]]>RPGs are common staples in any gamer’s collection. Regardless of the sort of game in the RPG genre you get, you can be sure that you get a lot of different worlds, experiences, and even situations that you can chew on.
Personally, a lot of us are big fans of the Tales series. Later this year, they’ll be re-releasing Tales of Vesperia so you may want to check that out!
There are a lot of fighting games out there in the market. There are classic ones like Street Fighter or Tekken and the newer ones which vary from Mortal Kombat to Blaz Blue. Fighting games are always a good sort of thing to invest in since you can keep playing with friends and you won’t get bored as no two fights are the same.
Personally, a lot of us are big fans of Tekken. We’re just sorely disappointed with the latest one as it seems that all the character’s growth was bowled over to present the point of view of someone (the reporter) who no one cared about.
There are always games which are purely for enjoyment. These are the sort of games that you can pick up and drop so you don’t have to worry about strategies and other things that tend to bog those that want something that’s more on the casual end of the spectrum.
Personally, a lot of us like card games like Poker. Good thing about this is that if you’re looking for gambling games, you’re not restricted to consoles. Online casinos and other such sites are pretty great.
With all this, it’s a pretty safe bet that games are going to continue way past our generation and we’re pretty happy with that. What about on your end? What sort of games would you recommend other people play?

]]>The post Before You Play: Console Gaming Essentials That You Should Have appeared first on XN Play.
]]>Here are a few console gaming essentials that you should have:
Most consoles of today have wireless controllers. They usually are powered by batteries or have charging cables. While it would great if the cables came with the consoles—or at least in the case of the PS4, it had more than one—but this is not always the case. So when you’re going to embark on a console gaming adventure, it would be good to have charging cables or charging stations so you don’t have to spend a fortune on batteries.
A majority of console gamers now play with other with other players online. There are games which are co-op games so teamwork is necessary. When you’re going to be focused on helping your team, it would important to be able to talk to them and hear them. Having good noise cancelling headphones would be important so that you won’t be distracted by noise around you.
If you are going to be playing online, it would be good that you do not get disconnected midgame. There is nothing worse than dying in a game because your internet was too slow. Lag rage is a very real thing and in order to spare yourself from that, it would be best if you invest in a reliable internet connection or subscription.
With all this, it would be safe to say that your gaming experience would be better than most. Just the same way that a gambler wouldn’t jump into a bet without having prepared or having his tools with him, a gamer shouldn’t jump into gaming without all the necessary things. What about on your end? What other console gaming essentials do you think should be part of this list?

]]>Released in 1981, this game is generally considered to be the very first platformer. Every gamer who was living or born in the 80s often attribute this as their very first taste of the game. It is fairly simple in its mechanics. You play a character that bears a strong resemblance to Mario who has to avoid dropping barrels and what appear to be little fire monsters and try to save the damsel in distress.
There is a lot of jumping and moving back and forth which is quite indicative of the platformer genre of games. This is iconic due to its age and the familiarity that people have with it. There have been a lot of copies of this through the years so people tend to have come across a variation of this.
Contra was released in 1987 which first started as a full-fledged arcade game. It was a coin-operated machine that focused on two commandos which had to fight was seemed to be regular enemies which later escalated into a full fight against an alien race.
Later, it was released for the NES. From there, people could choose to either play alone or play with another player. The simultaneous gameplay was a bit unheard of at this time so it was very clear that a new breed of games was about to be ushered in.
Mega Man, as you may know, is a robot that hunts rogue robots. He may look like a child but don’t let this fool you. He is fully equipped to tackle the long string of enemies that he has to face. To this day, Mega Man remains to be one of the most beloved characters in a video game.
Mega Man was the very first in non-linear gameplay. Players were able to choose which boss they wanted to tackle first and it was a theme was kept consistently through the entire series.
With this, it’s pretty safe to say that the games we’ve mentioned are indeed iconic. These games are on the same level of fame as you would expect from poker or slot machines. What about on your side of things? What platform games would you consider to be iconic?

]]>We’re here to discuss some indie games which have pretty much provided new and amazing games which shot into instant popularity. We wanted to list them off today since we do believe that you should give them a try when you are able to!
Platform games have often been popular. In fact, a majority of the very first video games were primarily platformers. As time went by, games veered toward better graphics and a more 360 degree feel of the world. So when Cuphead finally dropped in September 2017, people were instantly hit with the nostalgia factor.
It was a visually arresting game but what really set it apart was how difficult it was and there were no cheats whatsoever so people really had to work for their games.
While not relatively “new”, it is still fairly recent—like in the last 10 years recent—Minecraft was once thought to be one of those highly disposable games that you pick up and promptly lose interest in. However, it remains to be one of the more popular games for the Xbox and other platforms.
It’s a relatively simple premise: harvesting, building, surviving. People, as it turns out, really like the routine. And it is the simplicity of the game enables the release of their creativity.
If you’re a big fan of the 8-bit movement, then this is a game that you’ll love. This game has a massive following due to the fact that a lot of YouTube personalities dedicated several hours of gameplay for this.
While it is often compared to Minecraft, “Terraria” has its own charm and a higher level of difficulty. If a player isn’t paying attention, they can end up dying and losing important items that they’ve picked up.
With this, it’s pretty safe to say that Indie games will continue to have the support that it needs in order to dominate the gaming industry. What about on your end? Which indie games from the Xbox do you particularly like?

]]>When you buy a console, you needn’t have to worry about getting a game that the system cannot handle. Most games that are usually in the market around the same time are made specifically to match the current console.
One of the main problems with computer systems and games which come out is that you have to make sure that your PC can handle the game. If you find that your system cannot run the game smoothly, you either have to sit out the game or to spend money to upgrade your rig so that you’ll be able to play.
A console removes this issue because you know that whatever game comes out—as long as it’s made for the console you have—it will run.
Gaming is an activity which can last for hours on end so comfort is essential. Computer gaming uses a keyboard and that doesn’t exactly keep one’s comfort in mind. A majority of the pro-gamers in the world tend to have injuries on their hands because of fast clicking over extended periods of time.
Console gaming usually has well-designed controllers to keep the comfort of the player in mind. The Sony PlayStation controller is often touted to be the best designed one in terms of size and layout.
PC gaming can have good seasons but mostly bad ones. We say “bad” because you often have to wait for the PC port of a certain console game for several months later. A good example of this would be Monster Hunter World. This game came out January 2018 for consoles. PC gamers had to wait around 7 months before it finally graced the PC.
With all this, it’s safe to say that many of us will still prefer console gaming in the future. What about on your end? Which sort of gaming do you prefer: PC or Console?
