While the real Jeep lineup includes Commander, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass, Patriot, Wrangler, Liberty and Rubicon; many people treat the word “jeep” as a generic term and use it uncapitalized for any vehicle of this shape and function.

That is why Chryslers Jeep owners take so much effort in modifying and accessorizing their vehicles.

Since the Jeep brand is popular, there are a lot of aftermarket parts and accessories for its lineup in the automotive market. The are top covers for open Jeeps, warn winch for load raising purposes and there are also jeeplifts for better ground clearance.

Jeeps have always been known for their off road abilities that is why off road enthusiasts are always in the look for good additions to maximize the performance of their rigs. When it comes to off roading, low or lowered vehicles have no place, that is why your vehicle should be lifted to avoid contact from rocks and other elements that may serve as obstacles in your path.

Equipped with front and rear solid axles for smoother driving on ruts filled with twigs and rocks, Jeeps and other 4×4 vehicles will still not be better off without jeeplift kits.

Raising the ride height of vehicles, these kits also enable steeper ascent, descent and breakover angles, higher ground clearance, and helps accommodate larger rims and tires. Lifts also impact other factors, such as drive shaft length, steering geometry and brake lines.

You can find a wide inventory of affordable and high quality lift kits for various brands, types and vehicle models made by the highly-renowned manufacturers available in auto parts and accessories stores online.

Be sure to find a reliable source to facilitate faster ordering and purchasing. With just one click, you can now search and buy the appropriate kit for your vehicles.

For more information on jeeplift kit , you can visit this site that also features jeeplift kits for trucks and jeeplift kits for suv .

Willy’s owners aren’t like anyone else. Some people just don’t understand the thrill of finding an old Jeep and installing a few Willy’s Jeep parts to turn this classic piece of American automotive history into a functioning offroad vehicle.

So how do you find other Willy’s owners?

Join Regional and Local Associations

It’s not hard to find other people to talk Willy’s Jeep parts with. Willy’s organizations exist all over the country from small local clubs to large regional memberships such as West Coast Willy’s or NEWJO (North East Willy’s Jeep Organization).

The larger organizations provide benefits beyond meeting other Willy’s enthusiasts. Newsletters keep members apprised of the latest developments in the Willy’s universe. It’s a great place to find tips from experienced owners to the best places to find Willy’s Jeep parts to undiscovered trails you can take your Jeep on.

The real fun of joining these clubs is for the get-togethers. The regional organizations organize several events every year for Willy’s owners to mingle, talk about Jeeps, and show off their vehicles.

Organize Your Own Local Events

Once you connect with other Willy’s owners you can create your own opportunities to get together. Local Jeepers know the nearby trails and set up mini-jamborees for their families anywhere from every weekend to occasional holidays. Another advantage to finding close Willy’s pals is that you have someone to help you in the garage as long as you are willing to return the favor.

It’s also fun to show off your vehicle to non-Jeepers. Some join local parades or other events, showing off their vintage vehicles to a crowd that might never have seen one outside of a war movie. Jeepers are well known for their charitable activities and volunteering at local non-profits or arranging donation drives are common pastimes.

Willy’s Well Known In Other Countries

Don’t think the love of Willy’s Jeep parts and vehicles stop at the US border. Colombia’s annual Fiesta Nacional del Cafe (National Coffee Festival) celebrates the importance of that cash crop to the country’s history. One of the major events of the festival is the Yipao parade that honors the Willy’s Jeep’s important role in the industry.

Jeeps are decorated with everything from local produce to household furniture as they parade in front of a cheering crowd. The pique contest involves weighting the back of the jeep so it rears up on its back wheels then seeing how far they can drive in a straight line.

The Asociacion Argentina de Coleccionistas de Vehiculos Militares (Argentina Association of Military Vehicle Collectors) has many Willy’s members. The vehicle played an important role in the country’s military history as it did in many countries.

No matter where you are, take the time to find and get to know other Willy’s owners. Your Jeep experience will be the better for it!

The most important feature of any vehicle is not how fast it goes - it’s how fast it stops!

When driving your Jeep you never know when you’ll need to stop suddenly, especially if you drive off-road, so you want to keep Willys Jeep brake parts in top condition.

Which Brake Fluid?

Willys owners generally use one of two types of brake fluid: DOT3 or DOT5. Neither type is necessarily better but each has advantages.

DOT3 is the most common and cheapest brake fluid you’ll find. It’s easy to find not only in auto parts stores, but even in many grocery or drug stores. Its biggest drawback is that it is hydroscopic, meaning it absorbs water.

Over time moisture will build up in the fluid and that will corrode your Willys Jeep brake parts. Owners should drain and replace the fluid annually to avoid the danger of moisture buildup.

DOT5 brake fluid is a silicon-based, high performance brake fluid. While the average Willys isn’t a racecar, many owners like it because it does not absorb moisture, won’t corrode Willys Jeep brake parts and doesn’t need to be replaced.

However it entrains air bubbles, which are as bad as water and removing the air from the brake line can be a difficult task. It is also harder to find and significantly more expensive than DOT3.

Whichever fluid you use, never ever mix DOT3 and DOT5. If you change from one to the other, you must completely drain the system before adding the new fluid.

Bleeding and Adjusting Your Brakes

Over time you will find that you have to push the brake pedal farther to get good stopping power. This is a clear sign that your Willys Jeep brake parts need some attention so don’t put it off. There are two reasons for this: air in the brake line or misaligned brake shoes.

The traditional two-person method of bleeding air from the lines involves one person pumping the brake and another opening and closing the bleeder screw.

These actions must be coordinated perfectly to avoid putting more air into the system. There are also a number of devices that allow a person to bleed the air without a helper.

Over time as brake linings wear down, they don’t make full contact when the pedal is pressed and require greater pressure for the same stopping power. Modern cars have self-adjusting brakes but Willys Jeep brake parts don’t have this feature. Owners must periodically get out the tool box and adjust the brakes manually.

Staying on top of brake fluid levels, air in the lines and brake shoe adjustment is important for ensuring the safety of the driver and passengers. Rather than waiting for problems to start, a regular program of maintenance is the best way to keep your brakes working their best.

There are several things that one must know before seeking military jeeps for sale. There are some distinctions between the civilian jeep and military jeeps.

A familiarity with military jeeps will ensure that the consumer knows what he or she is getting when the consumer finally makes a military jeep purchase.

Military jeeps for sale are vehicles that have been built for heavy duty work and are vehicles revered for their ability to handle well on rough terrain. These vehicles were created in the early 1940s to replace some of the 4×4 heavy duty trucks that soldiers were using during times of war.

Military jeeps for sale possess a six hundred pound load capacity, smooth running engines, and offer 4WD capabilities too. Modern jeeps bear this similarity, and consumers appreciate the rough and rugged riding capabilities of such vehicles.

The very first mass produced military jeeps for sale that were used by the government and were identified as the Willys MB was later replaced by the after WWII by the Willys M38 in the 1950s. These military jeeps for sale also possess fold down windshields, and a 2-speed transfer case.

The body of military jeeps is rectangular in shape and the military jeep weighs less than twelve thousand pounds. The latter combination of features was put into all military jeeps produced for use in WWII, and the military jeeps performed so well that they became a high demand vehicle for other industries as well.

When additional industries expressed a desire for military jeeps for sale, these vehicles were changed just enough to meet the needs of such industries. At that time, military jeeps for sale saw the incorporation of different steering, a new transfer case, and a change in the axle ratio was also added.

Eventually, the governments demand for military jeeps declined due to the creation of the Humvee, but civilians still appreciate the durability and longevity of the military-style vehicles.

If a consumer is seeking older military jeeps for sale they can best do so by using online auctioning sites; these types of sites can prove a serious asset to the consumer seeking a high quality military jeep in excellent condition.

At minimum, the consumer can fully ascertain the condition of the exterior body of the jeep for sale, and can also learn about the various features that the jeep possesses. The consumer will want to review photo images of the jeep under consideration in order to look for signs of damage and rusting.

A sport utility vehicle that delivers unbridled all-wheel drive performance demands a slew of sturdy and rugged parts.

Abused and battered by the most harsh terrains, SUV’s depend heavily on these parts to withstand constant punishment. Chrysler’s all-terrain vehicle manufacturer, Jeep, strives to produce the nastiest all-wheel drive automobiles.

Designed to conquer all kinds of road surfaces, all Jeep vehicles are equipped with performance parts tough enough and tuned to their owners demands.

With the recent issues on environmental hazards posed by fossil fuel combustion, the creators and designers of Jeep know they have to undertake a Herculean task to produce a tough, but clean performance.

Using an internal combustion engine may cause the release of significant amount of harmful gases by the Jeep Exhaust. Because of this, the creators and designers have endeavored to keep the Jeep exhaust system and engine environment-friendly.

A Jeep internal combustion engine basically acts as an air pump. A right level of air and gas combination could enable the engine to move or run. After the air and gas combust inside the engine, the process goes next to the Jeep Exhaust.

The Jeep Exhaust, located at the back of a vehicle, is a series of pipes that connects the engine to a silencer and a catalytic converter. In addition, the Jeep Exhaust brings the combusted gas outside the vehicle. A typical Jeep exhaust system reduces noise, directs exhaust fumes away from the cabin, and improves engine performance and fuel economy.

An important part of Jeep’s exhaust system is the exhaust manifold, which acts like a funnel. It gathers exhaust gases from all cylinders of the engine. Then, it releases the said gases through a single opening, often referred to as the front pipe.

Working with the silencer as a reducing minimizer is the exhaust center. It contains metal plates or tubes that contain a set of holes bored into them. The tail pipe, the Jeep Exhaust system’s only visible part, then carries away the gases.

There is no question that the Jeep’s exhaust system contributes in helping the SUV giant’s vehicles take severe punishment, yet deliver clean, tough performance beyond expectations.

Movies would sometimes depict a car blowing up because of gas leaks. Although they were all choreographed, this could still happen in real life.

Gas leaks are not just caused by holes in the fuel line, it could also be fuel flowing out from an open gas tank. This usually happens when the fuel tank cap is not tightly closed. Jeep owners won’t have to worry because there are Jeep fuel tanks that give a secure and tight fit to avoid any fuel leaks.

Jeep fuel tank caps are rounded metal or hard plastic cap that covers the tank of Jeep vehicles. They are basically tasked to keep the fuel from flowing out of the tank. They are also specifically made to cover the mouth of the fuel tank and to keep the fuel from getting spilled off when the vehicle is running. These fuel tank caps also help avoid fuel spills that could risk the vehicle and the engine into explosion.

Jeep uses high quality fuel tank caps for all its vehicles. These caps are more resistant to rust and corrosion. They also provide a firm grip so that even if they are greased, they could still be held tight and removed easily during fuel filling.	Jeep fuel tank caps are known for their lock scheme properties.

They have unique locking system that seals the fuel inside so that no matter how the vehicle moves, the cap remains in tack over. There are a wide variety of fuel tank caps available depending on the Jeep model which include the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Compass, Jeep Liberty, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Commander.

Jeep fuel tank caps are very helpful tools because they add safety features to the vehicle, particularly within its fuel system. They can be very flexible and provide an easy grip whenever the fuel tank is being filled with fuel.

What people know today as the fun, off road, versatile vehicle we call the jeep, had its beginnings in far different circumstances.

American Bantam built the first Jeeps as Prototypes for the Department of the Army.

While the Army was impressed with the overall design of the vehicle, the engine in the first prototype was too small and did not produce the power the Army was looking for in a field vehicle.

There was also concern over the fact that Bantam was a very small company with only one manufacturing plant and any attempts at sabotage by the enemy could result in a halt in production.

For these reasons the both the Willys-Overland and Ford Motor Companies were allowed to come up with a second design. The Army liked what Willys came up with and granted the contract to both Ford and Willys.

The contract was awarded to both companies because again, the military felt that Willys was too small to produce the number of vehicles required.

Many different companies have owned the name Jeep and even the origins of the name itself have been questioned. What is known for certain is that the Jeep was originally designed for the American Armed Forces and is one of the most recognizable vehicles in the world.

In 1941, Willys produced the first Civilian Jeeps. The initials CJ stand for Civilian Jeep and thus the first model name was born. Willsy sold the brand to Kaiser in 1953 and it became Kaiser-Jeep. Kaiser-Jeep began to suffer financial difficulties and was forced to sell the brand to American Motors (AMC) in 1970.

AMC capitalized on the Jeep’’s International and government markets and had quite a lot of success with the brand. When Chrysler purchased AMC in 1987, Chrysler also acquired the Jeep trademark and still holds it until today.

Jeep has always been known for it’’s off road capabilities. The Jeep Wrangler is the only off road vehicle offered in the United States that has solid rear axles for both the front and back. It is due to the solid axle design that Jeeps are so rugged and dependable in extreme off road situations.

With the lack of rubber boots, there is nothing for sticks and rocks to snag on and because solid axles have better articulation, ruts are much easier to clear. Solid axles are less expensive to lift as well so it is easier to increase the distance between the center of the axle hub and the chassis.

This allows for extra large tires to be installed giving the vehicle even more ground clearance. Today, all Wrangler models come with four-wheel drive, a Dana 35 rear axle, and a Dana 30 front axle.

Jeeps are unique in several other aspects as well. They come in both hard top and soft-top varieties. The soft top can be removed, transforming the automobile into something like a convertible. The Jeep is also the only vehicle in the United States to have removable doors.

The off road Jeep brand has developed something of a cult following and off road events are held all over the country that are open to Jeep owners only.[]

Ronnie Tanner is a contributing writer at SW Engines. He writes about purchasing used Jeep Engines as a cost effective alternative to costly car purchases.

Just about like any war, weather was a factor in World War Two. Tests were done with the jeep using cold weather gear.

The tests took place during winter along the ALCAN (Alaska - Canada) Highway. Out of those tests several kits were produced for use in locations with extreme cold weather. The Winterization Field Kit included in part:

Blanket, brush guard, assembly

Blanket, hood, assembly

Blanket, under fender, left, assembly

Blanket, under fender, right, assembly

Blanket, under motor, assembly

Various spring clips

Fasteners to attached the covers to the jeep

Drawings showing the installation of the radiator and brush guard

Installation instructions

Spring, retaining for the under motor blanketetc.

Whilein Alaska from 1988 to 1991, I was able to put the hood and grille blankets to good use. The set that I found, someone had sewn them together so that you couldn’t open the hood with the covers attached. Wasn’t usually a problem.

Boy, did these covers work well. During the harsh Alaska winters it was nothing for the temperature to dip below -45F. With the covers attached and the radiator flap closed the Jeep’s engine stayed warm but never too hot. I also had a heater installed and that kept the inside of the jeep to a tolerable condition.

Later I was able to find a WW2 heater (part WO- A-11839) designed for the Jeep. This heater mounts over the driver’s feet! Sure keeps your feet nice and warm and is pretty effective even at -45F.

Of course, I was properly dressed with a Air Force issued parka, bunny pants and mukluks (boots). If the weather is less severe, don’t try to drive your jeep with tennis shoes on–your shoes will melt![]

Jeep tops are universally known accessories for jeeps. Almost anyone from the casual jeep owner to a hardcore off-road enthusiast would have some knowledge about them.

However, if you think that jeep tops are but a simple item, you might have to think again because it can get pretty complicated.

It would be quite hard to go wrong in buying a jeep top but having an intimate, and not just a basic knowledge about them can help you a lot in making a purchase of jeep top.

An extensive knowledge of jeep tops is also beneficial in the long run.

To begin with, asking the question, which jeep top? is essential in the decision-making process of choosing and eventually buying a jeep top. Contrary to what you might think, selecting a jeep top could be quite complicated.

While all of its features are stated plainly, its pictures could give you the idea of what you can expect with it, and your environmental situation already dictates the specific one you need, there are many other factors that you must take into account when you are going to purchase a jeep top.

You must make sure about intangible factors like its frame style and installation. These are but two of not much known aspects that need to be highly considered in jeep tops. Meanwhile, you need to experience firsthand the factors like its insulation or road noise.

Here are some of the most unaccounted for aspects in that must be considered well in jeep tops.

1.	Aftermarket or Factory Jeep tops?

There are no huge differences between the things that aftermarket and factory jeep tops can offer. Factory jeep tops gives you the genuine Jeep feel and overall appearance. It also offers additional security because of sticking to the true Jeep accessories that are of the same standard with the vehicles own quality.

Aftermarket jeep tops has great similarities with those of factory units but there are some exceptions. The materials, quality and purposes of aftermarket tops are parallel with the factory version but certain benefits and features can be found in aftermarket units that are not available in factory ones.

Aftermarket tops are optimized for reduced road noise. Replacement units are also relevantly cheaper than the factory units. Choosing aftermarket is more favorable when replacing old factory jeep tops.

2.	What jeep top category?

There are two obvious ways of categorizing jeep tops. They are the Hardtops and Soft tops. Hardtops can be a never-fail choice since they rarely need replacements and provide heavy-duty and enhancement protection.

Soft tops are built for drivers who love customized jeep accessories. They are available with a large design variety, offering comfort, style and versatility that justify your Jeep purchase. Soft tops can also be easily installed, removed and stored.

However, they are not ideal on colder weathers because of their thinner fabric and material construction that result to poor insulation. They may last for about 3 5 years and the requires replacement.

There are many other things to consider like making a choice between Two-piece Hardtops or One-piece Hardtops if you settled on purchasing the Jeep Hardtops and the selections regarding pre-existing factory frame Jeep tops.

You also need to think about having an Aftermarket frame or no frame jeep top. Still when we go down to it, what really matters most is getting the style that you require at a really reasonable price.[]
