Take two brothers from Russia, hook them up with two Bengali guys, and throw in inspiration from Nirvana and Tool. The result is Slant.

Childhood friends Munir Haque and Fahim Zaman began jamming together and writing songs structured on older ideas from Fahim. An amazing drummer Andrew Karpman came to them through a mutual friend and Andrews bass player brother Ilya, would often support the band while on weekend leave from the Marines. In 2002, Ilya became slants permanent bassist. Slant is Fahim (vocals/Guitar), Munir (guitar) and Andrew (drums) and Ilya (bass guitar).

Who's scared? Nobody cares when you lose sight, on what youre looking for. They've clipped your wings and you cant fly anymore What began as a simple guitar warm-up is now Broken Wings. An edgy, dark rock song you cant help but chant along to. This song has been heard throughout radio stations in the us and over seas and also landed a spot of the video game Pop star guitar on Wii and playstation.

DJ Vix - Making the turntable go "Balle Balle"

Working 100-hour weeks with a love of Michael Jackson, they spent every spare minute writing songs, breaking expensive guitars and trying to work out why it was so hard to make things sound good! The Cynical Recess believes that their sound is different from the plethora of cacophony in the scenario right now and the world will also abide by it we progress. Lyrically the band mainly stresses on awareness issues which the human race is reluctant to retaliate against, such as global warming, HIV aids, war etc. From our tunes we try to send a message to the hearts of the listeners about what is to be done and why? We believe harmony and melody is the pioneer of heart to heart communication and it is a never ending process. Thus with this motive we are venturing forward to conquer hearts of millions across the nation and the globe.

Sinful Oath - Let the Metal flow

Deep on the drums and Bibek on the bass never thought that they would play in a band until they met Soumyabir (pittu) through common friends. Thus the idea of starting a band took form in their mind and they started to look for a vocalist. Fortunately, their search was short as they met Kunzang in a concert. Thus the band was formed - Deeptaroop on the drums, Bibek on the bass, Soumabir on the guitar and Kunzang provided the power vox they needed.

Color Bridge - Adding new Colors to the "Funk" music scene

Vinnie Zummo is a

guitar player by trade and was with the Joe Jackson Band for

about 7 years. Also, he is a writer, producer, and creates

Hip Hop drum loops and sample cds for Zero G, and puts out

his own CDS, the latest one being "Swinging Guitar Sounds Of Young America".

Some have said the CD causes "Genre Whiplash". Vinnie's current thing is

adding "icing" to people's songs. Little lo fi touches and odd little touches to make a track

come alive. Of course he loves adding a guitar solo as well if the song seems to want it.

Vinnie LOVES all kinds of music and he is a vampire for playing diffferent styles of it on a

daily basis. He craves the variety.

Vinnie is currently a top call

session player in the New York City area.

<p

She found that she was able to pick up the ability to play the instrument with great ease. By the age of 10, she developed an interest in dance, acting and singing. The odd thing about MJ was she loved being onstage for dancing and acting but, she was terribly scared to sing in front of anyone. Finally, she was basically forced to sing at a dance recital. That first time onstage singing got her over her fear and she realized how much fun and exhilarating it is. With this new found excitement, she joined a local singing group. The group performed at county fairs, community events, and the Indiana state fair. She sang with the group for a couple of years and developed a following at the community events. Her music myspace came about as an experiment. She started the music myspace in August of 2007. By August of 2008 she had reached over 10000 friends. She has now over 20000 followers on myspace.

Citizen Snips - Rockers thinking out of the box

The similarity between these two styles is none of them a formal finishing school and mostly learnt and practiced as they have been passed on from one generation to other.Folk music came associated with various social events (example wedding/marriage, birth, hunting, harvest etc.). These events gave the people a chance to practice, polish and perform this musical form.

Dhrupad

A star already in his own field, Joy is getting noticed by the right people and has been getting into the right musical circles and senior musicians have been showering upon him with their blessings. Let Joy tell us his story ...

I was born in Calcutta in 1976. My family is a very musical one. All of my family members were associated with either any form of music or dance. Both my father and my mother were singers; my elder sister was a dancer. Moreover, there is not even a single family of my relatives from which at least one of the family members is not an artist. Being born and brought up in such a family, I really did not need any kind of influence to get into music, rather it was a very natural thing to me to be with music, and it never felt that music was something extracurricular; it was rather a daily routine job in our family.

Rohan Dasgupta - A rising Sitar player

They harp on a unique alternative/ post-grunge style that seeks to introduce an edgy, dynamic and yet a carelessly volatile punch of sound into the spectrum of the Indian rock scene. The heady mix of aggressive, temperamental sounds accentuates their high energy stage act that the band pulls off with conviction every single time.

Camouflage - The Rising “Modern Alt” Rockers

A couple of changes in the line-up and a lot of enthusiasm pushed this band to try its luck at a music competition at IIT-Kharagpur Springfest, in 2005. The band, though short of a vocalist, took the stage with oodles of confidence and a different title — it called itself Camouflage. The guys played to their potential and qualified for the semi-finals.

Glass Onion - Good Even Music By A Bunch Of Odd People

Furthermore, having studied in Patha Bhavan, Kolkata for twelve years, the nurturing was just about perfect for him to enter the realm of music.

Originally trained in Western Classical guitar (Grade-8), which he believes to have paved the way for his outlook towards music and his acceptance of the diverse musical genres in the future. Though performing from a very early age, it was only after his Graduation, (Eng Hons.) from Maulana Azad College, Kolkata that he realized his true calling. However he decided not to be confined to just guitar playing but broaden the field and in no time he was writing songs, singing, composing, arranging them and also took a keen interest into the technicalities of music production.

Pseudonym - Creating New Dimensions In Music With Some Bigger Truths Hidden Inside

Pseudonym was formed in September 2006 by five music enthusiasts: Damayanti Chakravarty (vocals), Sompratim Das (vocals, guitars), Devapriya Sinha (vocals, guitars), Roheet Mukherjee (bass) and Rajan Bhaumik (drums). This band is aiming to set a different note in the world of contemporary music with a totally fresh perspective, and is ready to face the challenges that will inevitably come its way. The name was unanimously agreed upon as the band relates to the philosophy of creating new dimensions in music with some bigger truths hidden inside. Thus the name Pseudonym does gel flamboyantly with the band itself.

Five Little Indians - A Unique Soundscape That Can Only Be Defined As Its Own

Launching a high quality work, the band has been showing on its songs, that music can be handled in new ways, meshing several metal styles, without losing focus and sound weight. As each band member has experienced their own musical inspiration, their contribution for such composition process has been unique. The group has released last November the EP “Between The Lines” and is planning to launch its new album entitled “Risking All” in 2009.

Nevermind, The Band - A Group Of Good Friends Who Love Doing Music Together

There was no fixed drummer. In some of the first stage shows the audience would be surprised at the sight of the drummer and the guitarist changing roles. Then Anindya joined as the drummer. We were still learning about live acoustics and on stage glitches that can upset all pre-determined plans. Soon Soumyadeep joined as the guitarist and Subhayu shifted to bass. With Shinjan and Shreya on vocals and Saptarshi on the keyboards the band was named Nevermind. Later on Shinjan had to leave for Mumbai and Arunava joined as a brilliant young vocalist.

The Pennydrops Band - A Pop Punk Band From Calcutta

This three piece package is known for their totally "freaked out" and "extremely energetic stage presence". With their Energetic Punk music, bold attitude, and stupid onstage jokes, they've made a pretty decent mark in the Calcutta rock scene. They believe in onstage enjoyment rather than nervousness and tension to be tight and accurate. The band loves innovation and aims at creating a genre fusing punk and emo with their own stupidity, playing non conventional stuff.

(C) WBRi Inc.
