We weren’t trying to necessarily bypass the IRB. What we did was just ask the committee that evaluates IRB submissions whether or not we would have to go through the process and they told us that we didn’t.

If you are doing this work at a university, I would suggest speaking with the similar committee that makes these determinations.

Yes, you can.

Also, my understanding is that UF General Counsel is doing a second, more thorough policy for Facebook and other social media. So, use this for now and then I would revisit when the latest policy is released.

Finally, I’ve been told that the UF Strategic Communications Planning Committee (of which we are a part) is offering a free social media seminar in late January, which will include both strategy and legal issues. Check back on our website for more information.

Any chance for an SSL cert on images.webadmin?

The UF site I’m working on is SSL-only, and my browsers are complaining about secure and non-secure content.

I asked webmaster@ufl.edu, but wanted to chime in here too in case my email gets lost in a spam filter somewhere.
