I’ve mostly let this blog go fallow for more than a year as I focus on other business pursuits, but a tragic event last week has prompted me to add this post and do a little much-needed maintenance over here.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you likely heard about the avalanche on Ranger Peak in Grand Teton National Park that claimed the lives of TetonAT blogger Steve Romeo and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort employee Chris Onufer. While I didn’t know Chris, I considered Steve a friend, and the passing of these two fine men has left a huge hole in the Teton skiing community and beyond. Rather than re-hash anything here, I will share some links to information that does a better job of telling the story than I can do here.

Rest in peace, Steve and Chris. You are and will continue to be missed…

As of 2:30 this afternoon, Rendezvous Bowl had received 16 inches of new snow, according to the Summary of Automated Weather Station Data at jhavalanche.org.

Looking to the future, I happened across this image (I think it’s from NOAA) showing the typical jet stream pattern and seasonal weather conditions observed across the US during moderate to strong La Niñas.
