Try this method the next time you want to drive more traffic to your site.  I have used this idea to sucessfully drive over one hundred visitors to a single post in less than 24 hours.  This tip assumes you already have a Wordpress Self-Published Blog. I love the built in SEO feature that comes standard with all self-published Wordpress blogs. While most blogs accept “trackbacks”, Wordpress blogs do the trackback process automaticly for you.

If you link to another blog, such as I just did with Wordpress and the image above at iphonematters.com, their owners will see my post url in their dashboard but the best thing is that my post will also be seen by their visitors as well.

Be sure when you post to use the tag feature in order to maximize search engine response. Try to closly match the main keywords in your post. Keep it clean and simple using only 3 to 5 tags per post.

You can use these simple techniques everytime you post in order to greatly increase the amount of traffic you receive to each post.  I have also found that the quality of the sites you link to also influences the amount of traffic you will receive so be sure to keep that in mind when your linking.

Google AdSense has been around for some time now but do people really make money with it?  The answer is yes. Kind-of. You can verify this question on the forums. Some sites do real well but for most of us we’re lucky to make a buck or two a month.

Not a big profit but that’s OK with me for two reasons.

1. Google is used as a tool to draw traffic to my site. I do this by adding AdSense to my site and Google does the rest. Pretty simple. Call it light weight SEO.
2. My readers deserve options and Google does a pretty good job now of staying on niche to better serve them. In the long run it should be about your visitors needs and not yours.

I personally feel that Google has been a big asset to my Internet Business over the years and has been good for the Web Industry in general.  By handing out low ranking scores to millions of worthless websites, blogs and articles and by tirelessly filtering out the garbage, the world wide web is now a much better forum than it was 10 years ago.

It may seem cruel on Google’s part to have to take such a hard line in order to combat all the trash but believe me they are doing us all a great big favor.  Do you like searching for something and having 50 crap affiliate articles come up. Point made.

Reputation and relevant content is what will win the race these days on the search engines and especially on Google.

So how is Google helping me now?

I couldn’t get any traffic to my Software Center website and the search engines ignored me at my every turn.

When I attached the Software Center website to the Webit Geek blog as an extension website we saw hardly any visitors at first but as of the last few days a once worthless website has just received over a hundred visitors.

• Start talking about what you know. That’s enough. You may notice that I don’t go very deep into explanation on every detail of how every thing works. We set it up – it works – good enough for me.
• I don’t know every thing and don’t care too. That’s what I love about blogging.  Someone else has the rest of the story. That’s their gift.
• God or the higher power or whatever you like to call it gave me the gift of problem solving and figuring out how things work. I’ve done construction trades for well over 20 years. In my Waterproofing business I sometimes consult with construction defect issues not related to my trade. To put it simply… “some people see the forest and I see the tree”.  Many times on site I see what Architects, Engineers, Subs and General Contractors don’t see.  I don’t why it happens, I don’t know their trades.  Like I said – It’s a gift from the big guy above.
• Don’t deny your gift – - I denied mine for years. Don’t deny yours…Fixing Stuff..Making Stuff…Being Funny…Making Music… Telling Stories…Helping People. It’s all good baby, don’t deny it.  BLOG IT!
• Are you hearing me. I’m 49 now. People saw my gift for years – not me – I didn’t see my value. I didn’t realize how to make money with it so I chased after other stuff and wasted a lot of time spinning my wheels. Develop your gift first and the money will follow.

Find your talent and blog about it.  Stay focused and on your well researched keywords niche topic and teach the world something we don’t know. That’s how we all share our gifts together.  What fun. Stay in touch and let me know what you come up with. Your real comments are always welcome.

So what is Webit Geek anyway?

Basically Webit Geek is a model blog that you can follow and I’m showing you how I built it right in front of your own eyes on video. From the beginning Webit Geek walks you through exactly how I set everything up and exactly what tools I used to get the job done.

I’m aware that a Google ad may drag a visitor or two away from your site but you will get way more visitors in the long run than you lose and you will receive a higher ranking score from Google when you let them advertise on your site.

Here is what’s happened so far at Webit Geek:

• Site Launched March 30-31, 2009
• April 2009 – 245 unique visitors.
• May 2009 – 657 unique visitors.
• As of Today – June 10, 2009 – 533 unique visitors.
• That equals a 70 day grand total of 1440 total unique visitors and nearly 50,000 pages viewed.
• It’s likely we will see 2500 or more total unique visitors by the end of our first 90 days.
• Webit Geek hit page one and several page two Google rankings on a few tough to rank niche topics.

It’s a good start and as I’ve said before, these are not rock star results, just a good solid foundation from which to build on from here.  You can follow the Webit Geek Lessons and achieve similar results too. Be sure to stay tuned because now that our foundation is built we will continue to learn and improve in order to web-it better, faster and smarter.

Remember, most rock star results usually come from those clever marketers who pay, lie or steal to build false fast start results and then sell a get rich quick course leaving you wondering why it never works.

I recently received a refund on a $77 dollar course just like it that spent most of the ad talking about how it wasn’t just another PPC course (lie) then basically all the course taught was that once you find the PPC keywords that are winners you simply RAMP IT UP at Google AdSense to increase your profits. NO DUH. LOL.
