I haven’t posted on here in ages, mainly because I haven’t been back to Alaska since 2010. I still keep in touch with most of the great people that I met in Alaska and they are some of the most interesting people that I have ever met. It’s a bit of a lazy Sunday and I thought I’d map out the current locations of my fellow Coldfoot alums. From Antarctica to Mongolia to Russia and spread throughout the US, Coldfooters are no strangers to world travel.

I graduate Wheaton College in May and then I’m off to an undetermined location to work with a tech startup. I hope this posts finds everyone well. I can be reached via e-mail (teddy[at]colle.ge) or Twitter (@teddy). Feel free to contact me anytime!

Almost 300 people are competing in the competition and Dave is in 8th place! The top 10 will win signed copies of BT’s album “These Hopeful Machines” but I personally think Dave can place in the top 3! Please help Dave out and vote for him with the widget below. All it takes is entering your e-mail – don’t worry you won’t get spammed, this is legitimate! Also, please do listen to the song… it’s quite good!

It feels like an eternity since I was last in Alaska but it was really only about 7 months ago. A few brave souls from last summer’s team at Coldfoot stuck around for the winter. It is really a testament to how incredible the Arctic is. I think a winter there, despite the extreme colds, would be a really excellent experience. Pond hockey, dog sledding, aurora entertainment, snow shoeing. Speaking of aurora entertainment, one of my friend’s who stayed up at Coldfoot for the winter picked up a D90 and a tripod and has been shooting the aurora displays. He recently shot a 1 minute timelapse comprised of 1,440 shots. Click the image below to check it out:

The team at Campus Files has been playing around with a tool that we’ve built after acquiring the domain hack, colle.ge. At the moment, you can navigate over to colle.ge, and use our link shortening tool to make a custom colle.ge/ link that redirects to any link of your choice. It’s an effective way to personalize your links, especially if they pertain to higher-ed. Try it out!

In other news, I have been racking up the frequent flier miles. I’ve done two trans-atlantic flights from LHR-EWR in the past couple of weeks and a trip to Istanbul in between. Istanbul is an unbelievable city. It was a shocking experience being amongst 13 million people, yet everyone I met was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I had the experience of crossing from Europe into Asia, all whilst staying in the same country. Checked off another continent! I stayed in my friend’s apartment, which is right off of İstiklal Avenue, the bustling center of the Beyoğlu district, and in very close proximity to Taksim Square. It is truly a city that never sleeps. Vendors selling rice, kebabs, and delicious Islak Burgers, can be found at all hours. The cultural dynamic is quite phenomenal as vestiges of the Ottoman Empire still are quite prominent. I’m back in the states at the moment, visiting New York, Boston, and Maine. Back to London next week to start preparing for exams! Wish me luck.

I am still in rainy London, studying away. All it takes is being in a chaotic city like London to realize how special Alaska is. I just wanted to come back here and share a photo that particularly makes me nostalgic for the Arctic.

I snapped this shot on a solo hike up past Atigun Pass. Despite hitchhiking 7 miles in the cold morning rain/snow before snagging a ride ~100 miles South back to Coldfoot, it was a wonderful hike. That area is so beautiful and it really made an impact on me.

I am still deciding what to do this summer. Exciting things are happening with LiberalArtsColleges.com and EngineeringColleges.com so I might flock to San Francisco and Silicon Valley or maybe even Silicon Alley (New York City). We shall see.

Things are still going strong here in London. Time is flying by. It’s hard to believe that I have been here almost a month now. I head to Prague at the beginning of next month. It will be my first real travels since I’ve been living here in London. I’m meeting with a friend from back in Maine who is studying in Antibes.

Due to the response I had last year from Sukakpak applicants seeking more information, I have added a Formspring.me widget to the sidebar. This will allow you to ask me or others in a public forum questions about working at Coldfoot or even in Alaska in general. Hey, it can be completely unrelated if you want. You can visit the question and answer forum at http://www.formspring.me/ted0

I hope this helps! Feedback is more than welcome.
