Points for prayer:

• Translation – Pray that God would raise up workers for the remaining languages as a result of YWAM praying and hearing God’s voice. Pray for current translation efforts to complete successfully. According to endbiblepovertynow.com there are 1,800 languages with no portion of scripture translated (almost half of these in Africa). It is estimated that over 2,000 languages have translation efforts underway. Leaders in this field have a goal of having oral translations for every language by 2020 and written translations by 2033.
• Production – Pray that God would provide the resources for production into media that is best for each people group, whether that be print, audio, video, online, etc.
• Distribution – Pray for those God has called to be the people on the ground and that everyone would have a Bible in their home, in their native language.
• Education – Pray for people, as they read the Word of God in their native language, to become educated about God’s truth.
• Engagement – Pray for those that are receiving and reading the Bible for the first time to become engaged with the Word of God and to take action accordingly. Pray that lives and communities would be changed for the good as a result.

Most of you have probably read the letter I circulated a few months ago, inviting you all to engage with this vision to End Bible Poverty Now. But in case that letter didn’t make it to some of you, I’ll recap the vision here:

Since 1960, Loren has carried a burden to get the Bible to every person on earth who does not have access. Many have heard him tell the story of the “woman in the faded red dress” in Mexico who asked him for a Bible, because she had no access to the Word. God used that one woman to pierce his heart (he still chokes up today when He recalls her hunger and desire for the Bible) – and from the retelling of that one initial encounter, God has launched many Bible initiatives throughout YWAM to get the Word of God to whole communities and nations.

The vision of End Bible Poverty Now (EBPN), is to make the Bible accessible to every home (as well as to nomads and homeless) in their mother tongue by 2033. Of course, individuals have the God-given right to refuse the Bible, but it will be available to them. Professional linguists like Wycliffe and others are hard at work translating Scripture for 2,195 language groups that do not have God’s Word. But there are an additional 1,869 languages that have no portion of the Bible – and no one is working on those languages!

There is much that we ordinary people can do to speed the process, doing oral translations, which can then be given to the professionals to edit. The video moves really fast, but watch it a few times, and you will get the simplicity of the plan – and the speed is a major point of the video. This type of oral translation can be done QUICKLY and SIMPLY by ordinary people!)

In recent months, Loren has met with hundreds of influential leaders in evangelical, charismatic and Pentecostal denominations about EBPN. And you’ve probably heard that in November of 2014, Loren and I plus a few other YWAM leaders met with the leaders of the three main streams of Christendom – Pope Francis of the Catholic Church, Pope Tawadros II of the Coptic Orthodox Church (the oldest orthodox tradition) and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby of the Anglican Church, to engage them in this cause. Everyone he has met with has given overwhelming blessing and support for EBPN.

This vision to End Bible Poverty Now must include a broad foundation of prayer. As you meet together on this first YWAM Global Prayer day of 2015, please pray and ask God to give you His heart for getting His Word to His world. Then as individuals, families, teams and ministries, God may give some specific steps for how you can be involved.

The job is gigantic and it will take all parts of the body of Christ to accomplish. But YWAM has people on the ground all over the world, putting us in position to make an enormous contribution. And there has never been unity and partnership between mission organizations and the Church worldwide like there is today!

Here’s the whole point: God has said that His Word will not return to Him void (Isaiah 55:11). History has clearly shown that, wherever the Bible goes, the Spirit of God brings transformation!

Loren’s personal goal is to get at least an oral translation of Scripture available to the 1,869 totally Bible-less languages by 2020. He is actively recruiting more prayer supporters and oral translators. And YWAM is partnering with professional translation ministries like Wycliffe and many others to get Bible translations into digital, Internet, audio and written formats as quickly as possible.

Will you, our faithful co-workers pray and make this covenant with us? You have shared in the vision of the waves of young people, taking the Gospel to all the continents. Now the Lord is asking all of us to commit to this vision to End Bible Poverty worldwide.

Another thing Loren has added to his birthday wish list is this: he would like to see his book Is That Really You, God? translated into a total of at least 200 languages by June of 2016 (his next birthday is June 30th). Currently it has been translated into 130 languages. As you know, it is a simple book that helps people discover how to hear God’s voice. So if you know of a language it’s NOT translated into and can help get it translated, that too will be an answer to Loren’s prayers!

YWAM Samoa is hosting the LEADERSHIP TRAINING SCHOOL (LTS) next year in 2013.

Info: All existing and Potential Leaders are all welcome to attend. This school will help give you the Tools you need for your leadership and also for the ministry you are involved in or a ministry the Lord is giving you to undertake, and also help you to lead Jesus style.

Loren and Darlene Cunningham, David Hamilton, and Dawn Gauslin will also be running the DNA INFUSION for two weeks during the LTS in Samoa. DNA UNFUSION is part of the school, but it is also open for anyone who has already done an LTS but still want to be a part of the DNA INFUSION sessions.

The Norwegian people of 4,8 mil woke up to a national tragedy this morning. After the bomb explosion in Oslo centre yesterday, it became evident that more than 80 young people also had been shot to death at a political youth camp, by a 32 year old Norwegian – probably the same person who made and released the bomb.

The government buildings, including the office of the prime minister, look like a battlefield. How could one extreme nationalist do this alone? There are many questions.

As believers we ask ourselves what to say to non-believing victims and their families. The horror at the island, where the youths were killed, was a hell-experience. 500 young people were running for their lives as the gun-man was executing them. Some escaped jumping into the sea, but even there they were shot at.

No YWAM’ers were killed or wounded yesterday, but as Norwegians we all feel the loss and the pain. Personally I have two children living in Oslo center, they were both safe. Our son is working close to the bomb center, but he was not at the office yesterday. We have lot to thank God for!

Please pray for YWAM Norway; that our staff, and the entire body of Christ, will be anointed to point at Jesus in the days of sorrow and grief.

Lynn Green, one of YWAM’s elders and a veteran of 42 years in Youth With A Mission, has this invitation for people to get involved in this school:

The School of Mission Communication will be covering many different topics, including:

• Writing
• Photography
• Design
• Campaigns

The training will be presented from a mission context, rather than a journalistic, entertainment or business context. Unless you are in the field it’s hard to appreciate the difference, but this course should do well in helping missions communicators to present their stories in ways that will have the greatest impact with their audience.

After the three months of classroom training the students will have the opportunity to join of YWAM’s Regional Communication Teams for 3 – 6 months, or other communication initiatives around the world.

In rural Papua New Guinea one in seven women die in childbirth! Yep, that’s right, 1 in 7 women die in childbirth! That’s a shocking statistic to say the least. To give birth to a child a mother has a 15% chance of dying, can you imagine?

A friend of mine, Adriel Booker, in Australia works with YWAM Ships, a ministry that is currently working on delivering medical help into Papua New Guinea. She is a Mom, blogger and fellow YWAMer who has a strong passion for helping other mothers in need. To help expectant mothers in Papua New Guinea she has started a program called Bloggers for Birth Kits to help reduce maternal mortality in rural Papua New Guinea.

The way to help is so simple that anyone can do it…

For as little as a $2.00 donation you can purchase a Birth Kit. The Birth Kit is very simple, but according to the Birthing Kit Foundation can greatly help to reduce the incidence of infant and maternal mortality and morbidity. The kit includes:

• 1 plastic sheet to provide a clean birthing surface
• 1 bar of soap for clean hands during the birthing process and to clean the umbilical stump
• 1 pair of plastic gloves for clean hands
• 1 sterile scalpel blade to cut the umbilical cord
• 3 cords / pieces of strong string to tie the umbilical chord
• 5 gauze squares to clean the baby and mother

The kit is simple, yet effective. Adriel made up her own (which you can watch on the video at the bottom of this post), but I think the most effective way for us to help is to donate.

II was YWAMer in the year 2000 to 2005. I did my DTS and SOFM in Pune and was also on Staff for the Sofm in Bangalore, India. God has given me a vision to reach out unreach people groups and the Yadava poeple group.

We are distributing Clothes, Books and helping pay the Tuition Fee to the Poor S.C., S.T. and Economically Back ward Classes Children’s Studying Schools from 1st Class to 10th Class in the surrounding villages of Gudipala Mandal, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. We are also working with other villages. We need our Evangelism, Gospel works  and encouragement as they are engaged with coolly work due to their poverty giving up there studies.

We can easily reach out the unreached people groups in the remote villages. I am focusing on 15 different villages. We understand GOD has chosen people and groups like YWAM to Extend Your Valuable Support DTS Outreach Team mission team, or any Evangelism team. Although I receive a few of these requests a week I’m always keen to help out others who have been in YWAM. I also find it easier for Discipleship Training School and Outreach team leaders to verify things about people and locations if they have already had contact with other YWAM centres around the world…

Youth With A Mission Oxford sent out an e-mail update about what’s happening there and the YWAM Centre’s response to the crisis.Here is the e-mail:

Dear Friends and Family,

Thanks everyone for all your prayers and concerns.

As most of you have heard we are all doing fine here in Oxford. We definitely felt the earthquake, but no harm was done.

My main thoughts and prayers are for the city of Christchurch and just how we are to continue to respond as these events unfold. Last night we were able to send three vans in to Hagley Park where 100’s were displaced and without proper shelter in the rain. We brought 18 people back and were able to provide food, shelter and showers for the night. Today 9 of them have gone back into Christchurch in an attempt to resume their travel plans. The rest will stay here for another night and resume their plans tomorrow.

On another note, this weekend is our start date for our largest semester of the year. We have 55 students scheduled to come in this weekend to start our courses on Sunday. Domestic flights are running and international flights are scheduled to resume this afternoon, but will probably experience some delays.

Noah and Kate are doing fine at our City Ministry house in Christchurch, although the house sustained some damage.

Prayer Points

– How we as a community can best serve and respond as these events unfold

– That our network and communication lines will remain open

– Quick recovery of Christchurch city

– Comfort for those experiencing great loss, fear and trauma

– That our students would not be detoured from attending our courses

– That there would be minimal setbacks for the running of our schools (ie. possible delay of food supply and fuel as the immediate need is focused on the city.)
