Brackets 1.10 is available in the WebUpd8 Brackets PPA (it includes libgcrypt11 so the debs in the PPA should work on any Ubuntu / Linux Mint version, unlike the official deb packages).

Changes:

Multiple encoding support: Brackets now supports more than 40 different file encodings. You can now Open/Save files with different encodings.
Search History: Access all your most recently searched queries from the search bar.
@rule and pseudo-selector code hints: CSS code hints now support @rule and pseudo selector/element code hints.
Inline CSS code hints: Brackets now provides CSS code hints in style attribute value in html.
Forward/Backward navigation in edit history: Navigate backward/forward using Alt-I, Alt-Shift-I across explicit cursor positions.
Enable/Disable default extensions: You can now enable/disable default extensions, that are shipped with Brackets.
Native Menus for Linux: HTML menus are replaced with native menus in Linux.

Atom PPA Updated For 32bit (1.11.2)

The Atom 32bit builds failed with Atom 1.11.x due to a bug. For this reason, the WebUpd8 Atom PPA provided the latest stable Atom 1.11.2 for 64bit, but an older Atom version for 32bit (1.10.2).

The bug hasn’t been fixed in Atom yet, but there’s a PR that fixes it, and I’ve used it to build the Atom PPA packages.

Note that the Atom package in the WebUpd8 PPA currently has a weird version: 1.11.2.64bit+1.11.2.32bit - that’s due to providing different 32bit and 64bit versions for the last release, like I mentioned above. This will return to a normal version with the next stable Atom release.

Oracle Java 8u111 Available In PPA

Oracle Java 8u111 is now available in the WebUpd8 Oracle Java PPA. For release notes, please visit THIS page.

Previously, this package would increment the Java priority to make it default. The oracle-java8-installer package now sets the Java priority to 1081, and that may or may not set it as default, depending on other Java packages you may have installed (for instance, if Java 7 is also installed, Java 8 becomes default, but if Java 9 is installed, Java 8 doesn’t become default).

To make Java 8 default, you must install the “oracle-java8-set-default” package (which configures the Java environment variables and sets it as default), which I added as a “Recommended” package to “oracle-java8-installer”.

In Ubuntu, recommended packages are automatically installed, so “oracle-java8-set-default” should be installed when installing “oracle-java8-installer”. In Linux Mint on the other hand, recommended packages are not installed by default, so you must install this package manually if you want to set Oracle Java 8 as default.

So, if you want to set Oracle Java 8 as default, no matter what other Java versions are installed, make sure that you install the oracle-java8-set-default package (which, again, should be installed with the main Oracle Java Installer package in Ubuntu, but not in Linux Mint):
sudo apt install oracle-java8-set-default

If you don’t want to make Oracle Java 8 default (it might still be set as default, depending on what other Java versions you may have installed), install the oracle-java8-installer with “–no-install-recommends”:
sudo apt install --no-install-recommends oracle-java8-installer

Note: removing the oracle-java8-set-default package does not undo all the changes (I have yet to find a way to do this properly). If you don’t want to set it as default, remove both oracle-java8-installer and oracle-java8-set-default packages, and then install oracle-java8-installer with “–no-install-recommends” (like mentioned above).

Edit: the changes I mentioned above for the oracle-java8-installer package, were also applied to the oracle-java9-installer.

EncryptPad 0.3.2.3 Available In PPA

EncryptPad 0.3.2.3 is available in the main WebUpd8 PPA. Changes:

Configurable s2k iteration count. It can be set per file and the default value for new files. That value is also used for protecting file keys.
Support for the timestamp bytes in GPG files.
Renamed the executable to low case encryptpad except on Mac OS.
Improved English interface consistency in GUI. All passwords became passphrases.
Translation to Russian.
Translation to French.
Added the SHA-512 hashing algorithm.
CLI: resilience in edge cases when TTY is not available for input / output.
Bug fixed: In the file encryption dialogue, when clearing the passphrase and setting it again, the passphrase is ignored and the file is saved as “key only”.
Bug fixed: In the file encryption, gpg files were encrypted with ’t’ flag. It lead to removal of 0x0D bytes when GPG decrypted the files because it thought that the files were textual. The problem did not manifest on Windows and when EncryptPad was used for decryption. It was only in the direction from EncryptPad to Linux/Unix GPG.
