Because it's good to give back to our community and
because what's even more fun than buying a rockin' costume
is winning one.

We will be raffling off a few choice items at our May 30th Spring Sale.
Two of the items are shown in our lovely photo display below.

All proceeds from the raffle, go to benefit Las Familias del Pueblo in
downtown Los Angeles. Las Familias del Pueblo is a community center for
sweatshop workers and their children. Located on the edge of Los Angeles'
skid row and the start of the garment district, Las Familias has a full-day
kindergarten/first-grade charter school, an after-school program for 100
children that provides homework and tutorial assistance as well as learning
experiences and support for children and youth 12 hours a day. Parents of the
children that attend Las Familias all work, so the center provids programs of
equal intensity during summer vacation and school holidays. At Las Familias,
the charter and after-school program are organized around educating the whole
child, helping each child develop good judgement, self-control, empathy, courage,
and honesty.

Tickets are only $2, and you do not need to be present to win. Though we will
need your email or phone number, or carrier pigeon destination to inform you
of your win and your new totally sweet costume.

Howdy howdy howdy and welcome to Western's Western Day!

Last year we had some confusion as to the meaning of Western Costume.
So, as to be as clear as a blue sky over Wyoming, while we do not focus on western wear we do have a selection of it for sale this year. So please make yourselves comfortable, sidle on up to our sale and ask yourselves one question.
Do you feel lucky?
Well, do ya?
Note: outfit only guaranteed to make you look cool. Does not guarantee the having of any useful cowboy skills or the successful execution of any sweet cowboy moves/stunts/ or otherwise.
Nora just got cast as Tiger Lily in our company production of Peter Pan. GLITTERSNAKE is, of course, Peter. And, in a cruel, cruel twist of fate, reprising the same role I had in community theater when I was 11, I have been cast as the kangaroo. (No, there will be no pictures of that, thank you)
These are just a few prime examples of our western and else-wise frontier items. We used to have some bear traps, but oddly enough our bosses just didn't feel comfortable selling them. Oh well. We're sure you can still have fun with these. Hey, grab a few of your favorites and that lantern from Episode 9: Cage Fighting and You, and you could have yourselves a real nice camp out.

P.S. We have some awesome saloon girl dresses but as yet haven't found a model. Forecast: 90% more likely for me to model a saloon girl dress than a kangaroo.

Feeling despondent since you found out who the last Cylon is? Having writers block with your Firefly fan fic? Well stay on target red leader...the force is with you. And so is our yard sale.

If you haven't caught on its sci-fi day! Hold on to you butts because we will be making all those Galactica references that Erica hasn't allowed Nora to say for the last 5 weeks or so, because we are down to the final five. (workdays that is)

While we don't recommend playing the at-home edition of "Running Man" (for the last time, no chainsaws in the house!) we can whole-heartedly recommend these fetching jumpsuits.

Really looking to stick it to the MCP? Look cool on your Light Cycle and stay safe with our rocking helmet (not street legal)

This next item is a must if the Klingon High Council has just sentenced you to an all expense paid trip to an ice-planet forced labor camp and also doubles as a knockout Wookie bridal ensemble.

Feel up to making decisions about the survival of the human race? We've got the outfit for all you Admiral Adama fans out there.

The whole government/military thing not working for you? Well, we do have some nice nehru jackets running around here somewhere that would help you fit in quite nicely with the Baltar groupies. We would normally have a photo for you but frankly we don't know where they are right now. That's what happens when we have around 80 fully loaded racks full of costumes. Seriously. Come buy things. For the love of the twelve gods, come buy things.

Barbara Bush- Look, we just couldn't find a lavender suit that
was as boxy as we might have liked. Oh well.

Hillary Clinton-the early nineties are the zenith of the pink power suit.

Laura Bush- in a stunning combination of the last two, its both pink and boxy.

Michelle Obama- Dear Michelle Obama, no one can be as rad as you! We tried
raid the 1950's section but were unsuccessful. We hope you will accept this jacket of
metallic goodness and try not to think too poorly of us and our plucky yard sale.

GLITTERSNAKE insisted that Monica was a first lady. His grasp of American history leaves much to be desired, but we decided to humor him. (He tends to pout.)

Episode 23: I've Got Soul but I'm Not a Soldier

Welcome to the exciting conclusion of ten things that are more fun than sitting by yourself.
When we last left our heroes they were valiantly battling the forces of boredom. Let's see what they have in store for villainous onslaught of monotony:

6. Declare war on the American Colonies. That's right: the Red Coats are coming!

7. Utterly annihilate an atoll. Seriously, the Deacon pays really well. In fact, we're thinking of joining up with him. However, Nora can only dog paddle, so if we fall off our tricked out jet skis we're so drowning in these heavy heavy clothes. And yes if you're still confused- we've got Waterworld costumes.

8. Make a fruit salad. Or banana chips. Banana chips are good. What? We're snacky.

*and yes, we are selling this really photogenic plastic fruit.

9. Impersonate a parakeet.

*Listen, you try to look hot in this hat.

10. Run away to join the French Foreign Legion. Cole Porter did!

Its so much better than the circus because you learn useful skills like how to be French!

GLITTERSNAKE wants to join...probably because we're still mad at him.

We hope you are at least slightly amused, because that is also way better than sitting by yourself, but that would be number eleven and lists are only supposed to go to number ten.

Episode 22: Because it's More Fun than Sitting By Yourself

Stuck inside on a rainy day? Too hot to go outside? Afraid a blustery day might ruin the forest Christopher Robin? Well, don't get your heads stuck in a honey pot, we have some exciting activities to keep you entertained.

We had a whole exciting photo essay about how to flood your living room and stage a mock naval battle however we cannot wholeheartedly reccommend this as my camera suffered a fatal injury during our own personal skirmish. (GLITTERSNAKE got a little blood thirsty in his gladiator costume and pushed my poor camera off of a bookcase. GLITTERSNAKE has also suffered some minor injuries but should make a full recovery. The camera...not so much.)
Please send donations to the Erica Camera Replacement Fund: Courtesy of Western Costume. Please people, we need to know that chilvary is not dead.
Check out my camera's final photos, ironically they are of GLITTERSNAKE in his gladiator costume. RIP camera it has been an honor serving with you.

So, in light of that unexpected mishap, lets all enjoy some gems from our photo archive. FYI, we'll be enjoying these gems until I can make it to the Best Buy.
Right then, things to do that are more fun than sitting by yourself:
1. Put on a cloak and suck the blood of your friends and neighbors. You might even meet a nice cocktail waitress.

Also very effective for wrecking havoc in small English villages in the name of the Greater Good.

2. Toss on a fetching hood and practice your archery skills in hopes of winning the Fair Maid Marian. Or you could just bust a rhyme Chaucerian style.

3. Attempt to find Dr. Zhviago- which might prove difficult in Los Angeles. But if you wear this fur hat, maybe he'll find you.

4. Break out the iphones and make your own Bollywood film extravaganza.

Singing and Dancing a must. Kissing forbidden. Forbidden we say!

5. Got a friend who needs cheering up? Throw them a surprise Quincenera. Hey, why not?
