I do not have enough time and commitments to do so. This new theme is very neat, clean and have many features that I cannot resist. It was made by digitalnature and this is the first free theme with truly premium quality I ever found.

This theme was featured in WordPress Theme Repository.

So, now I am still thinking what I am gonna do with WPThemestudio. Maybe just make a “small” plugin which I use personally and share with the world. I definitely cannot make a theme because it involved a lot of works and time which I sadly do not have for it.

This is some progress about WPThemestudio X2 project.

I admit it is challenging for me to complete this project, as I am doing it part time and I’m still lack of knowledge. The programming was intellectually challenging but after I manage to find the solutions, I am very satisfied. It’s like I’m achieving something new in life.

I manage to add WPTS X2 sub menu under the Appearance tab.

WPTS X2 Sub Menu

I also happen to make the admin option page and successfully show the form.

WPTS X2 Admin Page

Please click the image to view the highest resolution image. I put thumbnail version in this post because the highest resolution do not fit the width of this post page.

The menu above is showing stylesheet selector for WPTS X2. I use
scandir
and
readdir
php function to scan the directory of
wptsx2-theme
to look for css files inside that folder and then display the file name in the loop. Then the user have to type the css file name in the text area. Actually I am trying to use
<select><option>
form style. But I cannot save the value. My coding still in new age.

So I manage to save the value and call them again to use them in my hooks. But there again I stuck. Whenever I click the submit button, I will get this error.

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at C:\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\themes\wpthemestudiox2\wptsx2-includes\colour-switcher.php:12) inC:\xampplite\htdocs\wordpress\wp-includes\pluggable.php on line 865

I do not know where I’ve done wrong.

I’ve search the internet and WordPress support forum itself, but fail to find any solution. The suggested solution is all talking about white space between the ?> and <? which I believe I do not have that issue. But right now, I am posting at several webmaster forum and hope to get responds from them to fix this issue.

At the mean time, I am updating my other blog.

Thank you for reading.

Regards,

It’s been a long day since I update this blog. At this moment, I’m working on two WordPress theme. I call them WP Tube Substitution and WPThemestudio X2.

WP Tube Substitution

This theme is a mimic of Youtube video sharing website. Although I have finished version 0.1, I’m still not releasing it for public because there’s still some bugs and functionalities that I wish to fix before releasing it for you all to download. This theme is the continuing series for the theme WordPress Tube. As WordPress tube reflects the old design of Youtube, this new theme will reflects the new design of Youtube.

You can see WP Tube Substitution Version 0.1 live in action at sYokManga.com which is one of my beta tester.

This theme will have two version. Public version and Premium version. Public version will be just like ordinary WordPress theme with 50% design of Youtube including its functionality and video position. Premium version will have all function as in WordPress Tube plus 95% of Youtube design and far better codings than WordPress Tube. Same as Youtube video positions, url box and embed box. WordPress Tube will be discontinue for download when WP Tube Substitution released to public.

If you wish to become my beta tester, feel free to contact me privately using the contact form.

WPThemestudio X2

I think I will not making any child theme anymore. I will focus on one parent theme and the customizations will only affects the color scheme of the theme. Beside, what’s the point of using that theme if its not looking like what the theme should look?

If you wish however to have such theme, there’s far better theme framework than WPThemestudio. Well developed and supported such as Hybrid theme by Justin Tadlock.

WPThemestudio X2 is the continuing series of WPThemestudio. It still have the same concept, but far different codings and structure. WPThemestudio will be discontinue for public when WPThemestudio X2 released to public.

This theme will concentrate more to “no hand code for user” concept. Hence all customizations will be done only through WordPress administration page. However somehow, for someone that never took formal php programming language lesson like me, I am a little bit slow in learning how to make this feature. But so far, I manage to create the option page for this theme. It’s just that I’m still stuck on how to save the value of the variables to WordPress database and then call up the value to use in the settings.

Good news to everyone, this theme will be available for all at no cost at all.

Wish me good luck.

AddHooks is one of my volatile idea when creating a wordpress theme.

Just like its name, it add the content from functions.php files to the hook assigned to it.

The concept is to store the desired html or php code in a functions.

Step by step tutorials on how to make wordpress childtheme.

Child theme is another individual theme on its own theme folder.

But child theme inherits all the styling and functions that exist in the parent theme assign to it.

Pros:

Can tweak the theme without changing the codes at original(parent) theme.

Can update the original(parent) theme without losing the tweaks that you have made.

Cons:

Need depth understanding about original(parent) theme code styling, sturctures, and functions.

Need to upload the parent theme as well to get the child theme works.

How To Make A Child Theme

Child Theme CSS

First you need to create a folder to hold the child theme files. You can name it as what you like but make sure you don’t have the same name folder exist in your theme directory.

For example, we want to make a child theme for WPThemestudio theme. So I create new folder named wpts-childtheme.

I make the folder’s name to be all small letters so it is server friendly.

Next, we need to create the minimum basic file. The style.css file. Make a new text file in the folder. And rename it to style.css. Make sure your computer is set to “Show extension for known files” or else you cannot change the text file to css file.

Open the style.css file with your favourite html editor or the plain notepad will do the job. My favourite html editor is Dreamweaver.

Paste the particular below at your style.css file.

/*

Theme Name: WPThemestudio - Child Theme

Theme URI: http://wpthemestudio.com/wordpress-theme/wpthemestudio/

Description: Custom wordpress theme for YOURWEBSITE.COM

Version: 0.1

Author: Pangeran Wiguan

Author URI: http://pangeran.org/

Tags: editable, css, child theme, valid xhtml, plugin theme,

Template: wpthemestudio

*/

The most important parts is, Template: wpthemestudio. You must put the parent theme folder name there.

After that, if you still want to use the styling of the parent theme, you must add the code below to your style.css.

@import url("../wpthemestudio/style.css");

If you put the above code, and there are styling in the original css file you want to change, you can override it by copying the css value in the child theme css file and change what you like to change.

We are done!

That’s the basic of making a working child theme.
