Set in South Africa in the 1940′s, this film is based on the novel by Alan Paton. A Christian Zulu pastor, Stephen Kumalo (James Earl Jones), receives word that his sister Gertrude has become ill in Johannesburg. He decides to leave at once to see her and to try also to find his brother John and son Absalom. Arriving in the city, Stephen is shocked at city life and soon finds Gertrude in a brothel where he forcibly removes her. Then he finds his brother, a leading politician of unrest. They have little to say to each other, so Stephen searches for his son. He finally locates Absalom in prison where he has been charged with the murder of a white man, Arthur Jarvis. Arthur was from the same province as the Reverend, and soon Stephen meets the murdered man’s father (Richard Harris). The remainder of the story plots the reconciliation of these two men. Powerfully told, the film maintains interest as the relationship between a black man and a white man unfolds in a new awareness of their common humanity. Those who appreciate thought provoking drama will particular enjoy this film.

Pawn’s Move

A young man inherits a pawn shop, together with the four million dollars he made from a recent collectible item. In order to escape the clingy, money-hungry “girlfriend” and the devastating death of his mentor, he moves to a small town and assumes a new identity. There he will meet new friends and discover some important life lessons about how our Heavenly Father truly works in our lives. A young and pretty woman soon captures his heart, but their secret pasts and insecurities conspire to keep them apart.

Having already made a splash on the film festival circuit, this multiple award-winning movie will capture the hearts of viewers of all ages. Pawn’s Move is an endearing story of grief, love and redemption. A definite must-see for the whole family!

ApologetiX: Wise Up and Rock

ApologetiX talks about their newest project:
“We loved the 80′s. We lived the 80′s. So we thought we’d revisit them with a biblical perspective – something most of us lacked in the 80′s

As you may have guessed, Wise Up and Rock is a play on words referencing Luke 5:23, where Jesus said “Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?”

In fact, we were so used to saying “Rise up and walk” that when we first named this CD, the quote from Jesus was much easier for us to say than the CD title.

Incidentally, when our lead singer, J. Jackson, joined his first Christian group in 1986, his solo was a song called “Wise Up.” He spent the rest of the 80′s in secular rock bands so his singing career for that decade could be summarized as “Wise Up” and rock.

It also summarizes what we try to get people to do – learn (wise up) while they’re rocking and rolling. And like the guy on the cover of this CD, the Bible is behind everything we do. As our bassist Keith Haynie, says: “Wise up and rock, I have been telling people that for years.” -ApologetiX

Safe Harbor

This Hallmark Channel original movie is based on the remarkable true story of couple Doug and Robbie Smith, who founded the Safe Harbor Home for Boys in Jacksonville, Florida.

On the eve of their retirement cruise to luxury, self-made millionaire Dough Smith (Treat Williams) and wife Robbie (Nancy Travis) get a call from Doug’s past asking him to “pay it forward” by helping out troubled teens for a brief stay on their boat. A local judge (Orson Bean), who took mercy on a young Doug when he was in trouble with police, asks the couple to put off their trip to help spare three teens from serving prison time with veteran criminals.

Through hard work, discipline, and the calm and confidence gained by a challenging life at sea under Dough and Robbie’s guidance, the boys turn their lives around. In return, the couple finds a renewed sense of purpose and calling for their twilight years.
