We must learn to control ourselves, thoughts and emotions or feelings. When we have control of these elements (inner world), then gradually we gain control of our outer world. A person will not have favorable circumstance unless being in alignment of receiving favorable circumstance.

Self-discipline begins with the mastery of your thoughts. If you do not control what you think, you cannot control what you do. Simply, self-discipline enables you to think first and act afterward. - Napoleon Hill

If we control ourselves, we control our thoughts. Self-control opens new direction for our thoughts to travel. This new direction will suggest actions which produce more of what we want and less of what we do not want. If you analyze carefully, you will realize self-control can save us from most unwanted consequences.

Everyone has mental power and their mind possess the power. The necessary action is not only to gain access but to utilize the benefit of having such power. A person who has achieved this level, can be found always cheerful, in their world within and the outer world.

Having self-control bring us peace of mind and leads us towards detachment. At the end of the day, we will achieve our ultimate goal of life, which is Self-Realization.

There's no specific method of gaining wisdom. Wisdom can be gained almost everywhere and every time. Even if we quiet our mind, remove ourself from the outer world, we still can gain wisdom from the silence within us.

Experience can give us wisdom. It does not have to be personal experience, it can be somebody else one. We cannot go through every experience by ourself. Our life is short but we have unlimited amount of learning capability. Thus we can learn and gain wisdom from other people's experience, good or bad. Every experience should be counted.

If we are constantly learning from experiences, we are gaining wisdom and becoming wiser. From experience, we will be able to think better and make better choices in life. By thinking better and making better choices, we improve our life. By improving our life, we make good life. That's the purpose of wisdom, to help us make good life. To make good life is then the purpose of our life.

We make our life by the choices we make. The choice we choose will bring us what we deserve. Often people do not realize this. They do not analyze their circumstances yet then they blame outer things if anything goes wrong. These are normal people. If these people are wise, they would analyze the whole circumstance from the start to the end. They know they create or attract to themselves that circumstance.

Observation can help us to gain wisdom. Observe people and everything that's happening around us. Although wisdom is everywhere, it's beyond ordinary physical senses. We have to look and see beyond to gain wisdom and be wiser. Every circumstance/event have its lesson for us, nothing is perfectly bad or good.

This world is created in balance. For every dark side, there's an equal amount of light side. Wise people look at the light side more than the dark side. At the same time, they do not ignore the dark side. They look at the dark side only once to find the reason it exist in their life. A wise person knows exactly how to extract wisdom from both light and dark.

Young or old, both of them provides wisdom to one another. Every human have something to teach and every human have something to learn. Learning and gaining wisdom is never ending process. When people are talking, we should listen to them and find out what we can gain from their talking or behavior. Wilson Mizner said, a good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while, he knows something.

This Too Shall Pass

The phrase "This Too Shall Pass" came from Jewish wisdom folktale, involving King Solomon. I love the phrase and the story that originated the phrase. Have you heard of the story? There are many version available but I took the one I found on wikipedia (as of 23rd April 2009) and made some editing, here it is:

One day, King Solomon decided to humble Benaiah Ben Yehoyada, his most trusted minister. King Solomon said to him, "Benaiah, there is a certain ring that I want you to bring to me. I wish to wear it for Sukkot which gives you six months to find it."

Benaiah replied, "If it exists anywhere on earth, your majesty, I will find it and bring it to you but what makes the ring so special?"

King Solomon answered, "It has magic powers, if a happy man looks at it, he becomes sad, and if a sad man looks at it, he becomes happy." King Solomon knew that no such ring existed in the world but he wished to give his minister a little taste of humility.

Spring passed, then summer and still Benaiah had no idea where he could find the ring. On the night before Sukkot, he decided to take a walk in one of the poorest quarters of Jerusalem.

He passed by a merchant who had begun to set out the day's wares on a shabby carpet. Benaiah asked, "Have you by any chance heard of a magic ring that makes the happy wearer forget his joy and the broken-hearted wearer forget his sorrows?"

He watched the grandfather take a plain gold ring from his carpet and engrave something on it. When Benaiah read the words on the ring, his face broke out in a wide smile.

That night the entire city welcomed in the holiday of Sukkot with great festivity. King Solomon asked, "Well, my friend, have you found what I sent you after?" All the ministers laughed and Solomon himself smiled. To everyone's surprise, Benaiah held up a small gold ring and declared, "Here it is, your majesty!"

As soon as Solomon read the inscription, the smile vanished from his face. The jeweler had written three Hebrew letters on the gold band: gimel, zayin, yud, which began the words Gam zeh ya'avor -- This too shall pass. At that moment Solomon realized that all his wisdom and fabulous wealth and tremendous power were but fleeting things, for one day he would be nothing but dust.

Abraham Lincoln made the phrase and story popular in his 'Address Before the Wisconsin State Agricultural Society, Milwaukee, Wisconsin' on September 30, 1859.

Fill your mind with affirmative thoughts and leave no space for negative thoughts to take root in your mind. One of the hardest thing to do is to focus on the good instead of the negative when everything is not on your way. However, if you could escape from the gate of illusion, you will see the truth. The truth will set you free. The truth exist in the world within you and know that God is the Truth.

Look deep into your inner self, from there you will receive guidance that will take you to where you want to go. It all have to get started from inside to outside. If you look for guidance out there, you will not find it. Although you found, it's not going to be perfect for long time.

Anything you receive from the outside world will not last forever, but if you create something from deep inside of you with love, you will find it's for eternity. That's why people say only true love last forever. True love comes by looking within the soul, not outside appearances.

When you have conquered your mind and freed from negative things, your soul will start to shine and your life will be blessed by the divine power that exist in your soul. Each and every day, we wake up to a new opportunity to make the most out of our lives. Many people, however, don't take this opportunity and continue to live in the shadowy realms of the past. Living in the past is a nasty habit that few people can actually say they don't participate in. It is human nature to evaluate the past repeatedly in order to make sense out of the present and plan for the future.

Learning to let go of the past is something that needs to be practiced regularly by living within the present moment. While we certainly shouldn't forget the lessons that our past has taught us, we also do not need to relive negative moments from the past in order to survive the day.

If someone chooses to relive past mistakes each day, they will continue to punish themselves repeatedly for something that they have no doubt already suffered for. Why continue to wrong your heart and your soul by dwelling on things that cannot be changed and no longer even exist?

Whether someone has harmed you or you have harmed someone else, you need to learn to forgive them as well as yourself, and then move on. There's no need to continue replaying the event in your mind. Approach the day with love and a renewed commitment to enjoy the life that you have in the here and now. If you don't, then you will only have more to regret down the line if you allow yourself to fall into that sort of thinking.

Let go of the past and your judgments of the past. Free yourself to move forward and remove those clouds that are obscuring your inner light. It may not be easy, but work each day at letting go of thoughts of the past as soon as they arise. You will enjoy life more and feel better as you keep practicing this essential step toward happiness and joy.

People think that thoughts can be hidden from others. It's true in some way, however, in the other way, your thoughts and feelings creates expressions or behaviors, which cannot be hidden from others.

The good thoughts creates positive energy while the bad thoughts creates negative energy. So, if you think good thoughts, your facial expression will be positive. Everything you do, you will do it with the positive energy, which then attracts positive outcome.

Your thoughts, moods, feelings or emotions are the reflection of your inner state of being. If you are happy within, your appearance on the outer world will be happy. You will be cheerful and appear happy towards others. Who knows? You might even brighten someone's day. :)

Wisdom can be mean "ability to judge correctly and to follow the best course of action, based on knowledge and understanding." That's one of the definitions that I have found on the Internet. There are variations on the definition of wisdom and every person would probably come with something different than the other. However, at the end, it all goes back to the way of right way of life.

Every person show their wisdom in different manner. The best manner comes from the wisdom of wise people. Their wisdom involves deep understanding and acting in correct way. The wise people with wisdom views life and experiences in larger perspective than the ordinary. Other than that, wikipedia mentioned wisdom to be "having intuitive understanding."

There are some people assume wisdom to be the knowledge that you gain from life experiences, which has developed your common sense. Doing the right thing at the right time, wisdom is about guiding us to proper way of behaving and makes us to have wise attitude. Furthermore, it has been said that a person with good common sense can be assumed to have good amount of wisdom.

Mahatma Gandhi is well known for his quotation "We must become the change we want to see." This quotation is absolutely true. We can never change unless we can change ourselves and only we can change ourselves. No one else can do it for us because we belong to ourselves and only we have the right to choose any change we want for ourselves.

We have no control of things that happen outside ourselves. We can neither change other people. However, we can always change ourselves. It's the choice we have been given for our life. If you want to change your life, you should not ignore this rule. It's the key. Changes produce different result.

Doing the same thing will bring the same result. A little bit of change can improve the result. A complete change will totally bring different outcome. Wallace Wattles have explained that it is natural law that like causes produces like effects. If you do not like the effects, you have to change the causes and the causes are always within ourselves.

The purpose of life is to move from imperfection to perfection, and to be perfect is to change often. If you have tried to do things different and yet you have not gotten the result you want, then try to do those things in different way. A good example of inventor that has applied this principle is Thomas Edison.

You must put effort to change as because changes do not happen naturally. We must enforce ourselves to take the necessary actions towards our goal. If you are trying to attract certain things or events, you must make it clear in your mind and the intuition that you will receive will often lead you to do certain things.

As known, thought is an energy. It creates force that comes from within us. This force affects not only our own life but those living around us. Here, exist the importances of entertaining the thoughts that can serve all our harmony purposes. Look for the good and bright side of everything and always expect good. If your expectation is strong, it will manifest itself into the reality of your life and those that are around you.

"Like attracts like" is well known phrase and has been mentioned in The Secret. A thought attracts other people that have the same kind of thoughts. About our circumstances, we attract the circumstance that we have been expecting. We attract things that are similar to our thoughts. Anais Nin said that "We don't see things as they are; we see them as we are."
