Cleaning up Entrecard Contest!

The purpose of this contest is to get those bad blogs lingering around with Terms of Service or Blog Quality Standards violations out of entrecard.

Before we get started as to how you will enter and how the winner will be chosen and how the winner(s) will be rewarded...

You must dust off the old Terms of Service and Blog Quality Standards of Entrecard.

Please read them before continuing if you are not previously familiar.

To enter this contest you must:

Be an entrecard member.

Be familiar with the Blog Quality Standards and the Terms of Service.

Know how to report a user for a terms of service offense.

Now, lets go through this shall we.

1. http://www.entrecard.com - Register (If you not already a user)
a. Get approved (If you are not already approved)
2. Click the 'Blog Quality Standards' link above.
3. First you must find a blog that has something wrong.
a. In the case of auto-audio, not english, no recent content, etc. you would find their widget, and click the entrecard logo (will take you to their profile page) located on their profile page you will find thisAnd enter in the reason. This can be in the form of rule number, or your worded version of the violation.

4. Here is where it gets tricky. If you do not find a widget. Now, the best way to report a blog without a widget is to back track to their profile page. (If that is how you got there) however, if they have dropped on you and the only way to go is to follow the link to their site from your inbox, you must hover and wait for a name. (This will only work in the inbox rss feed on top of your dashboard. ) Then write down the title, and go to the campaign page, search for the blog's title, go to their profile page and report them for 'No Widget'.

Please before you send any reports. The 'feedback' function will not be counted. The valid entries must be Terms of Service reports. (Theres a huge difference)

So, what determines a 'Valid Entry'? A valid entry is an offense that is persecutable by either "Warning" or a "Deletion".

How will you be scored? Every 'Warning' counts as 1 point and Every 'Deletion' counts as 2 points.

Wow, I never in 10 years would have thought these words we be coming out of my mouth. Right now I feel super stunned as to what I should do next. Personally, I have moved on and I am choosing not to make time for it anymore. My next addiction would be entrecard. Even though I haven't been dropping that much I have been in meetings and have been working a lot on the admin team to get entrecard cleaned up.

As for this blog. I dont want to get rid of it. I'm not sure where I should go with it though. I think I can continue to blog about wow but, I won't be able to provide the good quality wow-a-holic side of view and be able to see the players ingame changing.

I have said my goodbyes ingame and I would really like some advice as to where I should take this next.

Just end this happily and start a new blog (but what about, idk)

Okay, Wow these last couple of days have been rather hectic.

I have been promoted to a moderator for entrecard. And since they have switched to human-manual approval their response time has gone down quite a bit. I have joined because I really really love that stuff. I love helping out communities and I do it free of charge.

As of tuesday I was promoted again to a higher rank which is still considered a moderator. (Theres only 1 admin) However now, I handle the support tickets (http://help.entrecard.com) Account and Technical Support are the two large ones.

TheGirlieGeek and I were super swarmed. I unfortunately got way over my head and totally didnt drop but 14 cards yesterday. I felt absolutely horrible. To all my religious droppers my sincere apologies go out to you. I am trying to work double hard with all of this so we can get caught back up to date and just have a few items per day.

Graham(The founder and Admin of entrecard) and I have been talking a lot about a special contest that will truly help the entrecard community. This contest will not be about subscribing, commenting, clicking, or any of the sort. You will absolutely be shocked and want to help out when it is launched.

To my droppers, thank you so much. I will resume dropping status as of tonight.

To my readers I sincerely apologize for the lack of super World of Warcraft content, I have many posts written just waiting to be published that I could have half-heartedly thrown on here but, I'd rather wait until after the contest. Please bear with me.

World of Warcraft: Instance Levels

I have recently been working on my resto shaman. Ofwhich does not easily solo quest so, I've been instance grinding a lot and decided to throw together an Outline of instance levels.

Heres a good layout of how the instances are leveled including minimum level from 1-80. :)

First off, I am only doing the 5-Man instances because the Lvl 80 end game still has some unreleased items. After they are released I will put together strategies for them.

EntreCard: My entrecard Experience

Entrecard is a blog networking website that I am rather familiar with from my past attempts at blogging. The system uses EC's (Entrecard Credits) as a virtual currency and a widget. You place a widget on your blog and register and then search for other blogs in the entrecard community to drop your card on. The widget looks like the top left square in the image to your left. You have 1-4 choices of different widget designs but the basic features are attained with this for the example.

Back to what I was saying... Finding blogs to drop on.

In the entrecard website theres a categorical search or you can just go random and find blogs with entrecard widgets so, you visit their site, drop your card and check out some of their content.

Now there is a toolbar that is still in beta however it is extremely helpful. You may only drop 1 card per blog per day. And you have a maximum limit of dropping 300 cards per day.

You recieve one EC everytime you drop a card and everytime a card gets dropped on your widget.

Now, advertising. Now that you know how to gain EC's now I will tell you all the different ways to spend them. All blogs are categorized differently and some people want to advertise in their "Niche" and some people just want to advertise everywhere. Here are some suggestions when deciding which blog to advertise on and how to see if it was worth it after all.

Open their profile.
Check out the statistics.
Their self explanatory.
Visit their blog.
Do they have frequent updates?
Where is their widget located?

Personally in my opinion dropping cards is key. There is a term referred to as "Reciprocating drops." Which means to return drops to people. Many entrecard users have cute graphics and such saying "U DROP, ..." The most popular is the "U DROP, I FOLLOW" (Derived from U COMMENT, I FOLLOW) Which to an entrecard member means that you return your drops. So, If I somehow land on your blog and drop my card and you havent dropped on my blog for that day yet that means you will return the favor. That is my dropping technique.

This blog was accepted into entrecard 6 days ago. In 6 days I have risen from a 6 popularity rating to, a 523. (Popularity Rating is calculated by measuring the amount of cards dropped on you totaled for the last 5 days.) Popularity is a key achievement. The higher your popularity the higher you are in your respected category and the more chance of your blog to be on the list of "Most Popular" under the campaign search.

Another absolute necessity for my success in entrecard is your inbox.

This is how the top part of your dashboard looks. The row of images at the top are a feed of profiles of users who have recently dropped on you. When you click the 'Drops Inbox' button you get a full page view of your inbox. This is where one of my tabs never leaves. The drops inbox page has my favorite feature...

This is my most used tool. I use this every hour or couple of hours almost. Some entrecard users use "drop lists" I dont believe in a set list that I only drop on every day. However I do start all of my dropping everyday with dropping on everyone that has dropped on me for the past day and sometimes day before that.

From there I might do a few 'Most Popular' searches in all categories using the firefox toobar. The next entrecard feature is the forum. Being in active in a forum is very helpful and can get you that extra traffic, readers, and entrecard drops. I have not covered all of the Entrecard features so, go join and check them out for yourself.

So, Saturday I was doing my usual loop that I run around Ironforge when I'm waiting on something or bored. And was about halfway through and saw the epic mage over at the Practice Dummy's. So, my space goat behind goes trotting over there and I realized her name was Hilarycriton.
I was actually really pissed off and thinking of logging when I saw this name and absolutely busted out laughing. :D I will try to have more of these weekly if not more often. Today was the first time in 4 days that I've logged on I've been so busy with life and blog networking and stuff.

World of Warcraft: 3.1 PTR - More items unveiled

Swimming Mounts... Well, I didnt see that coming at all! :)

Now we have all been hearing about Ulduar and the upcoming mobs and bosses and recently released beautiful screenshots. On the 3.1 PTR Realms Blizzard was opening the dungeon for raiding and there has been a series of severe crashes. Blizzard wanting everyone to have an oportunity to view and interact with the new content booted all players from the instance. Apparently according to WoW Insider there were many 2-Main raids being formed just to be able to view the content which rapidly reached the instance limit. However, there were a few successful groups that were able to remain in the instance.

Dual Spec's

How do you feel on the matter? There is a lot of buzz against the fact of a dual spec mainly from the non-hybrid classes. The ability that a Druid could be the raid's top healer or main tank with a flip of a switch in the instance is a life saver for raids. Some of the other buzzing is the coolness of being able to have a PvE spec and a PvP spec. I absolutely fell inlove with the idea until I saw the sinkhole of 1,000g upfront. Great way to gain some more control over the wowconomy blizz lol.

A few more neat things:

All Ground Mounts may now swim without dismounting the rider. Flying Mounts still may NOT, and will dismount the rider upon entering water.
• Ulduar is now available for limited testing. Please visit the Public Test Realms for more details. http://forums.wow-europe.com/board.html?forumId=11095&sid=1
• Players at maximum level will now be able to visit their trainer to pay a one-time fee and access the dual talent specialization feature.
• A new Gear Manager feature has been added. Players will now be able to save gear sets for easy gear switching.
• New high-resolution player textures for Northrend armor sets have been added. Players can enable this feature by setting Player Textures to High in the Effects Panel of the Video Options.
• Players can now return items purchased with an alternate currency back to the original vendor within 2 hours of the purchase time for the original cost of the item. Stackable items (such as Frozen Orbs and gems) and charged items that can be purchased with an alternate currency are not eligible.
• Confirmation boxes have been added to purchases over 150 gold.
• Copied Test Realm characters will no longer be copied with their achievement history in order to better facilitate the character copy process.

Blogging: Remodeling the page

So, I ran into this girl on the entrecard forums named Lindsay. She happened to be offering free web design reviews of your site and she would go through and help you with small remodeling items.

Here are a few key items of her review:

Its really nice how she does it because she goes from top to bottom. Which is very helpful.

"HOWEVER, you have that ad right up top, and i think that even though that is a key place for advertising, its also a key place for your views to look. I’m not going to tell you to take that advertisement down, but I think that you should choose an IMAGE adsense ad instead of the text ones."

As you can see now :) I have changed that.

I think that you should move that card down a little on the sidebar and put something that you want ALL of your viewers to see when they visit your site.I think you should put your RSS reader and your email subscribe in there. You want ALL people to subscribe right?

I decided against moving my entrecard at first. But, then I decided to go ahead seeing as my feedburner email subscription form would actually fit there.(My sidebars are too small) So, I am taking advantage of that now.

Also, i just found that clicking the “YouDrop I Follow” image brings me to photobucket. You should DEFINITELY just make that image an image and remove the link to photobucket. Its a simple HTML fix by removign the and then leave just the code. This just leaves the code for the image and removed the linking code.

I fixed that really fast lol. I didnt even think to check it and forgot that the code that photobucket does for you includes the a href tags.

You should also make the HEADERS of your posts bigger. Since you have advertisements in between your post listings, the post titles do not stand out.

Unfortunately I still cannot figure out how to change this. So, I'm going to need some guidance.

Then you have the BOTTOM of your blog. It almost looks like you gave up there, and thats NOT good because even though on the front page, the bottom of your blog is pretty far down, on your posts its right there with the comments. See, you have a bunch of stuff down there. A set of google ads, thottbot, recent views, some badges and text links. These are FINE to have in your footer, but you need to separate them from the content. Usually people use a completely different color background, or a table with a dark boarder.

I did install a table down at the bottom. I however did not decide to add a border or difference in color at all. I think it looks MUCH better than it did. And it looks cleaner to me the way it is now.

And finally, YOUR HEADER IMAGE.It could be really awesome, but it needs work. The black on black is impossible to read. The entire graphic in the center looks like it is behind a black sheet. It’s really “dim” and does not stand out. But then you have those “rivet” style round buttons on the corner that are really BRIGHT. If you can brighten the center stuff (the blog name and the graphic) then you will have a much more balanced graphic.

Quite a significant difference.

* *New Talent* Booming Echoes, Tier 8, 2 point talent - Reduces the cooldown of your Flame Shock and Frost Shock spells by an additional 1/2 sec., and increases the direct damage done by your Flame Shock and Frost Shock spells by an additional 10/20%. [Yay Frost Shock Spamzorz]

Enhancement
Skills

* Bloodlust and Heroism now puts a debuff on you preventing you from using gaining the benefits of them for 10 mins. They now have a 5 min cooldown. (Previously had a 5 min debuff with a 10 min cooldown) [Theres a PvE buff]

Talents

* Improved Stormstrike (Tier 8 ) now has a 50/100% chance to grant you 20% of your base mana when you Stormstrike. [BUFFFFFED!]
* Stormstrike (Tier 7) now affects the next 4 nature attacks but only lasts 10 secs now. (Previously only affected 2 attacks and lasted 12 secs) [Thats okay!] :)
* Unleashed Rage (Tier 6) is now a 3 point talent. It now passively increases your agility by 1/2/3% in addition to causing your critical hits with melee attacks to increase all party and raid members' attack power by 4/7/10% if within 45 yards of the Shaman. Lasts 10 sec.
* Spirit Weapons (Tier 5) now reduces all threat, just not melee threat. [:) I have a friend that shaman tanked brd as enhance with shocks and chain lightning because of this... No more... ]
* Toughness (Tier 4) now increases stamina by 2/4/6/8/10% instead of increasing armor value.
[Yay :)]
* *New Talent* Frozen Power, Tier 6, 2 point talent - Increases the damage done by your Frostbrand Weapon if it is enchanted on your main-hand weapon by 10/20%, and your Frost Shock has a 50/100% chance to root the target in Ice for 5 sec. when used on targets at or further than 15 yards from you. I recently had a instance with a player just the other day who was arguing with me about what the average age of the typical WoW player. So, I researched it a bit.

I stumbled upon this website that was doing WoW Demographics and I found out the average age of a male that plays wow is 28 and the average age of a female is 32.

World of Warcraft: Shaman Builds

Shaman.

I have gotten a shaman started up and I am now lvl 53. I have a full enhance set but I stay resto for the mere fact that I love healing and cannot fix my addiction of healing. Also, I am a kick ass healer. With totems I am insanely mana efficient. Most group runs I do are non stop until they try to test me and pull whole rooms at a time :)

I am going to list out the different specs of the shaman. Their pros and cons and most common talent tree layouts.

First off:
Elemental

Elemental is most easily compared to a balance spec druid. You still have healing spells but you gain an access to many more damaging abilities. Elemental shamans are reliant on 1. Spell Power, 2. Intellect, 3. Hit Rating, 4. Haste Rating. For pvp your going to want to also focus hard on having a lot of Stamina. However, pve its not that important.

My personal Pick for specing elemental is: 52/19/0
Which is also the most common.

Enhancement

Enhancement is also easily compared to the druid's feral spec. Also known as the melee spec. Enhance Shamans are referred to as Cardboard Dragons. They wear mail which is slightly harder than leather and they dual wield one handed weapons. They as a spec have a lot of capability to do a lot of dps. Its dependant first of all on player skill and second of all on your gear having the correct stats bolded. Enhancement shamans are reliant on 1. Strength, 2. Agility, 3. Hit Rating, 4. Haste Rating.

My personal choice for enhancement is: 17/54/0

Restoration

Restoration is most easily compared to the druid resto spec but can also be compared to: Holy Paladins and Holy Priests. This, like many other healer specs is not meant for damage. Even remotely. Shamans are quite possibly the most efficient healers in the game. Atleast mana-wise. I believe resto druids are the most efficient healers as being able to heal a certain amount with heal over time spells combined with straight heals. Anyhow my shaman is unfortunately only lvl 53 so, I am in brd and I think I've maybe actually had to drink to get my mana back maybe once or twice out of 10-12 runs. Especially if theres a paladin. Blessing of Wisdom + Water Shield + Mana Totem = Efficiency.

Hello my name is Andy and my world of warcraft ingame name is Jawsome. :)

I am 19 years old and I am engaged with a 21 Month old son. My fiance's name is Nikki and she plays WoW (World of warcraft) also. We have many adventures together including leveling, grinding, questing, raiding, ganking, and pvp-ing(Player vs. Player) we have made many friends in the game and play with them often. Some of which will be guest writing on our blog here. (I hope) :)

So, the game world of warcraft isnt enough to just do on its own. What do you do while you play? Personally I do a few things... Listen to music, talk on ventrilo (a popular online voice chat program that runs behind wow and a lot of players use it instead of or also with the ingame user interface chat mainly because its much much easier and quicker to just shout something out than it is to type it.) What kind of music do I like? Well, I have been in many phases and currently I am coming out of a Chopped and Screwed gangster rap phase and I am falling into a full techno phase. My latest download-a-palooza can be found here. I still have yet to get all of the way through them and ended up just putting the whole collection on my ipod and its taken me 6 days to listen to 1096 songs (including my previous library being mixed in.)

What is your favorite thing to do ingame? My favorite thing of all time is to pvp. Whether it be against people my level in whats called a battleground or if its out in the world. And I especially get a kick out of ganking (killing lower level players for fun). I gain nothing in the game. But, I gain so much ego outside of the game =P Its so worth my waste of time :D

How did you get started playing world of warcraft? Well, many years ago my friend and I were playing the rpg "Final Fantasy" and we played VII through X-2 and were wondering about a Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) and it came out to be a mmorpg. So, I played that for a looong time and got to the end game content playing on a PS2 with a 60gb harddrive. It got old seeing as there was no pvp implemented yet and I was drawing less and less fun out of the game. My friend quit and so did I. We didnt play any games for a long time. I was in middle school and some of my friends played the game Runescape which is a free web browser based mmorpg and I then got into it. Began excelling and became a member (their premiere service) and it also got old even with pvp. My friend and I hadnt really talked much during this time and he got a beta key for World of warcraft from his gaming insider vip friend. He boasted about how it was the total shit. Months after the release he coaxed me into trying it. And the rest is history. I have been through many realms (servers) transferring from one to another. Joining guilds, making friends, leveling. Then I got tired of my character and my original choices in starting the class and race I made and looked into selling or trading my account for something I'd like more. That was the beginning of a horrible online account buying, selling, trading, stealing, scaming addiction frenzy. I eventually lost it all, and started completely over a whole expansion later.

We have to pass all of those to be able to join the entrecard community which is a humongous blogging community. So, lets strive for that! :)
