As Katharine Hepburn said, “If you obey all the rules you miss all the fun.”

Accessories are what turn an outfit into fashion. They are no longer an extra; they are a narrative that can transform last season’s outfit into the most stunning and fashionable in the room today. On the Fashion scene, a change in season usually brings change to your whole wardrobe while trends in fashion accessories don’t necessarily appear one season only to disappear the next. Sometimes trends can last several seasons. This edition of “Fashion Bytes” shows you the various trends in accessories and how to keep you au currant this fall and into 2010. Listen in to Tori Blackhart and see if you can catch the 4 strongest, must have fashion trends this season that are applicable to each accessory category. Then be sure and check your closet and drawers, you may already have some of these trendy items on hand!

Be sure and “Yak Bak” to us by clicking on the Join the Discussion button; let us know what you have found in your drawers or closet that is relevant again this season! Post your comments or your favorite accessories tips – what you post may be just what someone else is looking for. And as always, we love listener suggestions as to topics you’d like us to cover in a Fashion Byte.

Power to the people! That has been both a political rallying cry and a song by John Lennon (released in 1971) but it also epitomizes the trend of fashion design that comes from the people and trickles up to the fashion houses. Listen in as host Tori Blackhart takes you on a journey that showcases how the people have influenced the fashions of today, and during the past, instead of the fashion houses alone decreeing what was in style. A special stop on this journey is Woodstock, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month. Ripped jeans and tie-dyed shirts were the order of the day and a look at some of the styles today reveal the same thing. People Rule!

We invite you to click on the Join the Discussion button to add your comments and questions about fashion, style and trends. And hey, give us your reflections on Woodstock fashion. Do you still have a tie-dyed shirt hiding in your closet?

Our thanks to our sponsor:
Fred Migliore, host of FM Odyssey, the long-running nationally syndicated radio show, has done it again with the special Woodstock 40th Anniversary program. The show brilliantly weaves together the music, the times and the politics of Woodstock. Fred is joined by legendary NY radio personality, Pete Fornatale, who’s new book “Back To The Garden” provides incredible insight to this show.
During that interview, Fred engaged Dan in a wonderful, animated conversation about Dan’s first 25 years in the music business. You will hear 13 full-length songs, including “Same Old Lang Syne,” “Nether Lands,” “The Last Nail,” and “Mountains To The Sea,” as well as Dan’s thoughts on many of those songs.

This 2-CD Collector’s Edition is available for $29.95 at FModyssey.com

Three dollars from each CD sold will go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in Dan’s name.

It may still be summer and you may be sweltering with the heat, looking for a way to cool off, but as backward as it may sound, now is the time to browse the sales to build your Fall wardrobe. You’ll find that clothing stores will have sales on both last season’s fall and winter clothes as well as sales and specials on the new Fall merchandise now hitting the racks. It’s not always easy to think about sweaters or jackets when the temperature is in the 90’s, but hey, the stores are air conditioned – a great place to cool off! – and every Frugal/Budget Fashionista or Recessionista knows that the best way to score a great deal is in off season shopping!

In this issue of FashionBytes, Tori Blackhart gives you tips on some of the Fall trends available now, both in shops and online, as well as some items to keep an eye out for that will update your wardrobe this fall and winter. Listen and find out how “casual dressing grows up.”
