Thu, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm -- The Richmond Art Museum will be hosting an exhibition featuring the works of Indiana regionalist painters from the permanent collection and private collections. Works by artists Edmund Brucker, Randolph Coates, Harry Davis, Edwin Fulwider, John Wesley Hardrick, Henrik Martin Mayer, George Jo Mess, Roland Osborne, Oakley Richey, F. Louis Schlemmer, Florence Smithburn will be on display. Regionalism was a popular American realism movement in the 1930's best known by artists such as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton and John Curry.

Many Indiana artists who attended the John Herron Art Institute during this time period and their instructors participated in this movement. This was a sharp contrast from the impressionistic style of the Hoosier Group artists such as T.C. Steele and John Ottis Adams.
The Richmond Art Museum has a nice selection of Regionalism paintings in particular by Richmond artists such as Aimee Brown, Gordon Kelly, Ed Loar, Charles Surendorf, Lawrence McConaha, Roland Osborne and Oakley Richey.

Tue, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm -- The Richmond Art Museum will be hosting an exhibition featuring the works of Indiana regionalist painters from the permanent collection and private collections.
