Location and Date: Shenandoah National Park • October 2016

The Details: Phil and Katie (and their dog) really wanted to have their photos taken during the peak fall foliage time of the autumn season in Shenandoah National Park. I was happy to accommodate…but did note that we’d have to do it on a weekday. Why? Weekends during October in the park are packed to the brim with people anxiously wanting to see the colorful trees and mountains. I’ve heard nightmares of people waiting at the entrance gate for 2 HOURS just to get in. Thankfully we were able to find an early weekday morning to meet up, and enjoy the colorful trees with little to no crowds.

Location and Date: Bull Run Golf Club, Haymarket, VA • November 2016

The Details: This was my first time photographing a wedding at Bull Run Golf Club, and I hope it will not be my last! The weather was pristine for Chris and Lindsay’s wedding (much like their engagement session), and their outdoor ceremony was quite lovely. We were able to do nearly all posed / portrait photographs outside due to how nice it was for an early November day. This wedding also featured one of the more memorable first looks I have been a part of (between the bride Lindsay and her father)…photos of which are included in the highlights below.

Location and Date: Ceremony: Strasburg Presbyterian Church, Strasburg, VA • Reception: Private Family Farm in Strasburg, VA

The Details: I both know Evan and Sarah from the work I do at Lord Fairfax Community College. However I also know Evan as he is the brother of another bride’s wedding I have done (Allie). Allie is friends with many other brides’ whose weddings I have photographed. You can see that there are a bunch of connections! Regardless, working for Evan and Sarah felt more like being around old family and friends. Having been to the Strasburg Presbyterian Church many times, along with being on Evan’s family property before for his sister’s wedding, it could not have been a more comfortable setting for me to be a part of.

Location and Date: Silver Spring, MD (Mrs. K’s Tollhouse Garden, Christ Congregational Church, Silver Spring Sheraton Hotel)

The Details: Kevin and Allison had their engagement session on cold day in January, so a nice September day for their wedding was welcomed! Their wedding day was a blend of Jewish and Christian faith as they had two services…a small intimate gathering for the signing of the Ketubah (a Jewish tradition), and then a larger ceremony for all guests. The reception was capped off with the Hora (the Jewish wedding chair dance), which is always a blast to photograph!

Location and Date: The George Washington Hotel in Winchester, VA | August 2016

The Details: Matt has been a long-time co-worker for mine. When he asked me to photograph his wedding, I said absolutely! Matt married his beautiful bride Christina at the historic George Washington Hotel, one of my favorite local venues in Winchester, VA. It was blazing hot that day…I was dripping in sweat after being outside for five minutes! However I’ll take the heat any day over a torrential downpour. While we took some photos outside, the GW Hotel offers some fantastic indoor scenery that we made use of…including the piano being that Christina has a doctorate in music arts!

The Details: This summer I found myself again at the Historic Rosemont Manor in Berryville, VA for Bret and Jeannie’s summertime Friday wedding. Rosemont is one of my favorite venues as a wedding photographer. Not only is the scenery perfect for photo sessions, but the staff ensure the entire wedding day and reception are on schedule, fun and stress-free for the bride and groom (and the photographer too!).

Location and Date: Nancy Shepherd House and Inn, Winchester, VA | June 2016

The Details: Frank and Renee have quite a story. They were married for 15 years and then separated. After another 15 years apart, they got back together and decided to get remarried. To quote Frank, they just “took a little break”. Choosing to have a simple elopement ceremony at Innkeeper and Officiant David McLaughlin’s Nancy Shepherd House, they asked me to take photographs to commemorate the occasion. I was more than happy to! Afterwards we took a stroll down to the walking mall in Old Town Winchester for a few quick photographs of the re-married couple!

The Details: Jack and Olivia are having quite a month together. They both GRADUATED from medical school, are getting MARRIED…and then MOVING to Mississippi! That’s basically three milestone life events all jam packed into one exciting and fun month! I was honored to be part of their wedding which was only a few days before they hit the road to move several states away. A great time was had by all celebrating this wedding between two awesome doctors. Congratulations to Dr. Jack and Dr. Olivia!
