How to write creatively is a question often asked when a writer is facing writer’s block or word dearth. The frustration peaks since the writer has run out of ammunition to fire novelties. On the other hand, a novice, with zero experience at writing, but brimming with thoughts might also ponder over the question of how to write creatively. So here is my list of some ways to help you write creatively:

Cast yourself away from PC: At times friend, at times foe. This juggler’s box that still doesn’t cease to amaze us can at times prove to hinder most brutally. Carrying yourself away from the computer helps in breaking ice on the blocked up gush of thoughts and ideas.

Jump Out of the Box: I do not comprehend this most beaten cliché’. How can one not change surroundings, situations and routing and still expect to dish out novelties? Somebody thinking about Abracadabra! To think out of the box, you need to jump out of the box first a.k.a. change, in or out. Btw, you can also give a shot at changing habits, not the goaded ones but a little tweak, here and there.

Learn from kids: Kids have a knack of picking things with their true meaning. They cannot comprehend the details due to limited experience but whatever they perceive and pick are raw realities . Freeing ourselves from the emotional complications of life, looking at things in their true colors, helps in speeding up the creative writing process.

Find a Perk palace: To write creatively, one got to think. To think you need a spacing that does not hinder. Now for everyone there comes a different appeal towards settings and situations. There would be for you. For me it is a brief stroll in my backyard or a few hours with old friends. It helps me to loosen up, share and shape thoughts into words, conversing over aimless things, hence providing myself with a neat flow. Do find  yours to catch up with unhindered flow of creativity.

Read, read and read: To water your production house, read stuff that is inspirational and stimulates you up to write something of your own. One mistake that I used to make was, trying to keep my reading into a marked up line with a few authors. The more you expand authors, more writing styles you come across. When you switch from one author to another, you can even see the words change their meanings in usage and this tends to be a hallmark for your own creative writing.

Flaunt your wings: Everyone has got a personal talent or inclination. Exploit that for your writing. Flaunt your knowledge with self assertion and style. By the end of the day, not only will you have material but a sense of personal achievement as well. If you are afraid of straying away from your blog’s cliché then remember that first of all it is your blog and you can write anything that comes to your mind. Secondly, readers only love the personal touch in things. so it is ok to occasionally rant about your cat, dog or kids

Natural Callings: Writing something about things that comes naturally doesn’t require singing your own praises, rather the authority shines itself through words. so give a must-shot to things that interest and inspire you to write creatively.

Abraham Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address to honor the bravery and valor of the soldiers who laid down their lives for America, during the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1 to July 3, 1863).

Background of the Gettysburg Address

On November 19, 1863, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Abraham Lincoln was requested to commence a few fitting remarks on the occasion of sanctification of Gettysburg, in the memory of the soldiers who lost their lives at the Battle of Gettysburg. Gettysburg was a battlefield where Battle of Gettysburg was fought as part of American Civil War (1861–1865).The battle ensued between the armies of North and South, ultimately resulting in the triumph of Union against the Confederate. Casualties of Americans were estimated between 46,000 and 51,000, making it the highest number of casualties during American Civil War.

Lincoln was invited as a guest speaker by David Wills, and was supposed to make a brief speech following the main speech delivered by Edward Everett that took two hours. On the other hand, Lincoln’s speech was only a two-minute-affair, yet it moved the sentiment of the crowd to the exalt, that there followed a standing ovation by a crowd of 15,000.

Till day, the Gettysburg Address is remembered as a literary masterpiece in American history, delivering a vital element with minimal choice of words.

Abraham Lincoln’s Address

Unlike popular belief, Lincoln did not write the draft of Gettysburg Address on the back of an envelope,during his way to Gettysburg. He started jotting down phrases and sentences in pencil on a paper and finished off the complete draft on another page, on the morning of the address.

Later, Edward Everett wrote to Abraham Lincoln,

"I should be glad if I could flatter myself that I came as near the the central idea of the occasion in two hours as you did in two minutes."

Text of the Gettysburg Address

Four score and seven years ago our father brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether the nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can long endure. We are here on a great battle field of that war. We have to dedicate a proportion of it as a final resting place. For those here who gave there lives that the nation might live. It is altogether fighting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow, this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled who have hallowed it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us-that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion-that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom-and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

How do you like yours?

An exacting culinary essence is made by mixing a series of individual flavors. There is no standard recipe for any culinary specialty, since it all depends, how creative a cook can get. Over time, I have come up with my own personal delights.

Now thinking, I wonder how does one get to invent a particular specialty. You get the basic ingredients, throw in some trial spices, cook on an intuitional-whim, tweak a few more ingredients and bingo, you get a new gastronomic delight.

Now let’s break it in pieces and pick up a thing or two from kitchen heroics.

When you cook creatively, you tend to stick to a few primary rules:

Basic Ingredients (a flavored cappuccino without coffee beans is creative, but not a cappuccino),

Main Frame (even the most innovative pizza would have the hierarchy of bread, cheese and topping)

Cooking Methodologies (no matter what your cookie’s batter is made off, it still has to take its sun bath in the oven.)

Similarly, whilst writing creatively, you do not have to let go in all directions. It’s best to let go, but only if you know where your feet are. Balancing on a solid ground and then experimenting with ideas and thoughts from a concrete base would fetch results, fast and furious.

Tying up the chef’s apron again, imagine if you are to invent a recipe from scratch. Where would you be? Of course, in the mid of nowhere! Grabbing at straws out of thin air might give some initial sparks to start on a new project, but unfortunately it would never lead anyplace further. So that is how you start on with a writing project. You hunt down and pick a few basic rules to stick to. Upon these, you slowly build a pyramid of ideas. Borrowing from spatial creativity and innovative spurs you edit and re edit your work. At the same time the better you know what you are cooking, the better results you ought to achieve.

So, the next time you commence a writing project, do think and prepare, by donning a chef’s hat to get the exacting flavor.

They were also daunted by my last night’s foe

There was laughter and music continued

The juggler himself haunted, put on a good show

Pennies for smiles; fortunes for laughter

Frozen hearts; loud applause; the house rocked to and fro

The show came to an end; yet nobody knew

Who it was playing behind the clown’s crew

I traced the strings of the ring master’s lyre

And came to look into eyes of my last night’s foe

You bring pleasure; lest naught settles the pain

I don’t understand the rules of this game

Pray! Make me known to this mystery

It is haunting me beyond any death’s bellow

I saw its eyes change colors by dozen

Yet I couldn’t decide, it was beauty

Or a savage lost in the brazen

Yet I waited for an answer to come through

Pleasure is a stage; pain is the play

Relief is ending; suffering is zenith’s bray

Worry thou naught: O thinker!

For the likes of you; my bite lies astray

You seek answers; the blood continues its flow

You fall in pattern; ice descends in these veins so blue

I am here and I will wait

Till the day you cease tries, to catch the day

I will return to give you taste of frost’s blood

Then you will laugh, unknown to joy’s bud

To cast off, you will pick a Stream of Life to pursue

And will become someone’s last night foe

Pray creature of last night

Are you a friend, or an ominous fright?

Why letting me in on secrets of such plight

Go on, and resume your journey past the skies

Though unstoppable, my quest and deft

Yet the vault, I build is not for mine to thrive

I build for masters from another world

Yet I suffer for myself, an unquenchable theft

I can seduce: I can lure

But the flesh lost its meaning one bloody night

Blood is what, now I collect; sensation is such I prune

I play with colors, yet I stand a bland sight

I inflict wounds by a measure

Then I give pain and I give pleasure

The being plays; whilst I collect

Love, laughter and joy’s treasure

There is a market and there are bazzars

Having authority beyond those of Tsars

One part joy; nine parts lust

One pint luck; nine pints rust

This is what they long

My commodity, makes them feel, loved and belonged

Enslaved by their own worldly mires

These poor beings walk happily, into siren’s pyres

Pray Creature! So strange, so true

Why to unfold a ruse so lewd

Then ‘tis the last, I heard from my parting last night’s foe

Because once, I too, was a creature of love like you
