<itunes:subtitle>Interview with Stanislaw Sterkowicz about the Special Judo Fitness Test.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Interview with Stanislaw Sterkowicz about the Special Judo Fitness Test.In this the first "real" episode, I was fortunate to speak with Stanislaw Sterkowicz in Poland. His role in academia has resulted in him being able to conduct extensive research in Judo, his work has been referenced by myself on more than one occasion on my own University of Bath assignments. The Special Judo Fitness Test (the Sterkowicz test), is a sport specific fitness test for Judo. In this interview we discuss the accuracy, relevance and use of the test.As part of this recording Stanislaw and I have made a variety of resources available relating to the test. They can be found at www.judocoach.com/judo.htmlThe resources include a video showing how to conduct the test, a spreadsheet to help collate the results and several word documents on the test itself.*** Now available to buy as a CD from LULU.com *** </itunes:summary>

Statistical anaylsis of Yasuhiro Yamashita.

 <itunes:subtitle>Basic analysis of Yasuhiro Yamashita's competition results.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary> Basic analysis of Yasuhiro Yamashita's competition results. This research was done at the University of Bath after attending a lecture by Simon Hicks on video analysis in Judo also in part encoraged by another lecture by Mike Callan on statistical analysis. Enthused by the lectures I sat down with Yamashita Sensei's book Fighting Spirit, which as an appendix lists his competition results.Using that data, I have been able to identify the top techniques (waza) used by this great champion. The results were suprising and highlight a need perhaps to assess "playing the referee" in our club coaching. </itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary> Machine read version of the summary statistics from the 2006 Commonwealth Judo Tournament held in Londonderry. The statistics are based on collecting data on the number of attacks and scores in approximately 100 fights recorded over two days. This was done in part to determine if collecting such data would provide meaningful information for players, coaches, spectators, etc.A more formal and detailed report is (slowly) being developed and will eventually be made available. </itunes:summary>
