( ‘you excite me, part one’ for all you lazy ass people )

Bonjour!

What a long weekend – I feel like Sleeping Beauty at the moment…if I went to sleep, nothing would be able to wake me up…apart from a hot guy that is and my god were there some hot guys in Paris; I fell in love about 4 times a day!

Vanessa and I got to the airport ok and met her friend Jen who had come from London (as she is working a year abroad) and met Cath (who is currently living in France…jealous? Moi?) at the hotel. Four single girls in Paris? Do I hear the words ‘trouble’ and ‘hell yeah’ in the same sentence?!

Saturday was a blur of blissful sunshine, amazing sights and a shit load of walking (I’m not kidding people…roughly 8 miles a day after a 13 mile walk the weekend before – wtf was I thinking?!). We started at the Eiffel Tower before catching a Batobus (water bus) along to the Notre Dame (it’s EXACTLY how it looks in the Disney film). Now I’m not a religious girl but the cathedral really affected me. It was immensely busy and yet eerily quiet inside and all you could hear was the choir chanting (think sounds of historic Monks in churches). I sat in one of the pews and found myself with tears running down my face and I don’t even know why; was so bizarre and comforting at the same time.

Next we hopped on over to the Louvre museum and saw Mona Lisa for a quick chat and a bite to eat lol. Seriously though, you should have seen the security surrounding her. Then, as we came out of the Louvre, we saw this view……

Now, stupidly, Vanessa saw this view and decided that it wouldn’t take too long to walk to the Arc di Triomphe at the end. I went to Paris 2 years ago with Dan and had done this walk before so tried to warn her that it would take about 45 minutes to walk it but ignoring my advice we walked and sure enough she moaned – bless her.

By the time we had arrived at the Arc di Triomphe we were hot, sweaty, chaffing like mad and soooo not elegant Parisian ladies. However, we all perked up when we saw this…

There was a memorial service on the actual island so we didn’t go over and watch but the view from where we were was amazing; I wanted to exclaim ‘Tu m’excitez’ as I thought it meant excited but the literal translation basically means ‘you get me hot and sweaty, let’s get down and dirty’ (ok, not the exact literal translation but you get my meaning) so I figured that a foreigner telling a French armed guard that they get her horny might not go down so well, no?

After that we headed back to our hotel for some much-needed R&R, a cool shower and a lie down before dolling ourselves up and heading back out to dinner. We decided to go to St Germain di Pres which is the place to be if you want to rub shoulders with Parisians and enjoy some serious fine dining! We had a blast chuckling over silly ‘in-jokes’ and going over our adventures of the day and planning more adventures for the next.

Cath was my roomie for the night and we stayed up talking until about 2am until she fell asleep. I, however, spent most of the night desperately trying to get to sleep but couldn’t stop thinking about Tom, Dan and everything else in between – what a joy killer.

Anyhow, this post is long enough already…more adventures of ‘tu m’excitez’ men, sex museums and cemeteries to follow (random isn’t it?!)

Just thought I would stop by and tell you that I won’t be on here for about 5 days or so as my friend and I are off to Paris.  I completely forgot we had arranged it for this weekend (hence the reason I have no guest posters) so it came as a shock when she reminded me.  I guess the escape couldn’t have come at a better time though my friend, as much as I love her, is hard to be around 24/7 as she’s so hyper and being in the mood I’m currently in.  Imagine a yapping Chihuahua high on sugar and you have Vanessa lol.

In all the drama over Tom I forgot to tell you that I completed my half-marathon at the weekend.  Annie Sue and I were in the second group of the evening with approximately 250 women 30 minutes ahead of us.  Not only did we do the walk (if I haven’t mentioned before it was a walking half-marathon) in 3hr 45 mins but we came in the Top 50 over taking about 200 other women!!  We are so pleased with ourselves and proud of each other; we had a great time and I’ll do it next year too!  Although the blisters, the size of saucers I have, might have something to say about that!

And how do I feel?  Hmmmm.  Well I’m barely sleeping so look like death personified and I’ve barely eaten since Sunday so all in all, not that great.  I know I’ll get over Tom and it’ll only serve to make me stronger but for now, it really fucking hurts.  I know; how melodramatic of me it is to be upset over a guy I’d never even met but I’m not even sure it’s all about Tom anymore either though he makes up most of it.  I think it’s just a combination of everything…delayed grieving for my relationship, the realization that my friends have left, the uncertainty that my life now has; everything.

I guess Karma really is a bitch isn’t it?!  I broke Dan’s  heart so a little ‘universal payback’ in the form of Tom was no doubt due. Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas once said that her drug addiction was the hardest boyfriend to break up with; I think I can apply the same to depression.

Being that I’m going traveling etc I decided to start a named blog for my friends and family etc to join me whilst I begin to plan my trip and then follow me when I’m away…it’s so much easier than sending 20 e-mails each time and the fact that I’m just too lazy!

Well, I was e-mailing the Evil One whilst at work because I owe her some money and I mentioned my new blog and the title of it and instead of saying ‘that’s a really cool idea’ she said ‘why would you call it that’ but with a tone of a voice that said ‘what a stupid name for a travel blog’ – WHAT. A. BITCH!

That’s the problem with the Evil One.  It’s never what she says but the way she says it and yet I’m the one being stupid when I complain to Eleanor about it?!  What a tool!  Of course, the title of my travel blog is pretty obscure but it has a lot of meaning to me and that’s all that counts.  It just sucks when people have nothing better to do with their lives than criticise others and their decisions.

Dear Evil One; how about you lose 80lbs, get a man, move out of home and then get back to me with your comments bitch?  At least I’m doing something with my life and I’m not a 46 year old who hasn’t had a date in 23 years, still lives with her mom and pretends she’s a mom because she has two nieces!

In other news, My birthday was lovely.  The girls threw me a picnic with birthday cake!  Then, a guy I have started ‘seeing’ (more on that soon) sent me a huge bunch of flowers – how romantic!  Unfortunately, my day didn’t end that well with Dan coming over in the evening to drop my present off.  I sat there and went through the motions with him; guilt, sadness, anger and eventually he left.  Let’s just say it confirmed why I had left him – I know I made the right decision.

Was out walking in training for this stupid half-marathon next weekend and there he was.  New t-shirt, new shorts, new hair cut and a smile on his face meeting friends for dinner.  He seemed happy.

And I wondered; when did it happen?

When did he decide to change his image for the better?  When did he decide to take control of his life?  But more importantly, why didn’t he love me enough to change when I needed him to?  I don’t mean I got in the relationship purely because I wanted to change him, I’m not like that.  But with any long term relationship/marriage, you inevitably hit a wall and one, if not the both of you, have to change to a certain degree as your relationship grows.  So why couldn’t he have done it for us?

It makes me sad and angry that it took something severe enough as me ending it before he stopped being complacent and took control of himself and his life.  I wonder if he has done this to get me back or if he has done it for himself.  Either way, unfortunately, it’s too little too late.

In other news, I took the day off from work today and spent it window shopping and chilling out in Central Park; just needed some time out to clear my head you know?  It did me a world of good and I’m feeling a bit better than I have done of late.

-      Saturday day time was spent in town doing a bit of retail therapy to cheer myself up after the crappy news on Friday and then chilling out in Central Park with a magazine and some sun worshipping.

-      Saturday night was when I really got into my own and had a great time!  I went out with Vanessa and two of her friends and it was a packed out evening and everywhere we went was crammed full of hotties – LOVED IT!  Wall to wall man decoration; now that’s what I’m talking about for a night out!  The night went on, drinks were seriously drank and conversations began.  That’s when I apparently pulled a soccer player.  I say apparently because I had no idea who he was (yeah yeah I know, how embarrassing!) until Vanessa and her friend came screeching over to tell me lol.  He plays for our local team but seeing as I don’t follow soccer at all, I think I can be excused for not knowing.  We had a lushious kiss and we exchanged numbers but I stopped texting when he thought he was getting some and that’s because of this…

-      Anyway, Sunday arrived and I spent 5 hours in Central Park under blissful sunshine with Vanessa and her friend.  We had a picnic, listened to music and realised just why we love our home at times like this.   Despite all of its problems; on that day with its weather, views and people, you just can’t beat some good old NYC.

-      I had the day off on Monday so I spent it having lunch with my family at my aunties before they headed off to Florida for a couple of weeks of Disney and Universal.  I <3 Disney!  Was nice to just chill out again after a lazy lie in catching up on some You Tube action on my iPod Touch.  I also bought a load of books at the weekend to do with traveling etc which got me excited all over again about my impending trip and reassured myself that I’m definitely doing the right thing!

Right, so I think you’re all caught up on my weekend action.  Only 4 days of work for me this week and I’m already looking forward to the next weekend.

Firstly I should tell you about the real crappy news I got on Friday…
Remember I had my 3 months of leave agreed to? Well, apparently it doesn’t come without some heavy duty strings attached to it. Basically, it comes down to my job or my travels. If I leave for those 3 months they can’t guarantee I’ll have my job at the end of it. They can guarantee a job within the department just not the same position. That doesn’t sound too bad you think? But then they tell me in the same sentence that we are under departmental review i.e. they’re looking to cut some staff. So; after sitting in stunned silence in the office I have pretty much told them they can shove it. I am going whether they like it or not and if they don’t value me enough to fight for me then I don’t value them enough to stay. Basically, I am going whether they want me to or not. I will NOT allow them to threaten me to stay. I will go, NOT CARE about the possibility of losing my job and enjoy my freedom more than ever. It just made me feel so sad though. That one minute they could all be genuinely happy for me and then to taint it/try and take it away from me. Well, management, I have two words to say to you ‘NOT HAPPENING!’.

As for the weekend…I certainly wasn’t sad at the end of it.  As I said, it was a weekend to top many others but, well, there just so much to say it’s worthy of at least 2 posts so you’ll have to wait for the next installment but it’s well worth waiting for, trust me!

Nothing to really post about.  Got some bad news today so not really feeling in a bloggy mood sorry.  I’ll be back after the weekend, just got a lot going on in the old noggin so to speak.

My office buddy has been away for this week so I had it all to myself…Miss Piggy came in for a chat and a moan about her boss.  As the conversation went on she told me that she really wants to have a baby so that she can go on long walks and lose some weight (I don’t think she’s aware of the irony there lol) but that’s not the best bit…

She told me that her boyfriend, although they have talked about getting pregnant, hasn’t agreed to it for now yet she’s going to go ahead anyway but not tell him and so the plot thickens. Will we hear the pitter patter of tiny feet soon?  Watch this space because it looks as though if Miss Piggy wants something she’ll get it whatever anyone says.
