<li><a href="http://www.danecellars.com/" title="The goal of Dane Cellars is to work with vineyards that are special and to spotlight their unique characteristics. My job as the winemaker is to pay attention to the vineyard, the fruit and to the wine as it ages. To monitor the vineyard and the wines without interfering with its natural progression. At Dane Cellars, our approach to winemaking champions quality at every stage of the process. From our partnerships with the finest vineyards to the hand made French and American oak cooperage used to age our small-lot Zinfandel’s and Cabernet Sauvignon’s, we bring together an array of artisan and cutting-edge techniques to create benchmark wines. In the cellar I take my years of experience and knowledge to apply a consistent winemaking style that allows me to find the uniqueness of each vineyard and vintage, while achieving exceptional quality. ">Dane Cellars [link]</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.merlove.com/" title="Merlove is a documentary celebrating Merlot wine in response to the movie Sideways. Have the courage to embark on your own wine adventure. Merlove will help you learn more about wine, but it is your own experience that will guide your personal journey. As you try new wines you will gain love and appreciation for the gifts that wine can bring. Like anything in life, wine can be enjoyed and enhanced by sharing it with others. The bottom line is good wine is good wine and bad wine is bad wine, but that should not stop the adventure. The message of Merlove is that no single grape varietal should be singled out as superior or inferior to others. Enjoy as we interweave documentary style filmmaking with the animation of a bottle of Merlot wine named 'Merlove' who must find a way to fill itself with love when aimlessly tossed into the ocean of mediocre Merlot wine. We want people to know that Merlot is ready to be loved again by all and remember that every vintage has a new story to tell...">Merlove [link]</a></li>

<li><a href="http://lusciouslushes.com/" title="I am a software jockey by day, although I do it without code and presently without a paycheck. By night, I am a Wine Brat, who seeks to try new wines and expand her palate by drinking as much good wine as possible. My blog is a conversation. It is not a dictatorship. That being said, my blog is MY BLOG. It is not your blog. What I write about may not be what you write about; you may not agree with what I write about. That’s ok! That’s the point of the conversation. When I started my blog, it was born out of my love of all things wine, and my desire to share information with other people. For almost a year, I had a mailing list that I would send out monthly event emails to, which included great wines I discovered, as well as upcoming wine events in the bay area. That is the primary focus of my blog, with more and more effort spent learning and discussing about new iwnes as well as the impact of social media on the wine industry.">Thea&#8217;s blog [link]</a></li>
<li><a href="http://pc.ign.com/objects/032/032516.html" title="From plant to pick to press to pour, run your very own French vineyard in Wine Tycoon. Create the vineyard of your dreams in 10 of the most important wine regions of France. Commanding operations from your very own French chateau, you must build your winery, plant and tend your vines through all four seasons of the year, and hire staff to harvest and process your grapes. Produce 50 French wines such as Bordeaux, Burgundy, Pinot Gris and Champagne from more than 40 different grape varietals, all in the ultimate goal of becoming a wealthy wine baron. In Wine Tycoon, as in reality, each wine region has its own unique style and flavor, not only in appearance, but also in the different traditional grape varieties grown and the wines made. The two levels of game play -- Career and Free Play, both with a tutorial for those who want it -- allow players to patiently develop their gaming and wine-making skills, or roll up their sleeves and jump right in with just the funds to start a vineyard from scratch. From your chateau hub in Wine Tycoon, you must manage operations at other locations around the vineyard, such as at the fermentation building and the bottling plant. Wine Tycoon also features an interesting and informative bonus Wine Encyclopedia with a glossary of wine terms and concise descriptions of French wines, grape varieties and wine regions.">Wine Tycoon [link]</a></li>

They also announce the winner of the dog naming contest, the Randall Grahm book giveaway, and of course the next installment of Hardy Wallace, Murphy-Goode Wine Country Lifestyle Correspondent!Share This

<p>Kaz and Randy give some initial ideas for finding a wine-related name for a <a href="http://twitter.com/essguy">listener</a>&#8217;s dog! <a href="http://twitter.com/randallgrahm">Randall Grahm</a> talks with your favorite hosts to discuss his new book, <a href="http://www.beendoonsolong.com/"><em>Been Doon So Long</em></a>! <a href="http://twitter.com/pmabray">Paul Mabray</a> idles in the live chat while they quickly review his recent Palate Press article (<a href="http://palatepress.com/2009/10/vintank-analyzes-wine-iphone-apps/">Part 1</a> and <a href="http://palatepress.com/2009/10/wine-iphone-apps-the-top-five/">Part 2</a>) rating of wine-related iPhone apps! It&#8217;s all that and more!</p>
<p>For a chance to win some of Kaz&#8217;s wine, you need to do the following: <em>Comment on <strong>this episode</strong>, leaving your best attempt at a clever wine-related name for a dog.</em> The listener who sent this idea in will select the winner, who will apparently also get some smoked pheasant for his or her dog-naming skills. The winner will be selected at next week&#8217;s recording session, so you have until <strong>Midnight, October 13</strong>!</p>
<p>For a chance to win a copy of Randall Grhm&#8217;s book, <em>Been Doon So Long</em>, you need to do the following: <em>Leave a comment <strong>on this episode</strong> describing why you should win, or what Bonny Doon Vineyard means to you, or how sexy or goofy Randall is, or pretty much anything at all (including entries for the dog-naming above).</em> We will randomly pick a winner, who will get the book shipped to them and Randy&#8217;s expense! Again, you have until <strong>Midnight, October 13</strong> to get your comment posted!</p>
<p><small>Fine Print: One entry per email address/account. Sponsors, employees and hosts of THMM/KSVY, employees of Kaz Winery, and employees of VOM Productions are not eligible to win. <li><a href="http://girlwithaglass.com/blog/" title="Gun Bun - Everyone’s Favorite There is a winery in the trees behind Sonoma Plaza named Gundlach Bundschu, the locals call it Gun Bun. It has a great history that is well-worth reading about on their web site. Gun Bun is very popular because there’s something for everyone. I find the terrior fascinating and the atmosphere at the winery is always fun and festive. The two brothers, Jeff &amp; Jim Bundschu have a sense of humor that infiltrates their many events, e.g., outdoor rock concerts, costume parties, polka dances, Bavarian sing-a-longs…even if you just take a tour, you’ll learn a little song/dance routine that will help you pronounce and remember the winery’s name. There’s a lovely little patio overlooking the pond, and a large picnic area for big groups, so it’s an ideal place to visit in good weather. <li><a href="http://www.cyclesgladiator.com//index.cfm" title="About Cycles Gladiator Americans then might have been shocked by the thought of a woman wearing pantaloons or bloomers pedaling a bicycle, but the French understood what sold products—thus the 'uninhibited' appearance of the Cycles Gladiator advertising poster. Cycles Gladiator symbolizes a celebration of the freedom and happiness that pervaded Europe in the late 19th century—an era known as the Belle Epoque. This era marked many notable inventions and improvements to daily life, not the least of which was the modern bicycle or Le Bicycle Velocipede. Started in Paris in 1891 by Alexandre Darracq (an eccentric, who would later become famous for manufacturing automobiles), Gladiator was one of the dozens of bicycle companies that saturated the market when the cycling craze boomed. The Golden Age of cycling reached its pinnacle in 1895—and that same year printer G. Massias unveiled one of the great Parisian advertising posters. Only four of these original posters exist today. The famed artwork that once showcased the stylish Cycles Gladiator now graces the bottles of our classic wines from California’s Central Coast. The mythological image of the nymph riding her winged bicycle captures the grace and uninhibited beauty of our hillside vineyards.">Cycles Gladiator (it&#8217;s Banned in &#8216;Bama!) On the whole, aside from some rather frustrating wireless bandwidth issues while in session at Santa Rosa’s Flamingo Hotel, I’d say the conference was a successful one. Why? Because the conference largely did what conferences are supposed to do: bring people and industry together to create, build and strengthen relationships with each other.">Winehiker Witiculture: The 2009 Wine Bloggers Conference: a foundation for raising the collective spirit [link]</a></li>

<itunes:summary>There comes a seminal moment in every wine blogger's experience. That moment is when they are profiled and interviewed by your favorite hosts, Kaz and Randy, on Wine Biz Radio! Yeah, whatever...

Shana Ray and Ashley Routson start things off, talking about their nationwide road trip series, dubbed Project Y-ine, aimed at finding out the drinking behaviors of Generation Y aka Millennials aka Those Young People Who Grew Up In The Internet Age. As the interview progresses, it becomes clear that these two women are in for the adventure of a lifetime: think Thelma #38; Louise without all that driving-off-a-cliff nonsense.

Next, there's Russ Beebe, Winehiker and proprietor of California Wine Hikes, who visits with Kaz and Randy to discuss his history, his passion, and his love of hiking in wine country.

All the news that's fit for your ears. That's us: that's Wine Biz Radio!

<itunes:summary>Perhaps our most obscure episode title to date! Is it more obvious than we think it is? Let us know!

Your favorite wine radio hosts have a conversation with Randall Grahm of Bonny Doon Vineyard, talking about his history and what makes him tick. They also have Hardy Wallace, recent hire of Murphy-Goode's "A Really Goode Job" search, who describes the press conference and generally gets to hang and enjoy some wine while our boys flap their gums.

As an added bonus, they summarize WITS from last week in about two minutes: Facebook and Twitter, mud wrestling! Only Wine Biz Radio brings the sexy to your wine industry-loving ears!

<itunes:summary>AmericanWinery.com CEO Lloyd Benedict calls in to discuss with Kaz and Randy the public beta of their new service called winecliQ, their business model and then puts in shameless plugs for all kinds of things! Our ethics-o-meters were off the chart! Or perhaps that was just Randy with his finger in the light socket.

Excellent information for the wine bloggers, small wineries and just about everyone else too!
