Wow, it seems as if I haven’t been on Tumblr since the DEMILOVATO69 chat room raids. Was that just a one night wonder? Still going on? Anyways, I’ve moved to Phoenix to start school. Been so busy; meeting people, tons of activities, clubs, homework, etc. I’m really hoping that I can keep this up, but I really want to place emphasis on school first. I’m planning on doing at least one album review per week if this craziness pursues. Anyways, it’s like 2 AM. I just finished all of my 5 meetings today and my homework for tomorrow. Good night, and I’ll definitely try to get on here more often.

A few weeks ago a customer (now friend) César emailed me inquiring if I had any green FTW pillows in stock that I could quickly ship out. I told him I did not but I could try to speed up his order as long as it wasn’t international. Well it turned out César lived in Portugal and NEEDED that FTW pillow for his brother’s upcoming birthday. I decided I would try to help even though I would have to make the pillow right away and ship it the next day. And there was no guarantee it would get through customs in time…But it was worth a shot.

What was to come was a slew of hilarious roadblocks that César and I hit while trying to get his brother that pillow. First César had trouble with making an account on Throwboy.com. So I said, no problem I’ll just send you an invoice. Then he wasn’t able to pay with PayPal. So I told him that if he sent me an iTunes Gift Certificate for the price of the pillow we would be square. After that I shipped his pillow to Portugal. About a day later I tried to used the gift certificate and (of course) wasn’t able to use it because it was purchased with foreign currency. *facepalm*

Finally we exchanged instant messenger names in hopes that maybe César could download some stuff from the iTunes store for me with the card HE purchased. lol it was a mess and a half but it all turned out fine in the end. And César was so awesome and never got mad that all these things went down during his purchase :)

TOTALLY ON POINT AND INSIGHTFUL MOVIE REVIEW

Saw Humpday tonight with some girlfriends. Personally, I was so disturbed by the plot of the film and character motivation that I had a hard time enjoying it. The acting and dialogue was pretty great. There were a couple scenes toward the begining where I was genuinely really enjoying myself and thought “Man, that’s so legit. That’s just like _____” and the blank would be a friend from college or me or my relationship or whatever. I was pretty impressed by how great a lot of those scenes were, and I’m a big old jaded bitch who hates pretty much everything at its core.

Here’s what got me: I found the selfishness of the lead character to be so cruel and disturbing that I spent most of the second half of the movie manicly texting my boyfriend and wondering what the fuck I’ve done wrong in my life to be so affected by this. It actually killed me to see this dude throw his wife out the window to make a porno with his buddy (not a spoiler, that’s in the trailer/the entire plot of the movie).

I normally avoid romantic comedies and any sort of romantic movie at all costs because I find myself relating too much and then I wind up having a week-long crying spree that’s filled with a lot of things like unreasonable junk food and exclaimations of “WHY AM I GOING TO DIE ALONE!?” Let’s put it this way: you did not want to be my college boyfriend after I saw Jump Tomorrow, a movie I was sure he introduced me to solely so I could see what he would never be able to give me.

Still, I thought this would be different. Two straight dudes making sex for the camera = LOLs, right? No. It wasn’t. The details of the film lead me to believe that it must have been written by a very single man who doesn’t understand that he can’t have everything in the world ever. It was written and directed by a woman, actually. I tried to take that in to account and hoped and hoped that at some point my affection for these guys would kick in. I thought maybe the wife would be portrayed in a less whiney and negative way.

I overly identified with the passive and supportive wife, I immediately recognized the selfishness in the husband, the cluelessness and lack of boundaries in his friend and the fact that they were going to take these awful traits all the way to Anal Town to prove some sort of a point.

Bottom line: Because I enjoyed the acting and the dialogue so much, I give it a 3/10. The plot will haunt me for years to come and it will be of no surprise to me if I wind up holding my husband at knifepoint the night of our wedding, threatening to slice and dice his face if he ever decides to fuck one of his friends on camera for “art”. I really do think this movie may have put me in a place where I need to talk to a professional and/or get on some sort of medication. I’m really quite upset.

The best way to make sure you meet everyone is make sure you have a plan. Have set times of each show you want to see and make sure you walk around the tent area looking at times of each signings! You may have a lot of down time, so dont be scared to go to your favorite bands tent and see if they are working merch! keep your head up, they may be going to the next set you are about to see :] Ive seen videos of kids sitting out an hour before 2pm, so really it depends if alot of people know about it, walk to the tent around 1 to see if a line is forming and than head back around 1:30-1:45

Hey Guru Of All Things Warped, do you know if Sierra Kusterbeck of VersaEmerge is joining A Day To Remember for the song “If It Means A Lot To You” for the stops on the tour?

it all depends on the venue, but you cant miss them. they are all group together , youll know where they are as soon as you get there. theyll be like a fricken tent party. sooo many!

so basically, you donate blood BEFORE your warped date. you have to be 17, some states allow you to be 16 with a parent. (look at previous post). On that day you go to the place and sign in, there was a nice lady greeting at my blood donation, you get a sticker and you put your name on it :] and than you wait untill you get called. youll get a finger prick for iron sample and than you fill out this survey about your health and drug life and than you give them your information. than i went to another room and thats where i got my blood drawn and than they give you a VOUCHER. now this voucher lets you go to meet and greets and get free water. theres another part to this voucher. on the day of your warped you are one of the first 150 people to go to the music saves lives tent at the nonprofit tent area and give them the voucher, you get backstage vip.

when are you going to warped tour?

August 1st in Chicago! and than i’m filling out surveys for truth to get free tickets to the W.I show.

Almost a year ago, Hit The Lights released their second record called “Skip School, Start Fights” on July 8, 2008. A few days ago the band released the “Coast To Coast EP,” a melody-driven six song gem great for summer listening. Last October I got a chance to sit down with vocalist Nick Thompson to talk all things tour and their new record. To celebrate a fantastic EP, here’s a throwback to when “Skip School, Start Fights” was released.

I’ve got to warn you, I’ve got a really hard starter question for you… [Laughs] What do you think makes your band different than others?

Nick Thompson: [Laughs] We’re all really good friends and we have a lot of fun. We do it for the right reasons and I think some bands don’t. We have a lot of personality which in my opinion is good.

Hit The Lights just released “Skip School, Start Fights.” How long did it take to record? How long was the writing process?

NT: We recorded with Rob Freeman. He’s worked with Hidden In Plain View. The songs were written around the same time so they have the same theme. We had more time the second time and we knew what kind of album we wanted.

How do you think the new record is different from the old one?

NT: There’s a theme to it that’s better. Yeah, underline that. Twice! [Laughs] For the second record we had a lot more time to experience. Travel effects writing.

What inspired the new record?

NT: Collin [Ross] had left and the second record is most important for a band. We were looking for singers, missing being on the road, and going crazy in town. So the record is about getting back on our feet and getting out there. A lot of songs should reflect that.

What influences did you draw from if any?

NT: Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory… Lot’s of Pantera and Dimebag. We also realized you have to take a hands on approach to what you want.

What kind of feedback are you getting from fans?

NT: A lot of people like it because it’s a progression. Some people say it’s not as heavy, but that’s not true - it’s heavier [than the first album]. Overall though, we’ve had really good feedback.

What’s your favorite song off the album?

NT: No favorite. I like lots of the songs for different reasons. But right now I really like “Cry Your Eyes Out.”

What artists do you listen to on the road?

NT: A lot of everything. Comeback Kid, Jimmy Eat World, New Found Glory, Usher - the old stuff, Justin Timberlake, Bane…Yeah, I’m just name dropping now. [Laughs]

What’s the craziest thing that happened at one of your shows?

NT: In Nashville on the tour with All Time Low a pregnant girl in the pit got kicked in the stomach. She and the baby were okay though. And at Bamboozle [2008] there was a mattress in the crowd. I rode it!

How important is it for you to hang out with fans after a show?

NT: Really important, because they’re the reason you’re there. We don’t expect it, but the kids for the most part are really accepting. We definitely hang out. Oh, and we’re not mean to people! [Laughs]

What’s the most important item you take with you when you leave for months at a time?

NT: Definitely my laptop and cell phone.

What’s the hardest part of being on the road?

NT: Definitely being away from family and friends. If something goes bad with family it’s an awful feeling and you can’t take it onstage with you. But the good outweighs the bad. We all enjoy being out on the road, which is why [Hit The Lights] works so well. There’s an energy everyone feeds on. You can get homesick but at the same time everyone is on the same page. But we all really like being on tour.

What would you be doing if you weren’t in Hit The Lights?

NT: Probably graphic design.

We are looking for friendly, out-going volunteers over the age of 18 to work side-by-side with the engineers of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.

Responsibilities will include:
Working in our 2 Tents to collect email addresses
Promote the equipment used on the Bus
Prize giveaways and raffles
Encouraging concert-goers to participate in our Rock Band 2 gaming tent
Having fun with our bull horn, water guns, and talking about the mission of the Bus!

Volunteers will be asked to work one 5 hour shift, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Compensation: Free admission and other goodies thanks to our sponsors

Friends are encouraged to sign up and volunteer together! If you would like to volunteer for more than one date, please let us know!
