A New Fire Station in Huntersville

What’s that new building going up on Eastfield Road? After a little detective work we found that it’s a new fire station for the Town of Huntersville. This particular station will serve the eastern Huntersville area. While this will start as a volunteer station it will be converted over to a municipal paid station in time. The projected completion date is unknown but the rate of construction is moving along at a fast pace. Consumer Confidence, A Key To Housing Market

It’s true that consumer confidence is an important indicator of economic health of a country. Several factors influence the general public consumer confidence just as they do our individual confidence. Right now the greatest factor in confidence is income security… which starts with job security. While many people have taken a pay cut the real concern is a complete job loss. Until this fear is minimized the economy will continue to be unstable.

Caution, Remember To Think For Yourself!

The consumer confidence index looked great in August with a nearly seven point gain over July. In September the index fell just over a point. The talking heads will use this information to sell their “news” broadcast or paper. So, be careful not to be swayed by the negativity. The fact remains that since July consumer confidence has grown by over five points. That is important and is the real message that should be announced.

Holiday Season Shopping

This year’s holiday shopping numbers will be a great indicator of the real consumer confidence. It’s safe to expect that the spending numbers will not be greater than last year simply because so many people have lost their jobs since 2008. However, many people have also been re-hired and will spend money during the holidays.

What About The Housing Market?

The fact remains, when people fear for their income they are not likely to purchase big ticket items such as cars, boats, housing. Instead, then tend to make do with what they already have.

The Real Road To Economic Recovery

When more companies have a need for additional employees their existing employees will feel more secure with their jobs as will the new employees. Growing companies equal job security which leads to income security. That will boost consumer confidence and more people will start buying the big ticket items again. What is needed to start this trend could be the coming holiday season shopping. Regardless of how it compares to years before, the key is for people to start shopping again at a level they can afford. This demand will provide jobs and the ball starts rolling.towards economic recovery.

Don’t let the hype affect the actions you take! Be prudent in your spending and never buy more on credit than you can afford to pay off at the end of the month. If you do this then you don’t need to listen to the people who tell you how bad things are.

Two new Wal-Mart Stores!

Have you heard that there are two new Wal-Marts? One is conveniently located near the neighborhoods of Highland Creek, Skybrook and Winding Walk. It’s not as easy to spot from the road as the traditional Wal-Mart stores of the past. If you’re heading towards the mall on Concord Mills blvd. turn on Thunder Road (right in front of the Auto Bell), then follow on until the massive store pops up in front of you! The other new location is 7735 North Tryon Street in the University City area. This particular store provides a wide variety including a full service McDonald’s, banking center, Vision Center, Garden Center and much more. FINALLY, we are getting the news media to report what real estate agents have been seeing over the past few months. That is, the real estate market is getting better. This begs the question, better for whom?

Who is Benefiting From the Improvements in the Real Estate Market?

Amazingly it is both the buyers AND sellers who are benefiting from the recent real estate market improvements. How can that be? Simple, buyers have very low mortgage interest rates, plenty of inventory, lower prices and, for first-time buyers, the $8,000 first-time buyer tax credit. With all this incentive it’s a great time to buyer real estate!

How Sellers Benefit Too!

Sellers on the other hand are finally seeing price declines slowing down or stopping all together. Better yet, in many area of the country prices are starting to inch back up! All this is due to the influx of buyers taking advantage of the current buyer’s market. As more buyers come out and snap up the great deals they are reducing the inventory and improving the market for the remaining sellers.

Buyers Are Seeing The Need For Urgency.

Buyers who have been sitting on the fence better take notice and get in the game before the game changes favor to the sellers! Many buyers “get this” and are making moves now. This is good for everyone and for the countries economy as well.

Washington Redskins Super Bowls

As residents of Northern Virgina in the 1980’s we were avid Redskins Fans. So, when Joe Gibbs took the Redskins to Four Super Bowls and won three of them we all sang his praise. Finally, the Redskins were a force to be reckoned with!

Gibbs Racing Championships

Then we moved to Charlotte North Carolina… Racing’s home town. What could be better than to have Joe Gibbs move from football to NASCAR? NOTHING! What a coup… our hero took his NASCAR teams to reign as champions for three years. Joe Gibbs is one of very few people to lead teams to compete and win at a championship level in two completely different sports. This is an amazing accomplishment.
