When I read about the"Vandals Target Family of Slain Soldier" was down right disgusting. I am going to be 81 years old and the way things are tearing our country down, I am glad I do not have much more time
to live to see our country destroyed. I fought eleven months in combat in World War II and now see our country being destroyed. We were five siblings in WW II to keep our country free.

Hello there, I was just browsing your page and saw that you had a photo mislabeled. Your second photo on page one is labeled as being a White Heron, a relative of the Great Blue Heron. While it is true that a White Heron is a morph of the Great Blue (Smithsonia Handobooks "Birds of Florida"), your photo actually depicts a Great Egret, a rather common bird here in South Florida. The way I was taught to tell the difference (from a kind gentleman at the Wild Bird Santuary in the Florida Keys) is that White Herons look VERY much like Great Blues (especially), just white, and have fleshy colored legs (also mentioned in the Smithsonian book). Great Egrets, on the other hand, have black legs and much more yellow beaks. The following website has images of both; the differences are easier to see when next to each other. (http://themarksman.us/birdwatching/birdwatching_g.htm)
Seems to be a common mistake though. I wouldn't have known unless I'd heard it from the Sanctuary, since the differences are so small.
Sorry to intrude...

Hi;
I am going on a trip to the Black Canyon this June or July and I want to hit the Salmon Fly Hatch as close as I can. Did you fish while you were there. Do you know where I can get some info on it? Also, What advice would you give if to someone who hasn't hike there before? What type of closes shoes...ect?
Thanks,

Thank you both for the comments.

Caryn, I can understand why you love Canyonlands. My wife and I had been to Arches in 2001, but we didn't have time on that trip to visit Canyonlands, and as it was while we were planning this trip, we didn't plan on visiting either Arches or Canyonlands, but we took a slight detour. And I am certainly glad that we did. Canyonlands is a beautiful place (as is Arches). Our visit was too short — just a couple of hours; we are definitely going to go back and spend more time there some day.

Please remember to take time today and thank any veterans you know for their service. It is by such service and sacrifice that we and the freedoms we hold dear are protected. To those who have served, both past and present, I want to say thank you for your time and commitment in protecting our nation and on behalf of the cause of freedom and liberty.

Interesting design. I don't see too many sites that display so much information on their front page, but it seems logical enough because you have so much content. The photos are rockin' and the Excursions are neat quick-read type of thing. I like it. I am curious, however, why the search is so front-and-center in the design? Do you notice a lot of users searching on your site?

The navigation at the top <em>and</em> bottom is excellent for a site with this length. Good call - lots of sites are skipping that nowadays.

[...] Plus, while I was redoing things, I also rebooted my linkblog, Excursions, which was one of the more significant changes. I was using a second install of WordPress to run it, but I discovered a nifty plugin called wp-recent-links. A bit of hacking later, and I had a nice solution to eliminate one extra interface for posting. Tags: reboot , redesign , web design Filed under Uncategorized [...]
