Pro, Adobe Presenter, and Captivate, in his spare time he teaches people to fly airplanes.

RMAC: Thanks for taking some time to chat with us, Jorma. What is the name of your RMAC session, and what are you going to cover?

Jorma: I will be presenting Creating Courses and Curricula in Adobe Connect Pro. We’ll discuss how courses and curricula are created in Connect’s Training Module and how to set up effective learning paths in your curricula. In the end we’ll have a complete learning path that is non-linear and will meet our student’s needs, no matter what their learning level.

RMAC: That sounds like it’s going to be a great session. Who would you like to see at your session, and what can they expect to take away from it?

Jorma: Anyone who has/will/wants to deliver training in an eLearning capacity. Connect has the ability to deliver both synchronous and asynchronous training and can track it all. My goal is to have the individuals who have this tool leave knowing a little more about it, and for those looking for something to meet this need to leave knowing why Connect is a real contender in the eLearning world.

RMAC: Well, we’re certainly excited to check it out. Which other sessions are you excited for?

Jorma: I’m excited to go to Andrew Chemey’s talk, as he knows the ins and outs of LMS integration and has provided answers that I thought weren’t possible. Also, I’m really excited for Kevin Siegel’s (and Barb Binder’s) talks as I have taught from Kevin’s books for years, and they are some of the best out there. It will be great to see the master at work.

RMAC: So many great presentations, so little time. What tech item are you most enamored with at the moment?

Jorma: I guess my laptop would have to be the answer to that… it runs my life. Boring I know, but I’m a simple person. Maybe my Blackberry, but it doesn’t do Flash so, meh.

RMAC: (Seriously, RIM, let’s get with the Flash.) So what kind of pizza could we find you eating while NOT watching Flash videos on your Blackberry?

Jorma: Chicago, supreme, I like all toppings.

RMAC: We shouldn’t have asked that question right before lunch. Now we’re really hungry. One last question before we starve. How much wood would a wood-chuck chuck?

Jorma: Rumor has it that it is about 1.275 cords of wood a day.

RMAC: That is a very specific answer which can’t be verified via Flash video on your Blackberry. Sorry, we’ll stop ranting now. Thanks for taking some time with us, Jorma. We’ll see you at RMAC.

Jorma has been working with and teaching Adobe Connect Pro, Adobe Presenter, and Captivate for more than two years and has worked with organizations of all sizes and needs to find how these tools can increase awareness, knowledge and reduce costs. In his spare time he teaches people to fly airplanes. And while he won’t be teaching you how to fly at RMAC, he will be teaching you how to better teach using Adobe Connect Pro. So go sign up now, and come down to RMAC on June 22nd. Then you can check out all of the great sessions, possibly get a t-shirt, and maybe win $1700 in software!

Closer and closer we come to RMAC, and we still have a few speakers to introduce. So we figured we would break from tradition and introduce you to another speaker today. Crazy, we know. But team RMAC flies by the seat of our collective pants. So without further ado, meet Brian Holmes. Brian is a Flex Engineer living in Fort Collins, Colorado. He specializes in Cloud Computing stacks that target the flash platform. He works for Roundarch Inc.

RMAC: Brian thanks for taking some time out of your day to talk with us about your session.

Brian: No problem.

RMAC: What is the name of your session, and what are you going to cover?

Brian: Adobe Flash Collaborative SDK, and it will cover how to add real time social capabilities into Rich Internet Applications within minutes using the Adobe Flash Collaboration SDK.

RMAC: Very cool. Who would benefit from your session, and why should they come to it?

Brian: Beginners who want a look at how to integrate with 3rd party services and experts who haven’t had time to look closely at the SDK yet should come to enjoy an overall light-hearted session that’s near the end of the day that will enable them sometime in the future to say, “Ah. We should use Adobe collaboration services for that problem”.

RMAC: You like to get straight to the point don’t you? All kidding aside, it sounds like a cool session. Are you looking forward to checking out any of the other great RMAC sessions?

Brian: The Flex Applications Framework Panel. I love hearing what other people are using/doing for a framework.

RMAC: We’re pretty excited about that one as well. You’re a man of few words, Brian.

Brian: Yes.

RMAC: Okay, last questions. What tech item are you lovin’ right now, and which one are you hoping to get in the future?

Brian: A pencil and a pad of paper, but I really want a pencil with an eraser.

RMAC: Not at all what we were expecting, but thanks for taking some time with us.

Brian: You’re welcome.

You can check out Brian along with all of the other amazing speakers at RMAC by registering right now. $50 is all that it takes. $50 dollars to check out sessions from: Kevin Towes (Adobe), Brian Holmes (Roundarch), Andrew Chemey (Adobe), David Hassoun (RealEyes Media), and many, many more! And if you have a couple extra bucks laying around- maybe you could buy Brian a pencil with an eraser. We get the feeling that he really wants one! We’ll see you at RMAC.

Less than 3 weeks until RMAC, and it’s filling up quickly… So we figured we’d introduce you to a couple more speakers. And here they are now. Kevin Siegel is the founder and president of IconLogic, Inc. (That’s Kevin to the right there.) He has written more than 100 step-by-step computer training books, and he is presenting two sessions at RMAC. One of the sessions is with Barbara Binder who is the Principal of Rocky Mountain Training. That’s a lot of knowledge RMAC is droppin’ on ya.

RMAC: Hi Kevin. What sessions will you be presenting at RMAC?

Kevin: I will be presenting Six New Things in Adobe Captivate 4, and Introduction to the Adobe Technical Communication Suite 2 w/Barb Binder.

RMAC: Sounds like you have a busy day on your hands. Can you give us a little detail on your Captivate session?

Kevin: During this action-packed session you will learn the six hottest new features in Adobe Captivate 4 including: the redesigned and enhanced recording interface (including the new Panning feature); the improved PowerPoint 2007 integration workflow; creating and using variables; adding widgets; and creating and using Advanced Actions.

RMAC: Action-packed, eh? Sounds great, but will there be ninjas?

Kevin: No ninjas, but I hope to really get people psyched about Captivate.

RMAC: We’re psyched already. How about your hands-on session with Barb Binder?

Kevin: Well, you can look at it this way: You’ve purchased Adobe’s Technical Communications Suite version 2. Well done! You’ve made a great choice. Each of the programs in the suite (Framemaker, Captivate and RoboHelp, Photoshop and Acrobat) is a top-notch application. Of course, if you’re like many people who have purchased the suite, trying to figure out what the programs do, and how they work together can be daunting.

Barb and I will help you solve this mystery! During this session you’ll get an introduction to the programs that make up the suite. After that, you will learn to integrate the suite’s applications to create interactive PDFs, Help Systems and printed documents from one single source.

RMAC: So will there be ninjas and/or pirates in this session?

Kevin: Ummm, no. There are neither ninjas nor pirates in either of the sessions. There should be eLearning developers and technical communicators because you just can’t beat the TechCom Suite for power and time-saving features! For the first time there is true single-sourcing!

RMAC: Kevin, you sure are excited about the Tech Com suite (considering there aren’t ninjas)…

Kevin: What is your obsession with ninjas?

RMAC: Ahhh, never mind. We’ll ask the questions here. Let’s make this the last one. Are there any really cool tech gadgets that you just love?

Kevin: Shhhh… don’t tell anyone (especially the wife) but it will soon be a Segway. Why? Why not?

RMAC: Well, hopefully she doesn’t read this blog, or you are in trouble*. Thanks for your time, Kevin. We’ll see you at RMAC.

*RMAC takes no responsibility for any marital problems caused by interview questions or the answers provided herein.

If you want to learn more about the Tech Com Suite, and cool new things in Captivate 4 (and perhaps ninjas and pirates) then you should go sign up for RMAC right now. Now? Yes now! Then you too can hang out with:

Kevin Siegel who spent five years in the U.S. Coast Guard as an award-winning photojournalist and has more than 23 years experience as a print publisher and technical writer. He is a certified technical trainer, has been a classroom instructor for more than 16 years and is a frequent speaker at trade shows and conventions. Kevin holds multiple certifications from companies such as Adobe and the CompTIA.

And:

Barbara Binder is the Principal of Rocky Mountain Training. She started in the publishing field in 1986 with Pagemaker’s first release for Windows. She has been delivering corporate training as a free-lance instructor since 1987, mostly in the Washington, D.C area. She moved to the foothills west of Denver to escape the congestion and the craziness of life “inside the Beltway” in 2005. (Access to the fabulous skiing and living the outdoor life may have had a little something to do with the move, too.)

Adobe Systems recognized Barbara Binder of Rocky Mountain Training as one of the Top Five Most Highly‐Rated Adobe Certified Instructors, Worldwide.

They say that April showers bring May flowers. We say that May flowers bring an amazing June line-up of speakers at the first ever, one of a kind, Flash-tastic Rocky Mountain Adobe Camp! And one of those speakers is bringing more than a spectacular, in-depth presentation to Camp…

We are thrilled to have Kevin Towes speaking at RMAC! Kevin is product manager in the Dynamic Media Organization at Adobe Systems, responsible for defining, delivering, and supporting Adobe streaming video products. In addition to being at the forefront of Adobe streaming video, Kevin will be giving away a copy of Adobe CS 4 Production Premium! One Dynamic Media Camper will walk away with $1700 in software.

How can you be that camper? It’s easy. Just head over to the Registration Page, sign up for the Dynamic Media Camp, come on down to RMAC on June 22nd, and you will be eligible to win. We’ll wait here for you while you register… Go on. It’s okay; we’ll hum the Jeopardy theme music while we wait.

See how easy that was. Now that you are registered for Dynamic Media Camp you have a 1 in 75 chance of winning Adobe CS 4 Production Premium. Those odds are much better than winning Powerball, being dealt pocket aces, or finding $1700 on the sidewalk. Also, you now have a 100% chance of learning from, and interacting with the best and brightest in the “Flash-o-sphere”! Whether it’s Video for Flash with Paul Trani (Starz), Enterprise Encoding & Encrypting with Jun Heider & David Hassoun (RealEyes Media), or High Impact Motion Web Graphics with Ross Maupin & Justin Gitlin (Factory Design Labs) you are guaranteed to take part in remarkable sessions, and learn from amazing speakers.

See you at Camp!
