What is a mind map and what are its uses and how does it benefit us. Tony Buzan, the originator of Mind Mapping, explains concept of mind-mapping in this small video of about 6 minutes. For the impatient, I am giving very 2 lines short introduction to mind maps:

Wikipedia introduces the definition as:

Mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks or other items linked to and arranged around a central key word or idea. Mind maps are used to generate, visualize, structure and classify ideas as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, decision making and writing.

ImindMap.com says:

Visit www.iMindMap.com for more information. Tony Buzan is the inventor of Mind Maps, the revolutionary thinking tool used by over 250 million people to help them unleash their mental potential. He is the world’s leading authority on the brain, learning and memory. His multi-million copy best selling books are available in 100 countries in 30 languages. He lectures worldwide and acts as a consultant to multi-national companies, governments, and athletes. He has recently launched the world’s first official mind mapping software tool – iMindMap.

One can take two approaches in this scenario:
1.	Sit and wait for something to happen, perhaps layoff or salary cut.
2.	Getup, move ahead, embrace new skills and opportunities and create new earning opportunities for you....

Ask anyone who is doing a job and you see the same single question on the face of the individuals: What to do when recession is still ruthlessly hitting the job market. The job shedding rates are increasing alarmingly. Wallstreet Journal reported a loss of 6,63,000 more jobs in March, which is the highest unemployment rate level since 1983. Here I’m presenting some ideas to fight with the recession. These may be useful for all who are in job.

The deepening labor-market contraction brought job losses for the recession to 5.1 million, with two-thirds of the cuts coming since November, the Labor Department said. The jobless rate jumped to 8.5% from 8.1% — and many forecasters expect it to top 10% by later this year.

U.S. employers shed 663,000 jobs in March, pushing the nation’s unemployment rate to its highest level since 1983 and casting a shadow over recent signs of a stabilizing economy.”

One can take two approaches in this scenario:

Sit and wait for something to happen, perhaps layoff or salary cut.

Getup, move ahead, embrace new skills and opportunities and create new earning opportunities for you.

Clearly, second option is not difficult but its tough, because you really need to break your comfort zone. Everyone likes to live in his or her own comfort zone and getting out of it is really difficult. Those who dare to do so, come out to be winners. Dig your well before you feel thirsty. So, what are you waiting for, just go ahead and follow any or all of the steps below:

Gain some expertise in any new language like Spanish, French etc. Who knows you may start up in tourism and travel industry.

Be a master of web languages like PHP, Python, J2EE, .Net, HTML, CSS and the list is endless.

If you think you can sell things then enter affiliated marketing.

Start your own website or blog.

Write a lot of good unique and useful stuff for your visitors.

Solve users’ problems in your domain. Just Google the problems in your field of expertise and you’ll be amazed to know how many people are facing problems for which you may be the answers.

Read the books you were longing for, but could not do so because of lack of time.

Join some social networking sites and write on those sites.

If you think you can go for transcription sort of things, you can go for health care industry and earn your fortunes. This is the only industry unaffected from slump. Medical transcription is good choice.

See what Seth Godin the marketing guru writes:

1. Learn something. Become an expert. For free, using nothing but time, you can become a master of CSS or HTML or learn Python. You can hit the library and read the entire works of important authors, or you can borrow some books from a friend and master Analytics or discover case studies and corporate histories that will be invaluable in a year. You could learn to become fluent in Spanish…
2. Earn a following and reputation. Use social networking tools to connect to people for no good reason. Post tons of useful answers on discussion boards where your expertise is valued. Build a permission asset in the form of an email newsletter or a fascinating blog that people want to read. Do resume makeovers for 100 friends. Start a neighborhood or industry book group. Don’t go to conventions, earn the right to speak at them.

If you were as serious about these two endeavors as you are about doing your job (eight hours a day on a slow day), imagine how much more powerful and in demand you’ll be a year from now.
Beats the alternative, by far.

If even a single reader can benefit from this article, I’ll think that writing this article is really successful. What are you waiting for. Go ahead. Opportunities and fortunes are waiting for you.

Never underestimate your Clients’ complaints, no matter how funny they might seem!

This is a real story that happened between a customer of General Motors and its Customer-Care Executive. Pls read on…..

A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors.

“This is the second time I have written to you, and I don’t blame you for not answering me, because I sounded crazy, but it is a fact that we have a tradition in our family of having ice-cream for dessert after dinner each night, but the kind of ice cream varies. Every night, after we’ve eaten, the whole family votes on which kind of ice cream we should have, and I drive down to the store to get it. It’s also a fact that I recently purchased a new Pontiac and since then my trips to the store have created a problem…..

You see, every time I buy a vanilla ice-cream, when I start back from the store my car won’t start. If I get any other kind of ice-cream, the car starts just fine. I want you to know I’m serious about this question, no matter how silly it sounds. What is there about a Pontiac
that makes it not start when I get vanilla ice-cream and easy to start whenever I get any other kind?”

The Pontiac President was understandably skeptical about the letter, but sent an Engineer to check it out anyway.

The latter was surprised to be greeted by a successful, obviously well-educated man in a fine neighborhood. He had arranged to meet the man just after dinner time, so the two hopped into the car and drove to the ice-cream store. It was vanilla ice-cream that night and, sure enough,
after they came back to the car, it wouldn’t start. The Engineer returned for three more nights. The first night, they got chocolate. The car started. The second night, he got strawberry. The car started. The third night he ordered vanilla. The car failed to start.

Now the Engineer, being a logical man, refused to believe that this man’s car was allergic to vanilla ice-cream. He arranged, therefore, to continue his visits for as long as it took to solve the problem. And toward this end he began to take notes: He jotted down all sorts of
data: Time of day, type of gas used, time to drive back and forth etc.

In a short time, he had a clue: The man took less time to buy vanilla than any other flavor. Why? The answer was in the layout of the store. Vanilla, being the most popular flavor, was in a separate case at the front of the store for quick pickup. All the other flavors were kept in
the back of the store at a different counter where it took considerably longer to check out the flavor.

Now, the question for the Engineer was why the car wouldn’t start when it took less time. Eureka – Time was now the problem – not the vanilla ice-cream!!!!

The engineer quickly came up with the answer: “Vapor Lock”.

It was happening every night; but the extra time taken to get the other flavors allowed the engine to cool down sufficiently to start. When the man got vanilla, the engine was still too hot for the Vapor Lock to dissipate.

Even crazy-looking problems are sometimes real and all problems seem to be simple only when we find the solution, with cool thinking.

Don’t just say it is ” IMPOSSIBLE” without putting a sincere effort….

Observe the word “IMPOSSIBLE” carefully…

Looking closer, you will see, ” I’M POSSIBLE”…

*The story has been presented for the entertainment and educational purpose for readers and we don't undertake any responsibility for the correctness of the facts presented in this story.

80/20 Principle is terrific. An Italian Vilfredo Pareto who lived from 1823 to 1923 was the first one to demonstrate the 80/20 rule. According to him the minority of events cause major results. He stated the principle of Least Efforts. His rules are known as Pareto Law or Pareto Principle and by many other names.

He was analyzing the distribution patterns of wealth and income in England. An important conclusion of his discovery was that, the majority of income and wealth was with minority of people. Analyzing further he came to know that wealth distribution was imbalanced not only in England but in whole of the world. Digging out further he found that, this imbalance existed everywhere in the world. Means not only in economy but in every sphere of life.

Six Sigma also uses this theory. This rule is also used in Six Sigma to improve quality and decrease number of defect by controlling minority of parameters. This kind of analysis is also called Pareto Analysis.

The subconscious mind contains deeper but consciously forgotten memories. It generates certain behaviors in human beings which decide the personality of anyone.

The power of human mind
Human mind has been very powerful since the ages began, but the powers remain untapped due to ignorance towards the subject. The human mind has unlimited potential.

Your mind can create anything desired. The only requirement is to understand the proper working of your mind.

Levels of mind
Although human mind appears to works as a single unit, but as per psychologists there are different levels upon which human mind operates. The levels have been defined according to the consciousness level of mind.
The main levels defined for human mind going from highest are:
1. Super-Conscious.
2. Intuitive.
3. Conscious.
4. Pre-Conscious.
5. Subconscious.
6. Unconscious.

The super conscious is free from words and conveys to other levels of mind using intuitions. It’s the highest level of consciousness of mind.
Intuitive mind is also non-verbal and it relates scattered information to create a whole picture.
The conscious level is the one in which we are living normally. Its verbal in nature. It can think, act and analyze the situations. Its left brain oriented in nature. Majority of life runs through this conscious level only.
Pre-Conscious mind is like long term memory. We can remember the things but can’t analyze at the same time.
The subconscious mind contains deeper but consciously forgotten memories. It generates certain behaviors in human beings which decide the personality of anyone. Any suggestions which were once given consciously(although forgotten), come out in the form of personality.
Unconscious mind is never brought to conscious level. For bringing to conscious level we have to take the help of hypnotism. Otherwise its not possible. Its has the basic functionalities which nature has provided for the survival of human beings.

Subconscious Mind
Our subconscious and conscious minds play major role in shaping our life. So our primary focus will remain subconscious mind.

Functions of subconscious mind
The subconscious mind acts as translator to the conscious mind. The conscious mind takes its input from our five senses. Whatever we speak and think consciously, that acts as input to the subconscious mind. Subconscious mind records every thought it receives from the conscious mind. It can not and therefor does not reason whether the thought is good, bad or even absurd. It simply acts upon those thoughts to turn those into reality. As soon as it receives any thought from conscious mind, it immediately starts to act upon those thoughts. Its tremendously powerful.

Your Subconscious Works Non-Stop!!!
Your subconscious mind works non-stop. It is never at rest. Its always busy in creating your reality. Here are some of the functions which your subconscious mind performs:
1. It fully controls the respiratory system.
2. It fully controls the heart-beat activity.
3. It controls your digestive system process.
4. And last but not the least it acts upon your ideas.

Law of Belief
The law of life is belief. Our whole life is governed around our belief system.
The power of belief makes our subconscious work towards whatever we believe.

Subconscious is the mirror of life
The subconscious is the mirror of your life. You experience your thoughts, beliefs, opinions and theories are the manifestations of circumstances, conditions, and events which have happened in your life. The inside changes reflect outside.

The input to your subconscious is the output of your life
As per William James, the father of American Psychology, subconscious mind is having infinite wisdom and is in union with the universal intelligence. Subconscious is extremely powerful. Whatever you input to your subconscious is turned as the output of whole of your life. So it must be impressed with the right ideas.

How to get the subconscious working for you
Here are some ideas to make subconscious working for you in your favour. Realize that its always working. It never gets tired. But the whole process is silent and can’t be perceived consciously. To make subconscious work for you, you don’t have to deal with subconscious mind. The whole thing is to keep your conscious mind busy to expect the results you want. Simply believe that rest of everything will be taken care of by the subconscious mind itself. Its omnipotent and will bring about anything to your expectations.

Controlling your subconscious mind
If you want to experience the fullness of life and change it, you need to change the conditioning of your subconscious mind. For that you have to take control of your subconscious mind. Simply believe in the Success Tools and follow certain procedures to alter your limiting beliefs.Whatever comes to your conscious mind that passes to your subconscious mind. The simplest way to do this is to take in a new idea. Let idea be your life. Day and night think about that only idea. That way that idea starts sipping in your subconscious mind. Hence your conscious mind will be used to control your conscious mind.

Tools to control subconscious mind
There are four tools you can use to control your subconscious mind. These help to assimilate the idea in your subconscious mind.
Tools to use are:
1. Your wording.
2. Your visualization.
3. Your auditory senses.
4. Your kinesthetic senses.

You know enough about wordings. Let’s talk about other tools.
Creative visualization lets you consciously attract what you want. Just see the images in your mind. It’s a powerful way to condition your subconscious mind to attract, what you want. As a part of creative visualization you can use your auditory and kinesthetic senses.

Using auditory senses means to use sounds and words along with your imagination. Try to listen to every minute detail of your mental images. This helps even more to enforce the power of visualization.

Using kinesthetic senses lets you use your emotions and feelings in your imagination. Here your emotions play a dominant part.

These tools are different for different people. Because all are different, so everyone requires different sets of tools. If someone is good at imagination, visualization will work best for that person. If someone like to listen the things, then auditory senses utilization will work best for that one. If some people like to feel the things, for them kinesthetic senses involvement will do the magic.

Affirmations are positive statements which are getting popular these days for self improvement. If repeated enough number of times over a long period, these leave a positive deeper impact on your personality and can create whatever you believe. For these to work for you, you need to follow a proper system which I am gonna describe in fairy detail.

Before I go further, I need to explain what the characteristics of affirmations are.

What are affirmations

Affirmations are usually short statements and fulfill two conditions simultaneously:

These describe situations as here and now.

These must be either true or false.

Here are some good examples of affirmations:

I am strong.

I am week.

I am powerful.

I am dumb.

I am not good.

I am not powerful.

Everyday in everyway I am getting better and better.

If you look upon the above statements these are all either true or false and are describing the situations as here and now. The ones using the words no, not etc are sometimes referred to as negative affirmations and rest are positive affirmations or simply affirmations. The following sentences don’t qualify as affirmations:

Am I not good?

Am I rich?

What are affirmations?

I was strong.

A quick look upon the above sentences will tell that these are not describing situations as here and now and are not either true or false. Now that we have the clear cut definition of affirmations. Let’s talk about our mind.

Two Minds

As per psychology our mind is divided in two parts: conscious and subconscious. The conscious mind is responsible for reasoning and thinking. It’s limited in its capacity. On the other hand subconscious mind is extremely powerful. But it lacks reasoning ability. Besides it can’t think and apply logic.

How your minds work

Your subconscious mind can create anything you ask it to do. Now questions which usually come to your mind are:

What is hindering the subconscious from doing its job?

Why are my wishes not granted?

What’s the ultimate problem?

Well here is the catch. Just for your safety, nature always puts some safeguards to the sources of power. Here also nature has provided a cap on your subconscious. That cap is your conscious mind. Yes your own conscious mind. Conscious mind acts as a guard to your subconscious. It filters any information before sending it to the subconscious. Subconscious mind’s sole job is to acts upon the commands given.Subconscious will create anything which it believes and it believes whatever is believed by conscious mind. How are the commands given to the subconscious:

By making our conscious mind to believe something.

By giving commands directly to subconscious without the knowledge of conscious mind. In that case it believes whatever it’s told.

By making conscious mind ignore the commands through repetition.

Here is what happens when you hear or repeat a command enough number of times. Either your conscious mind will believe those commands or it will ignore them. In both of the cases the commands reach your subconscious and it starts acting upon them. The results? Astonishingly real. You are what you want.Unfortunately we have been taught to live in limited world frame since our childhood. We have said or heard the following statements infinite number of times and believed these during the course of our life. The examples are:

I am very week.

You can never succeed in life.

You are damn duffer.

You are of no value.

You always fail.

As a result are not you week and failure? May be some of you say yes.But here is good side to the above system as well. You can use the knowledge of working of subconscious mind to your favor. Simply reverse the process. Until now you would have been thinking negative. Now think in reverse direction. Think positive and that also repeatedly. See next paragraph. Effect of Repetitions

If you repeat any affirmation a number of times say 40-50 times a day and continue to do so for enough number of days, your conscious mind will either believe the facts or starts ignoring them.

In both of the cases the subconscious mind acts. As an example when you start repeating something like “I am powerful”, your conscious mind will not believe it the very first time. Second time again and so on. After a few days your conscious mind starts ignoring/believing your command and subconscious gets these messages directly, non-filtered. So, now what happens, your subconscious mind believes what you say and starts its work on the commands. After some time your subconscious mind starts giving you results and after seeing results your conscious mind starts believing with logics derived from your results shown by subconscious. Now, as the conscious starts believing, it opens the gates to your subconscious. And the process skyrockets like a nuclear chain reaction.

Putting affirmations to work

Now, surely you would like to use affirmations for making progress in your life. Here is step by step guide to do so.

Decide upon your goal

First you decide upon any area of life in which you want to progress. That will be your primary goal. It can be related to your family, society, knowledge quest, money, health, spiritual needs. Or it can be anyhting you want.

Write your affirmations

Now simply write your affirmations somewhere. It’s recommended to write these on some card which you can keep in your pocket or wallet. 3X5 inches is ideal. Write your affirmation as if you have already achieved your goal. Affirmations are always so. These are the declarations that you have already achieved your goal. For example you want a complete hormony in your family, write your affirmation like: “I have perfect family harmony.”. Or if you want success, you can write, “I am always successful.”. This step is a must. To help you choose your affirmations you can use the predefine affirmations in this site.

Repeat your affirmations often

You are done with writing your affirmations on cards. Now, its your job to make your subconscious believe that you have achieved your goal. For that go for repetitions. See the card as many times as possible during your day time. It should be 40-50 times a day. First few days your conscious would be repulsive. You will think that its silly to do it. But soon your conscious mind will start ignoring it. That’s the point. Now subconscious will take on hereafter. You simply go on repeating affirmations.

Visualize your goal often

Visualization is also important factor in achieving your goal. To make your progress more effective try to visualize your goal 1-2 times a day. Visualization directs your subconscious mind to actualize your experience during visualization. Visualization should be as vivid as possible. The more effectively you visualize, the easier it becomes to achieve your goal.

Life in recent times has become very busy. For that reason people are not finding much time to relax. Your body is like a machine which needs to stop occasionally for delivering peak performance. Without relaxation human body deteriorates and looses its vitality very soon.

Mind body connection
Our body and mind are interconnected. These work as supplement to each other. If either of these is stressed out, the other one does not work properly. Under stressed conditions we can’t perform at our best.

Relaxation as an art
According to swami Sivananda, relaxation is an art in itself and one should know how to relax. It’s not a state in which one only sleeps doing nothing. How relaxation is done, that also matters. During rest state of mind also matters. That determines the quality of rest. One can rest better if the mind is cool and calm at the time of rest.

Benefits of relaxing
The benefits of relaxation are tremendous. Relaxation allows mental faculties to enjoy the bliss of one’s own nature. Some of the benefits are listed below:

Mind and body both deliver peak performance.

One develops an integrated personality.

Concentration and productivity improve a lot.

You become your best and tap your real potential.

You achieve mental clarity and will power.

Your health improves dramatically.

You become more relaxed, calm and spiritual and relieved of all the tension.

Your performance skyrockets.

And you become what you are in reality and meant to be.

Relaxation Techniques
Various techniques of relaxation are available. I’ll write a few to make you aware of all the process. I am listing below the techniques:

Lying in corpse posture and concentrating on each and every body part. This is referred to as Savasana in Indian Yoga.

Doing some physical exercises like aerobics and yoga. Some times a little jogging or walk does that.

Doing deep breathing exercises. These are referred to as Pranayama in yoga.

Doing some meditation.

Listening to your favorite music.

Reading you favorite book or going through spiritual literature.

Enjoying time to accomplish your hobbies.

And the list continues…

Relaxing Step by Step
For relaxing you simply have to set apart 15 to 20 minutes a day. That’s enough to make you aware of the tremendous benefits of relaxation listed in this article. I am going to describe you the technique called ‘Savasana’ or ‘Lying like a corpse’. Nothing in my opinion is as effective as this exercise and it helps to rejuvenate your mind and body within no time. You are going to need the following things with you:

A calm place may be the roof of your home.

A mat or blanket on which you’ll lay.

15-20 minutes undisturbed. That’s absolutely necessary.

That’s all you are going to need.
While relaxing, have the feeling of let go. Also all the affirmations should be repeated mentally.

The technique is described as below:

Lie down flat on floor.

Stretch your legs on floor and hands opened and positioned by your legs.

Close your eyes and imagine that relaxation wave is there like clouds.

Now imagine that, these clouds are approaching towards your feet and repeat the sentences in your mind as I write in the next steps.

The clouds are entering my feet. My feet are now more relaxed and full of energy.

Now these relaxation waves are entering my legs. My legs are more relaxed and full of energy. I let go of all the tension in my muscles.

Now these relaxation waves are entering my thighs. My thighs are relaxing more and are full of energy now. My body is getting limp.

Now the energy waves have entered in my lower belly and revitalizing my lower belly and lower back. All of my body below is now fully relaxed.

Now the energy waves are entering my tummy and I am relaxing even more.

Now the waves are entering my chest. My chest is very relaxed and full of energy.

These clouds are entering my neck. My neck is now very relaxed. All of the stiffness is gone.

Now these waves are entering my mouth and head. Now my whole body is relaxed. I am totally energetic.

Now these waves are crossing my head. Fresh waves are entering my feet and used waves are leaving my head. I am fully relaxed now. My mind is calm. I am in total bliss. I am really very relaxed. I am now full of energy, pep and power.

After remaining in this condition for about 10 minutes, open your eyes and move your body slowly and slowly. You will feel very relaxed and rejuvenated. While performing all the above steps, you will feel the warmth spread in your body. This shows that relaxation is working.
Also you can add your own affirmations to your relaxation technique. You simply tweak the technique as you want as per your own needs. Within 2-3 days you will start feeling all the benefits listed in this article.

Simply keep on practicing to see the tremendous benefits of daily relaxation process. Within few days you would like to continue it for the rest of your life. Happy Relaxing.

What is hypnosis
Hypnosis is the sleep like mental state in which a person’s thoughts can be easily influenced by someone else. During and after hypnosis the changes in the emotions and sensations can be noticed about the subject. Hypnotic state is also called Trance state. During hypnosis our conscious mind is asleep or about to sleep. The messages or instructions go directly to the subconscious mind.

What is self-hypnosis?
Normally hypnosis is induced by a qualified hypnotist. But when its induced by the person herself then its called self-hypnosis. Daydreaming is also a kind of self-hypnosis.
During this process we are so called conscious but we don’t know about the outer world.

Hypnosis in everyday life
It’s difficult to believe but its true that you go into hypnotic state at least two times a day. One is in the night just before going into sleep. That is the time when you are about to sleep but still have not slept. It can be termed as drowsy state. The other is in the morning when you are about to wake up but have not as yet. During these two times you are not fully slept or awake but somewhere in between.

What happens during Hypnosis
Normally any suggestions to the brain are filtered by your conscious mind. But during hypnosis the suggestions bypass conscious mind and go straight to the subconscious mind. The subconscious accepts these suggestions and starts working immediately upon these suggestions.

Applications of Self-hypnosis
Self-Hypnosis can be successfully applied to these very areas of human life as listed below:

Reducing stress in life.

Building self-confidence.

Treating phobias or manias.

Helping people stop smoking.

Acquiring new skills and abilities.

Reducing pain during surgery.

Achieving life purpose.

And so on…..

Can anybody be hypnotized?
No, not really. Nobody can hypnotize anybody without the will of the subject.
Before hypnotizing you the hypnotist has to take your permission. Until you believe the person who is going to hypnotize you, he can’t have your control.

Going in Hypnosis
We all possess the natural ability to go into trance state. You have seen the example in the heading “Hypnosis in everyday life”. The capability varies from person to person. Even the experiences also vary from person to person. With little practice and patience, anyone can learn how to go in trance. Just don’t force it to work for you.

Affirmations to include before entering trance
Now whatever do you want from self-hypnosis you can include that in the form of affirmation before entering hypnosis. I am giving you examples. For example, you want to develop self-confidence. You can choose any affirmation related with self-confidence and then state as follows:
“As I come out of my self-hypnotic state, I’ll be more confident than ever. I would have developed more confidence”. etc. etc. You can use any affirmations. For more examples of affirmations you can refer to the examples of affirmations on this site.

A WORD OF CAUTION
Before you go into self-hypnosis, just state the following affirmation to you three times:
“As I put myself in trance state, I am perfectly safe and secure. In any emergency, I’ll come out of this trance easily and will be able to do again as and when I desire. After XX minutes I’ll come out of this state automatically without any loss, harm or disadvantage”.
Expressing the time is of absolute necessity or you may slip to comma state as well.

Steps to go in Trance state
Now the thing is to go from waking state to the dream like state.
Here are the steps you can follow to enter trance state:

Lie down flat or sit in some comfortable chair.

Look between your eyebrows or at some point higher than your head.

Start breathing deeply, possibly from your bellows. The breathing should be slow and deep.

Keep on staring at the chosen point.

After few minutes your eyes want to close. Don’t stress to keep them open.

Let your eyes close and with every breath you exhale, exhale your tensions of body and mind. Just let go of everything. Don’t force yourself to keep anything in your control.

Keep your breathing regular but slow and start chanting your affirmations in mind.

Let the feeling of warmth spread in your whole body.

That’s it. Enjoy for some time. After spending some time in trance state slowly come out of that state.
